Please no Lebron James as Raw host

justintheman99

I am still wondering when the guest host thing will come to an end. At this point it has truly lost all appeal to me, and I am sure many others as well.

XMW
09-13-2009, 11:05
It still gives Raw higher ratings I read somewhere, so WWE doesn't really have a reason to stop it as of now..

justintheman99
09-13-2009, 15:47
I don't understand, as to me it takes away from the product and the time for the actual matches, and well wrestling in general.

Molo316
09-13-2009, 18:25
Yeah.

But something else that might have an impact is that most people may tend to go out on Friday nights, and therefore drops the ratings for Smackdown. This was the case when they switched 'Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles' to Friday nights.

Yeah, live is better I always watch the results too.. :( But apparently SD! tends to have quite a few botches (both moves and technical).

I wouldn't mind. Though I'd probably forget to take score.

I watched it. Punk gave him the 'Vice and the ref immediately rang the hell. Punk then procedded to taunt Taker at the TOP of the ramp with Teddy Long GLARING.. I mean GLARING at the Undertaker. That was a storyline match... i guess it fit the whole canada thing...

.....

I was fine with Cena winning, honest I was.

But what an awful match. What an awful finish. No tension build up, no pace changes, no back and forths, and Orton just looks weaker and weaker. Bah.

EDIT: Actually, thinking back, I think it was just the finish that I hated. Cena getting up 30 seconds after an RKO and Orton being unable to reach the keys just seems a little bit meh. Plus Orton quitting after only being asked once. I was actually enjoying the match about halfway through, but it started going downhill when Cena was cuffed to the turnbuckle. Imo.

Vince is molding Cena to be the face version of Triple H. Don't you kids remember when Triple H held the belt for ages as a heel? Only difference between the two is that Triple H has better swag, and the fact that at one time he could wrestle. Oh well... CM Punk better had won. *Goes to spoiler site*

Right you can slate me for this if you like i dont care but.....

I havnt watched wrestling for about 6 years but was flicking through channels last week and ended up watching raw then smackdown. So after seeing them advertise the PPV i thought what the hell il watch it im still awake at that time anyway.

My view on the whole PPV was that i thought it was poor it was a terrible way to end it and even i saw it coming. With some of the matches they had with the submission twist i was expecting much more. I felt the whole thing was an anticlimax The DX match was dull could have been done much better. None of the storylines do it for me they need to come up with something big because that was Boring last night

Sorry just my view

justintheman99
09-14-2009, 12:36
Boring PPV indeed......Cena wins, like we didn't see that coming? He only fought Orton for the title like what 67 times in the last 3-5 months? What a shame really that we have to watch/listen to teh same old garbage from him again. Now the question is how long will he hold that title again? Plus how many more times will we see Cena vs. Orton now that Cena is the champ? *SIGH*

Not a bad PPV last night, I dont get why the Ziggler/Patterson/Morrison segment took place, surely that time could have been used better with an IC title match.

I wander if the "screw job" that happened last night might mean a heel turn for Teddy Long?

Thought it was overall a good PPV. The Kane/Khali match kinda sucked, the Jerishow/MVPHenry match was below the standard I had expected, and the finishes were poor for that match, the Cena/Orton match, and the Punk/Taker match (thought the finishes were too sudden in the WWE & World Heavyweight matches... in a bad way).

But I think DX and Legacy put on a very good show, as did Regal and the Miz. I was very impressed with the Miz, showed that he can wrestle, and is pretty good at working the crowd while in the ring. All things considered, I was only really disappointed by the finishes in the last two matches.

justintheman99
09-14-2009, 23:36
Meh. I am tired of Batista in all honesty, much like I am of John Cena. I haven't really seen anything "exciting" from him, and his entire matches can be summed up into a 5-10 base move set much like Cena as well. In my opinion he just never had that it factor. I mean the way the guy received crowd cheers was from turning his thumbs upside down? WTH!? Also his rope shaking totally rips off the Warrior (who was better by the way ).

I hate the fact Batista is back and is headed to Smackdown. I also find it pathetic they couldn't write any possible angle that made him go there. All he said was "I am going to Smackdown". OK so how is this possible? We have brand splits for a reason, so how can he jump to another show? Before they worked angles where contracts expired and so on, but this is just plain awful.

Ha! I said the exact same thing - just watched Raw now. I thought "there's no draft, why does he just get to jump ship?".

The Smackdown main events are going to suck eventually. I give it a month before he throws his weight around regarding the title - probably after Punk and Taker have a HIAC match at the PPV.

Was glad to see Mickie James on there last night. Didn't expect her to make an appearance if she did have surgery over the weekend. Looked nice too :D

The Wrestling
Observer is reporting what we initially heard, which is that former Ring of Honor stars Bryan Danielson and Nigel McGuinness will be bypassing WWE developmental and will instead debut with WWE on the company's main roster. This of course can change, but as of now the current plan is to bring them directly to TV. No word yet on which brand the stars are headed to.

The Great Khali Out of Action; To undergo Surgery
- The Great Khali is set to undergo knee surgery shortly. He was wrote out of the Smackdown tapings last night. Kane hit Khali over the head with the ring bell, then destroyed Khali's left leg with the metal steps. Khali was taken out of the arena on a stretcher.

I'd say that the worst hosts so far have been ZZ Top. They literally did nothing in regard to the show.

Mistakes happen, we are only human. I mean why not try to work on things. I mean look what Own Hart did to Austin years back with the piledriver. He almost paralyzed the man but WWE didn`t release him now did they.

Molo316
09-18-2009, 17:43
Nah I'm not having a dig at him. Just stating what happened.

Yeah I remember that. But now they seem a little more safety conscious. Perhaps that's why the matches aren't as good :p

justintheman99

I just bothers me when a guy has so much potential and they ultimately release them. Mistakes happen, and Orton was OK, so why couldn`t they just move on from there.

Molo316

Only they can answer that.

Btw, on WWE.com they have the complete SvrR'10 roster with their in-game pictures. It looks as if they tried to replicate the poses they have on the WWE.com Superstars pages.

WWE/F died when The Rock and Austin left, theres a massive void left that no other star has been able to fill. The problem is, we'll never see another beer swilling, bird flipping wreslter like Austin because of the PG rating. It's fallen into a hole of boring, predictable wrestlers.

Orton is close to dragging the Attitude era back, but the rating restrictions put a massive block on what he can do, first of all the language, it's so dumed down it makes everything more unbelievable than it already is, putting a few swear words in timely situations would make it more real, for example, Otorn RKO'ing Steph, HHH in a real situation would have been dropping crap loads of F-bombs, not one.

Cena, I actually like Cena, he's like a child friendly version of The Rock, but he's boring, but I think thats only because of his fan base, they can't make Cena an unpredictable, exciting wrestler because of the kids.

I feel those two are the closest current matches to The Rock and Austin, but they're the child-friendly, boring versions.

Molo316
09-20-2009, 18:32
I always just see Cena as trying to come off as The Rock.

I feel he tries to be funny with his promos, but I think that he just looks like a plonker. And he's basically like a human billboard with all the merchandise he wears.

Chris Jericho is probably now my favourite. I love how he "sticks it to the man" with his promos and such.

It is repetitive, but I think that whatever he says always applies, such as some of the wrestlers just pandering to the crowd and such.
In my opinion, even though they are only promos, Jericho basically tells it as it is.

I like CM Punk heel turn. He fits the role perfectly.
Yeah. A heel turn is just what he needed. I used to find him annoying, as most of the face characters are now anyway. But since he turned heel I've loved his promos and he always makes me laugh.

CM Punk is just one of those guys who make a much better hell, much like HHH. Sure they can do the whole babyface thing, but it just doesn't come across as effective as when they portray a heel. It is just in their blood to have that kind of character.

The worrying thing with Smackdown and Batista is that Batista has already main evented the show and already pretty much squashed the best thing in WWE right now - Chris Jericho.

I wont go mad after just one week though, as Jericho could beat Batista this week, but this is Batista he wont be defeated for a while and will make a lot of better talent look stupid :(

justintheman99
09-22-2009, 20:10
John Cena = Raw domination.

Batista = Smackdown domination.

This is WWE's logic. Have one powerful force to run/govern each show. One almighty force to ram down the throats of fans, and try their hardest to force you to like them. Problem with this is it makes the product ultimately come across as even more fake, as it takes the competitiveness out of every match. You instantly think oh well it is Cena/Batista so they will win. It takes credibility away from the other wrestlers, and make them pale in comparison.

End these 2 clowns and bring back a day of competitive matches, where anyone could beat anyone on any given day. Make it seem more real, instead of giving almost superhuman powers to a select few wrestlers.

HHH, batista, Orton, Cena, Michaels. I dont put the Undertaker in it as he doesnt strike me as of one the boys.
I dont mind Orton or, HBK, but the others will ALWAYS squash and main event averything and get pushed down our throats.
I was SO gutted when i found out Batista was going to Smackdown. Smackdown was a chance for good young superstars to showcase their talent without fear of getting squashed/buried where they can get coached by the likes of Y2J, taker, rey, edge etc. now we've got batista on the show who wont put anyone over and kills a main event TOP talent in Y2J.

Molo316

They've probably just put Batista on Smackdown because there's too much "squashing" to do already with Triple H and Cena - they needed to spread it out.

I don't know whether I would put Orton in Vince's "elite" crew. Sure he's main evented rather quickly because of his father's work, but he seems a bit like the fall guy who has to take the beatings of everyone, whilst in the main event picture.
And apparently backstage he keeps himself to himself, and some of the others don't seem to like him much just because of that.

Problem here is that these matches will hold NO meaning after awhile, and their shock value will be lost. Before a hell in a cell, or elimination chamber match were used maybe once or twice a year. Hey Fellas,

Just discussing WM 26 card with people and what it should look like and we came up with this card :p thought i'd share

Main Event
Shawn Michaels V Edge
WWE Championship

Undertaker V Chris Jericho
World Heavyweight Championship

Natalia V Mickie James
Womens championship

Rey Mysterio V Jack Swagger
US Championship

Christian V Regal
ECW Championship

Punk V Morrision

MITB
Evan Bourne v The Miz v Primo v Shelton Benjamin v Matt Hardy v MVP v Kofi Kingston v Dolph Ziggler

Hart Dynasty V Legacy
Tag team championships

A card I like very much, and you may notice 3 names missing;)

Personally I very much like this card and know its probably impossible wth all the brand switchin etc although Edge and Rey could both just turn up at raw with them both bein off TV right now... The undercard would provide really good matches, maybe lacking 2 people who could make a really good personal story, although I reckon you could get tha tout of Morrison Punk cos of there history.

Went with HBK Edge ladder just because that is my dream match and would love it, same applies to Jericho Taker really

Problem would prob be buy rates, would a PPV sell well witohut Cena HHH Orton?

I'd like to think so:p

According to a report in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter (www.F4WOnline.com (http://www.f4wonline.com/)), WWE Hall Of Famer Bret "The Hitman" Hart is open to working on-camera as a character in a storyline on WWE television again.

The report claims Hart has had talks with WWE about returning as a weekly character on TV and his interest in a return is partially why WWE went with the screwjob finish in the Undertaker-CM Punk match at the "Breaking Point" pay-per view in Montreal.

Apparently talks began back when Vickie Guerrero left the company, so one would assume if he were to ever agree to a deal, he would be in some kind of non-wrestling role, such as a General Manager.

Amazing news, if true

I also read that at Backlash 2006 it was supposed to be HBK & Bret Hart vs The McMahons, instead of HBK & God. As WWE and Bret had talks around that time but nothing came out of it.
I really hope he comes back, maybe as a heel GM making alot of matches on SD! to give The Hart Dynasty various oppertunities to get the titles.
I'd like to see this;

Bret Hart; Heel GM
Hart Dynasty; Tag Champions
Natalya; Divas Champion
And perhaps Bret Hart as a manager too..

Sounds good right?

What is sad here is the fact Bret Hart cannot wrestle anymore. It would be so amazing if his return would build heat, and build, and build until finally it all explodes at a PPV with some type of match-up. However, since the stroke this would be impossible for him no matter how much I would enjoy seeing it. I am sure many more fans besides me would want to see it happen too.

From the best reviewer of smackdown over at wrestling news world. i urge u all to read his weekly column, plus hes english!! weird huh.

Now normally I don’t tend to talk much about ECW as RAW usually dominates my weekly discussion but after tuning in to this week’s show I have to say I cannot remember a more solid hour of well booked wrestling in recent memory. First off the show succeeded in setting up three potential new feuds in Regal and The Roundtable attempting to wrestle control of ECW from Tiffany, Shelton Benjamin turning face to feud and elevate Sheamus and my personal favourite, you know it Zack Ryder becoming the number one contender for Christian’s ECW title, Woo Woo Woo! Ryder had an excellent TV match with Christian a couple of weeks ago and has consistently shown intelligence and ability when it comes to his ring work whilst his catchphrases are some of the most amusing around and he delivers them to perfection. This is a perfect example of why I enjoy ECW so much, they have taken a struggling performer with potential and completely repackaged him and pushed him to help fulfil this potential and hopefully this is just the start of some great things for The Man. I will be eagerly watching Tuesday’s show as I fully expect Regal to interfere in the match and perhaps set up a subsequent Triple Threat for the HIAC pay per view. Working with experienced veterans like Regal and Christian will only help further Zack’s development and it should sure be an exciting and interesting few months for the former Major Brother. Another surprising thing about ECW is Goldust. Now I remember after the Trump draft I couldn’t care less about Goldust or his switch to ECW and felt this was a brief stop on the way to future endeavourville for Dustin. However since making the move to the Land of Extreme, Goldust has put on some great performances week in week out and helped elevate a number of rising stars including Ryder and Sheamus. Goldust has also got the live audiences, and from what I have read, the fans across the internet, to care about his character once again and this is great to see. I was amazed how over Goldust was during the Battle Royale and the clever way Zack eliminated him will further help elevate Ryder as a heel by taking out the clear crowd favourite. Goldust has certainly done enough to convince me he is more than worthy of having a job in WWE, and if he continues to perform to these high standards there is no reason he cannot work towards the top of the ECW card each week and perhaps contend for the title at some stage down the line. I would not say have Goldust as the champion but merely having him against heel champions such as Ryder, Sheamus or dare I dream it: Paul Burchill, will help elevate all of them as Goldust is certainly doing a great job in making his opponents look great in the ring and I hope this trend continues over the coming months.
So the biggest news of the week and probably the worst news of the year is that Batista is indeed making his return to Friday Night Smackdown, supposedly to find some competition. This is what frustrates me so much with WWE sometimes as this was the perfect opportunity to actually do what they are always talking about doing and create new stars. I have read countless reports saying Vince is frustrated with the WWE’s lack of ability to create new stars and even some of the more vocal performers such as Chris Jericho have spoken out with regards to the problem. Why take a useless main event hogging lump from one brand and stick him on the show that has, until this point actually been doing a great job in developing new stars. All that Batista will achieve on Smackdown is to hold back the main event elevations of John Morrison and Dolph Ziggler whilst crushing guys with potential such as Mike Knox and Drew McIntyre and we all know just how awful CM Punk’s foray in to the main event was last year after Batista started crushing him with ease every week! It is true Batista is not my favourite wrestler, in fact I would say he is probably my least favourite performer on the WWE roster besides Hornswoggle, but I would be just as mad if a big name I was a fan of such as Shawn Michaels, Randy Orton or John Cena had made the move because it would create exactly the same problem I spoke about above. Batista vs Punk would suck because Batista would crush him with ease due to the way he is booked, Batista vs Undertaker has been done to death in 2007 and no matter how popular they both are this feud would not be a draw for me in the slightest because I want to see something new and fresh. I seriously wonder if WWE ever pays attention to its fans because not just here on Wrestling News World but all across the Internet, Smackdown has been getting rave reviews for its solid wrestling, building of new stars and fresh programs and yet all that is set to come to an end with the arrival of The Animal. Quite simply Smackdown does not need Batista as Rey is coming back in a few weeks and Rey vs Punk, to me at least, is a hundred times the draw that Batista vs Punk, Taker or any combination of the three would be. Rey vs Punk would also have been the perfect filler feud whilst Morrison vs Ziggler is played out and then Morrison could be elevated into the main event shortly afterwards. It seems to make so much sense and be what all proper fans want and so Vince and Co go and do exactly the opposite! I would not be at all surprised if Batista had not helped orchestrate the move as lets face it John Cena will not be dropping the title any time soon and we all know just how much Dave both a) loves to be in the main event and b) hates to do a job so rather than I don’t know, helping elevate someone like Jack Swagger he decides to come and bury the Smackdown roster. If Batista had either the ring skills of Shawn Michaels or the charisma of John Cena it would certainly make things more entertaining and make the move a little less frustrating but Batista is appalling on the mic and decidedly average in the ring leaving the only thing going for him his phenomenal look, but for me and from what I have read on the comment boards this week, the majority of you, this is not enough. Only time will tell how much Big Dave will ruin the show we have all come to love, but if his complete decimation of Randy Orton, the top heel on RAW and incidentally the number one contender to the WWE championship, are anything to go by then the signs are not good. I promised myself I would rant on this too much but can you remember any other time in recent WWE history that a number one contender to either major belt was beaten CLEANLY by a man not even involved in the match or feud??? Didn’t think so…

The worrying thing with Smackdown is that, all this year they have had great main events and have been waaaaaaaaay better than what Raw has been doing. But as WrestleMania 26 draws closer it worries me that Batista will be in Smackdowns main event in a match that wont live up to the quality of the main events coming from Smackdown over this year. :(

Smackdowns WrestleMania main event has so much potential based on their recent main events and i just know Batista is going to ruin it!

Also have you seen the main event for the 10th anniversary of Smackdown, Raw have pissed all over it with their superstars that are ruining Raw!!
