They all have varying amounts. It takes 50 for the first rank, 100 for the second, and it just keeps on increasing from there.
I would recommend you not concentrate on building up "Skill Rank" on these forums. It is pretty meaningless overall.
We want people who are great posting and can contribute to a well thought out conversation with interesting and diverse viewpoints.
If you start posting just to increase skill rank, you will probably be labeled a spammer, or worse.
I don't think there is anything worse then spammer well I havent seen anything other then that but meh what do I know my rank is only elite member :?

The forum is temporarily under construction at the moment. We hope to restore the key mods like skill rank fairly soon.

Yes the previous version had some security issues so we are updating the forum to a more recent version of PHPBB. We are looking into user selectable themes and a new logo may appear fairly soon but for the mean time just expect to see us restoring the forum to its previous state, but just with a more secure version of PHPBB, which should solve some of the previous forum bugs, like log in issues.

it changes automatically....it changes due to the amount of posts...
Yes and no, you get more skill points for longer posts.
Yes and no, you get more skill points for longer posts.
Actually, You get more skill points for starting a new topic than posting a reply. The length of your post does not determine how many skill points you get.
However, good, informative posts, that are helpful to users are rewarded with big skill points bonuses. On the other hand poor posts, which simply spam or flame others result in deductions of skill points.

i want to gamble 2 of my stars for the answer.....if the name changes due to the amount of posts, then i get 2 extra stars, but if it dosent, then you get to take away 2 stars. PLEASE let me do this.....so what do u think about this gamble, will you allow it and promise me to give me, or take away 2 stars?
Something such as this seems a bit trivial dont you think?
Stars are dependent on post count and so are rank names. However, they change depending on different post numbers.

And Fman, even though you are correct you do NOT get 2 extra stars!

yeah, i thought so, but it never hurts to ask
I am only a trainee. How many skill points do I need to become a member and do I get any special privlages? :?:

Rank is based on posts, not skill points. You need 100 posts to become a member, although you're close to the next rank at the moment ;) The only special priviledge you get is more respect from other users.

if you average 50 posts a day like me you should have 3 stars in no time 8)
another thing to consider, theres the forum, then theres life its self.... you get what i mean, so 50 post will take all day (if you want to post properly)
if you average 50 posts a day like me you should have 3 stars in no time 8)
Hmm....not sure If I'd brag about that.

Yeah, I don't see it either. Kind of strange. THE END IS NEAR!!
They don't show in general topics. We made an announcement about it. You don't get skill points for posting in the general topics.

Nope, you have to now buy the privilege to use them from the shop. They cost 150 skill point each. Where have you been Chels? You must have been away when we made the announcement.
Yeah, I was computerless for the longest time! Ok, I found out where to buy it! I love the whole buying thing! Thanks a lot!

Reports have surfaced suggesting that the Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) has been cancelled for the forseeable future, at least in its current form.
First reported by Next Generation, the reason for its change is centered around the cost of running such an event, especially to the exhibitors.
The site claims that "Publishers believe the multi-million dollar budgets would be better spent on more company-focused events...rather than the industry as a whole."
Entertainment Software Association (ESA) will apparently make an announcement tomorrow regarding the state of E3 for 2007 and beyond.
E3 is the most anticipated gaming event each year. In 2005, the PlayStation 3 was officially unveiled to the world in Los Angeles, whilst Microsoft used the event to supplement its pre-E3 MTV unveiling of the Xbox 360. This year, Microsoft showed off many impressive upcoming titles for its next generation console, Sony demonstrated multiple games live, and announced pricing and launch details, and Nintendo finally showed off the Wii to a packed audience.
Now, however, it appears that if E3 were to return in 2007, it will be on a much smaller scale, housing hundreds instead of thousands. According to Next Generation, the ESA feel a shrunk E3 will allow exhibitors to demonstrate their products to the media in a much more cost effective way.
Although we have already begun to see publishers holding their own events to demo their games, the announcement due to be made tomorrow may result in many more of these exclusive days throughout the year.
Tokyo and Leipzig may become the leading locations for large scale organised gaming events if E3 is laid down to rest.
