'Start New Chat' made better

Every1 is waiting 4 the marvelous day that Firmware 2.0 and HOME r released. It is said that on that magical moment, amazing new features will b available. That evevything that Sony has been developing in secrecy will ultimately offer us a better more 'connected' type service.

Well. The other day I had an idea myself. An idea which I think would b of great benefit once more and more people buy PS3s and more of my friends r added 2 my Friends list. And also the rumored in-game XMB...

I believe the current chat invitation feature is horrible. It basicly sends a text message that 2 ur friend with a button 2 join u in the chat room. Well, I was thinking about it being more built-in into the XMB. When ur being invited into a chat room u would c a small icon on the top right and u would hear a continued ring or beep of some sort. Much like a phone. And if u fail 2 join in like 5 rings then it would go away and stay in ur Friends tab as a "Missed Invitation".

What do u guys think?

EDIT: Oh. And with the use of Bluetooth and all, I was thinking that they could incorporate the TALK button on the headsets so u could use that 2 join the chatrooms ur invited 2 instead of having 2 use ur control while in-game. The button could also b used 2 bring up the 'Send Chat Invitation' window while in game.

Pretty good, huh? I b havin some good ideas from time 2 time...

uhm, the thing with the 5 rings? no thanks. i dont need more imitation of a phone.

i think the chat is fine the way it is, just need video conferencing and multiple user support AND multitasking.

Hopefully by 2.0 they will fix all of the PS1/2 issues, not really looking forward to home but hey to each their own :)..

I don't know the chat invite could be a good thing
But I have never actually had a chat session at all so my thoughts probably are not worth much
I tried twice to do the chat thing but once the guy rhat sent me the invite did not have a headset
And the other time the persons headset was not working properly he was downloading in the background that was the problem I think

I don't have a camera but I do have a usb headset and I'll get a camera soon

but it would be cool if you were in game and could open a window and chat with the person in game .(and have a hide/show window function)

i cant wait for home it looks so good. does it come in an update ?? im sure you download it from PS Store then opens up in XMB

Actually... I thought that maybe they would just have an icon under the Network section on the XMB. Sort of like what they did with Folding@home...

But yea, off of the PS Store sounds more likely...

If 2.0 is the one we've all been waiting for, which I assume it will be since its a whole new digit, we will be able to access music while playing a game. I can't wait for that day. Chatting while playing a single player game? so you could have a friend guide you if you needed help? that would be cool too.

Did you know that there is a Home beta trial. Only Playstation Underground members were invited. I was invited and I should be using Home by next week. I can't wait.
