Some of these responses here are....
It's like saying "help my car won't start any suggestions"
And someone responding "Yeah man just go out and get a new car"
What if he's under contract with AOL? He has to make do with what he has now, he didn't say what service provider should I go with. /rant
What exactly does your friend need help with? What can he not do or what is he trying to do?

What if this car that you speak was a 30 year old rust bucket, or a car that it is known to have alot of mechanical problems? Would you tell your freind to keep wasting money on it or reccomend he/she buy a new(er) car that is more dependable? What a majority of us is tryin to say is aol dsl is garbage and I know from past experience. I constantly had connection issues and slow speeds from it and the customer service was a joke. Im recommending he spend his money on something better that wont give him as much problems because of my experience with that company. Whats wrong with that? And as for the contract situation you speak of, its better to just pay the penalty fee than keep on giving them business for a poor service IMO. If you purchased a cell phone with a contract and you rarely had service in your area would you keep paying them every month for the service? Or would you cancel it, pay a tolerable penalty fee, and get something better?
Don't you need a broadband connection to use PS3 online?

AOL = Waste of money. It should work but AOL is retarded the way it connects to the internet is unlike any other ISP. That and DSL is a joke. I used to have DSL from SBC Yahoo and it doesn't have...
Probably the fact that it isn't always connected is affecting the connecting....and to all the guys saying AOL is crap and get a new service....this isn't the time or play to rant...the guy is at his girls house she loves AOL and he just wants to get connected....please don't bring your personally issues with AOL here....either you have a valid suggestion or you don't.
it's ok I have solve the problem...be it that it came from MS

Well that sucks that AOL sucked em in, and now since they have all they're email/IM set up at AOL and don't want to leave. Too bad I say. It's totally valid to switch since AOL cost soo much for nothing.
EDIT Totally Valid

AOL is overrated and basically for beginners and people too lazy to switch and save money.
