Within a week of hearing that Ubuntu was successfully booted on an Xbox 360 console via the Hypervisor exploit, a Gentoo Linux Live-CD has been released. Along with this, a new King Kong shader was released to allow for the loading of this Live-CD, instead of having to upload the kernel via a serial connection. This new shader will load and subsequently freeze the King Kong disc as before. However, it will now eject the tray, allowing you to insert the Live-CD and boot the Gentoo kernel. Currently X is not supported but once stable drivers are released, a new Live-CD will support these features.
With the new shader and the ease of a Live-CD, linux and future hypervisor exploit related homebrew are now within reach of the average user. Releases can be packaged in a Live-CD format, reducing the amount of knowledge the average user requires to use such releases. Not only this, but homebrew released for this exploit, for the most part, will be available publically since it doesnt not contain copyrighted code. This is a significant advantage over homebrew for the original xbox, as it will allow for people who previously didnt have access to source code to aid in development. This to me is a major advantage of this exploit but most will see it as something that is of no concequence to them.
The hypervisor exploit is going to lead to significant knowledge being gained about the Xbox 360 console, specifically a greater understanding of how its security features work. This, in turn, may lead to exploits in future kernels, hopefully allowing the entire Xbox 360 community to use the homebrew to come.
Thanks to xorloser for the updated shader code, Cepasjuste for the Live-CD, and tmbinc for the XeLL loader. Also thanks to stonersmurf for his work with Cepasjusted on booting Ubuntu, and all others who have been involved in developments related to this exploit (Dr. Matrix, TheSpecialist, and many many more). This is a major achievement for the scene and I cannot wait to see future releases. Much appreciated guys!!!

It should be noted that this does not currently work with Samsung drives. To use a samsung drive, it will work if you can load the enable0800 ISO just before loading the cdreader binary via serial. Expect support for this drive to come soon.

I'm no programming expert, but doesn't the compromise of the security system go beyond a simple firmware update fix?
