View Full Version : New GTA Info and Screens!
Something Awful has posted scans of the upcoming issue of Game Informer regarding Grand Theft Auto 4!
Niko Bellic is the main character.
Multi-player will be included, but no details yet.
Liberty City is the only location in the game.
After the initial loading sequence, the game will never load again - even when you transition between interior and exterior locations.
The Xbox 360 version was the version shown to the magazine editors.
There were no planes in the skies of the demo that the magazine editors saw, and it seems that there will not be airplanes in the game. Other forms of air travel should not be ruled outCheck out the rest here:

Liberty City is the only location in the game.
I guess that rules out any countrysides like in San Andreas. No planes is also a big step backwards from SA, but that's what you get for choosing a NY derivative city these days I guess.
it will be so cool for Rock* to have a beta test on the online part of GTA:IV.

I remember R* saying they wanted to make the world smaller to pack in more detail. SA actually looked worse than the previous GTA's because of the size. And imo the countrysides were pretty useless and boring.

The setting is hella dope, beautiful skyline, plenty of different type of people to kill. This game is gonna keep me entertain for months, anyone know if it will arrive to the PC as usual?
All I care for is the multiplayer. GTA has been boring since they removed it.

I will be a bit upset if they don't include planes, but I won't lose sleep over it.

Please add an F22 raptor in this game, or a harrier again would be dope.
As long as i can get some from a girl in a dark ally i dont care about flying...after she done i will be flying...
well since people here are tripping over planes, don't you guys think they will put out new vehicles in the game? maybe they might surprise us who knows?!

no planes=no 9/11-simulator complaints:-|
this game is going to be great no matter what console its on..
Unfortunately GTA IV is turning out to be more and more dissapointing by the day! If the only location is really just Liberty City then - WTF??? i mean San Andreas had three huge cities, plus countryside and desert, and it was on PS2! And no planes is just ridiculous! Come on Rockstar what the hell are you guys doing!

Well yeah. what's everyone's first thought if they had airplanes in a city modeled after New York. and imagine if the environments were destructible. come on now.
Am I the only that's thinking about it? if there were planes?
i think too many people are focusing on the plane part and not focusing on the good things they mentioned.
Yay for no loading screens while playing!
And it seems to me like the 360 is their primary platform since they showed that version to the magazine and they've stated in the past that they're using a modified version of the Table Tennis engine.

seriously having planes in a make believe new york city is just asking for trouble!

How can 360 be the primary platform for a game thats been almost exclusive to sony for years?
As for one city, it does suck but im sure the city will be so big that it will take the same amount of time to get from one side to the other as it did in SA.

LMAO I am an idiot lol! Only just realised this! So yeh i guess planes are outta the question! Well if the map is smaller than SA, and there are no planes, then the next thing R* should include are destructible environemnts. Im not talking like Strangehold wher you can actually wreck everything and I mean evrything, just like tables chairs, some thin walls maybe... I mean otherwise what would it really improve over SA other graphics?

Indeed it does, but we don't know for sure...
I think one city that is richly detailed is more than enough for me. If this "new" Liberty City is anything like New York City...then heavy traffic is going to keep you from flying around in a car. I am thinking the subway might be the best means of transportation. But thats just spectulation. I also hope that the increased police presence is more meaningful in the game. For instance, if you run a red light, the police will attempt to pull you over. Something like that. It will be interesting to see how the game comes together...hopefully there is a demo in the works.

If there was a problem including planes on a game based in NYC then THEY SHOULDNT HAVE BASED IT IN NYC!!! Am i the only one who thinks that removing planes would be a step backwards for the franchise?!? Yes, there are good points in the article but, for me, those are overshadowed by the negative of no planes. I find it really hard to believe they wouldnt include planes in a "next-gen" GTA game and hope this is a mistake.

Because it comes preloaded on Blu-Ray because of more space, use your common sense.

NO way. If they make 360 owners pay extra for what the other platforms have included with the game (when shipped at the same time, unlike Oblivion), it's over for the 360.
That is NOT the case and will not happen.

In this new GTA game will you be able to walk into every building without loading screens? Thats one thing I like about Fable 2...
Didn't Saints Row lack flyable vehicles due to the 360s inability to stream? Perhaps planes will be in the PS3 or PC version..

The devs at least said there wouldn't be any loading times between exterior and interior. While that's definately a great plus, it remains to be seen just how many of the buildings are accessable... Imagine walking in and out of Empire State without loadingtimes! ;)

I don't know what the deal was with that. They had an airport in the game, but there was no flyable planes available. :?
