Whoa, play.com are selling PES 2008 for 24.99£ on the 360!

http://nextgenpes.co.uk

****, what do you think the reason is behind this?
Pretty surprising they've kept the PS3 version at the same price, despite having more issues.

I posted this in a thread yesterday! You may be interested!

If I wasnt so pissed off with the game Id kinda find this response funny!

http://www.ps3forums.com/images/icons/icon8.gif Konami's Response About PES 2008 - To Me! - 21 Hours Ago
Although my specific issue isnt the same as what most of you get, (fuzziness around the players) I still get the lag and Slowdown!

Look at these emails -

Quote:

I have just got this game (PES 200:cool:) and it plays terribly on my Panasonic LXD70 LCD.

There is 'fuzziness' around the players, serious tearing issues, and
terrible frame rate issues!
I have also tried it on my Panasonic 42" Plasma and my 26" LXD60 LCD
and it
plays fine on those TV's.

Will there be any patch released to offer support for more
televisions.

I have seen other people are having problems with different
Televisions.

Thanks

Dear customer,

Thank you very much for contacting the Konami customer support team.

We have discovered an issue with PES 2008 on PLAYSTATION 3 which interferes
with the smooth running of the gameplay. Our team is currently investigating
the issue and hopes to provide a solution as soon as possible.
It appears that only the SD (Standard Definition) modes 576i and 576p are
affected.

^WTF Did you even read my email^ :suspect:

Should your television support HD (High Definition) resolutions,
please try connecting your PLAYSTATION 3 to your HD TV using a component or
HDMI cable and switch to a HD resolution in order to resolve this issue.

We sincerely apologise for this inconvenience. ???????

^ Inconvenience? If I only had a SD TV and had to go buy an HDTV to play this **** game Id see it as more than an inconvenience! :suspect:

Your Konami Support Team

So basically, they didn't even read my emails and what they said makes no sense!

Proof that Konami are a bunch of Muppets!

I guess 360 owners have been holding on to PES6 instead of buying PES2008 since there are problems with the new version. Thats why the 360 version is on sale. The PS3 version on the other hand has been selling like hot cakes because its the first PES on the console so PS3 owners have nothing else to fall back on, hence PS3 owners are buying PES2008 at all costs. That means there is no need to reduce the price to get more demand on the PS3 version.

I think the firmware update has improved framerates for PES, i dont have one single slowdown since i updated and replays are smooth!

Anyone else?

Is the framerate still bad in crowded areas of the pitch? (like corner kicks)
I was wondering because I don't have this game yet.

Ok been playing Fifa for 5 weeks and Pro Evo 2008 for about a week and a half....

Conclusions i have...

Pro Evo is defo the arcade style title now, Very easy to score, especially as the goal keepers jump out the way and palm the ball out to attackers, but being easy to score will attract all the Fifa heads that now find it impossible to score in Fifa so i do think it has gained alot more fans. The graphics are below par.... sound is awful (especially if you compare to fifa) Ball feels like it's on ice at times and the ball moves far too fast... but as i say at the start it is an arcade style football game so i guess all my problems with the game were actually meant.

Fifa is defo the realistic game this time round, Hard to score, Slowish gameplay (although can get fast at time) Keepers are great, Graphics are great as is the sound and presentation. One bit i can say about sound.... i was getting beat by the computer 1-0 and 72 mins had passed... finally scored and the crowd started singing "your not singing any more" i thought that was brilliant.

Belive me when i say this..... but i cannot belive that Fifa is the better game...i never thought ever that i would say this. If you can unlearn Pro Evo and move over to Fifa this year you's will see what i mean.

I just hope Konami leave all this Arcade bull**** behind and get back to the way things were. As i do belive Seabass can make a better realistic game than the guys at EA....

I guess next year we'l find out.

Who are you? :suspect: And what do you want?

Conclusions that I have are FIFA is junk, and PES is PES. Comprende amigo?

PES has best ball physics, fact. PES was always easy to score, fact. There are no real football simulations and never will be, fact. Get over it, chill out, peace out.

Just played for a few hours on FIFA08. The scoring is bloody rediculous. It is impossible to make a break. I was Man U against my mate who was Derby (yes, Derby). Ronaldo running at the defense and he can't break through? Derby defence can keep up with Ronaldo, one of the fastest footy players? The passing is dumb as the players don't move to the ball when you pass it, so long passes just get intercepted all the time. From what everyone was saying, I thought it had been improved from FIFA07.

At the same time i upgraded my LCD to a full HD and installed the new 2.0 firmware.
I still have slowdowns but the replays are much much better, i dont know if its from the LCD or the firmware.

hey Nunalho lets go online for an FCP - Mouros :)

If i remember right you find it hard to score in Pro Evo.. so Fifa will as you say be impossible for you.... Ronaldo is a speed demon in the game and defences defo cannot keep up with him (i know am in my 3rd season with Man u and played over 150 games online). As for passing it's great... And it's very hard for other players to get the ball back... Sure thru pass doesnt work as well as Pro but imo Pro's thru pass works too well. Long ball's and early crosses are superb as well.

I guess your just crap at it... especially if your finding it impossible to score or for some reason you cannot run away from defences with Ronaldo.... Back to the piss easy Pro Evo for you. :DD

This is how PES used to be, you cant just run into the damm defense and "break through" you have to play around, find the weak spots and attack... Good old pes 5 days.

In PES it is far to easy to score, with ronaldhino you can score atleast 5 goals each match online... Now that is bloody stupid.

Exactly. It'd be quicker to just run to your player rather than pass it to him.

This pretty much describes how the game has moved.

"Winning Eleven 7 for me (PES 3 for you guys in Europe) was my favorite of the series because Konami was able to balance the speed of players, the speed of the game and the physics of the ball. I never felt the CPU AI cheated, they just took advantage and capitalized on my miscues. If I was playing Real Madrid or Manchester United in the Master’s League in my first and/or second season they would out possess me like 60% to 40%…something that felt totally real and lifelike. I had to counterattack and make the best of the possessions I had.

Today, I can possess the ball more with Wigan up against the likes of Chelsea or Man U, and that just doesn’t seem real. I remember those heart pounding 0-0 draws and those exhilarating 3-2 victories. I never wanted to leave my house. I would come home from school and play for hours. Konami, for me, has lost the emotion of the game. There are so many fluke goals on PES 2008. So many goals I felt just were pure luck and I didn’t earn them. The best part of Winning Eleven was earning every goal which made playing that much more enjoyable.."

Pes has always been about skill and learning to play the game, now it is just stupid mainstream game like fifa.

Sure I have a problem with framerates in crowded areas and replays... but you know what? After playing the hell out of it for the past week, these things don't really matter anymore.
When I'm having a joy controlling the players in PES, I don't really care what the replays look like anyways.
AS for slowdowns... well every PES I had since Winning Eleven 6 all had slowdowns in crowded areas, so i'm used to it.

I can tell you guys still on the fence about this that its still the same PES that I've grown to love with over the years with better graphics and animations.
I also love the new moves too.

Today i have thought of the options and once again changed my Christmas from pes to fifa. Mainly because it has more modes, official licensing, and i have all the other Fifa's.Also considering it doesn't stumble on the ps3 , unlike pes at times, i have changed my mind. But is it right?

PES has by far the better gameplay, but if you can't live with occasional slowdowns FIFA will be for you.

PES08 was a serious dissapointment for me.
I'd bought every pro evo game on at least the week of release right from ProEvo2.
They'd always easily been of a far higher quality than FIFA, especially in terms of gameplay.
and in the latest few they'd even been catching up with the licences and graphics of individuals faces.

but with the jump to next gen (or now current gen?) I'm seriously irritated at konami.
The gameplay is just extremely below par, particularly keepers.
and the licence gains we've seen in the last few.
Gone!

I bought Pro Evo this year again, but this time i'm sorely tempted to return it and get Fifa.
Bring back Pro Evolution 3!

had something strange happen today with penalties.

Luckily it was in my favour however this happened against you I think many players would be going balistic.

I shot low left to the keeper and the he guessed right with bottom left. However the ball still squeamed in.

I thought it had gone under his body. How wrong I was the ball actually went through his chest:shock:. I thinking what the heck:confused: was this the replay falsely portraying the action or did the ball go through the chest.

This first time I have seen the sprite detection issues rare its ugly head and caused a goal if this was how the ball went in.

Wondering if Konami did any testing for this game. Unless this a rare glitch I have hit on.

I think many gamers have accepted the slowdowns the tears on ocasions. The goallies acting strangely at times. But if this issue gets mor frequent the ball could ghost through the chest of goallie then there will be lot of angry customers more so on the current slowdowns.

Do your self a favour and wait for the anticipated "patch" Konami promised.
(Where the hell is it by the way..)

Online still sucks a lot. You name it, they got it. From glitches, like the ball is going through players, till time travelling players that skip meters through your defence and rarely picture freezing.
I am afraid the slowdowns on the replays are the least they should be worried with.

Offline gaming though is absolutely enjoyable and I don't bother a lot with the slowdowns on replays. Not that I wouldn't mind them fixing it of course..

Am just about to watch it, Will the ball go through players bodys, heads, will keepers jump out of the way of the ball, will the keeper palm it out to an attacker every hard shot?

Luck does not happen 95% of the time, 95% of the time you have to work/earn your goal.

well, i finally played online which was fun but at times totally unplayable. In my first ranked game the opposition players were running around like they were on speed! The ball was never where i thought it would be due to the jumping i.e. you think you've won the ball with your defender and then suddenly the ball and opposition attacker has the ball 10 metres away running towards goal!! I had to disconnect my first ranked agme which meant i lost points! Konami and Sony sort it out!!!
Oh, and out of about 10 online matches i played 9 were against Barcelona! Only one person had the originality to choose another side - Fiorentina...well done to that Italian!! Thank you!

After announcing they would have a patch ready for 360 and possibly PS3 users by November the 19th, completely eradicating Online lag, (also possibly offline slowdown on the PS3), Konami have refused to reply when asked for more information on the patch.

Konami has issued a “no comment” to rumours it has set a November 19 deadline for a PES 2008 patch.

Internet rumours surfaced today suggesting that the Japanese publisher was expecting to make a patch that would resolve the online lag issues available in just a week.

Comments purporting to come from a Konami spokesperson, reported by pesforum.co.uk, said: “We hope to have the patch released within two weeks at the latest, and have set a deadline of Monday 19th November to get this to the public, as we are aware there are a lot of gamers out there that are avoiding a massive part of the game because of the online issues.”

The quotes continue: “I would say to all PES fans to be patient with us while we rectify the problems, please be assured that we are working very hard to fix these problems. We hope that everyone will soon be enjoying the online aspect of the game which people will love playing with their friends and fellow gamers.”

However, when Pro-G contacted Konami for clarification the publisher told us that no official announcement on a PES 2008 patch had been made.

Many gamers have expressed their frustration at the crippling lag experienced when playing console versions of the game. Last month we gave Konami’s UK office a call posing as a customer to ask what the publisher would be doing to combat the problems. We were told that a patch was being worked on that would not only attempt to improve offline play but also online play.

A patch for the PC version of the game has already been released, and last week Konami issued advice on how to smooth out play in the PS3 game.

starting to worry that not all issues will be fixed. Hope they prove me wrong but what comes out there mouth is not exactly encouraging:cry:.

Played in heavy rain swept stadium not sure which and there lag all over the shop it was abysma litery not playable at alll:twisted:. If you not experienced it is unbelievable. I was just getting used to the issues and learning how to play to at leat get some game enjoyment then that happened. I was playing a league season Spanish and not sure it was down to the length I played the game. Some are reporting issues get worse the more you play. I think it was down to the lag due to heavy rain. I am sure the game was doing pitch deteration else it was tricking my eyes as would see lots of dark shadowing puddles. Which if this what was actually happening then it would be logical why the slow downs everywhere. Also if they do sort it how brilliant the game going to be once its sorted.

On another note What all the crowd were looking like I thought I was in a communist convention than footy match;).

From distance its like all brown coats.

I dont care for online I cant be the only gamer who buys it for ofline use.

well my 3rd ranked game last night and it crashed for the 2nd time. 5-2 up (against Barce...again!!!!) 77min gone and as i'm reeling away from scoring my 5th goal...the game b*tch slaps round the face and crashes. I turn the game off in disgust? Will i get my win? I think i'll be taking this back to game for a refund. YES, Fifa08 is on everything better then pes08.(better graphics, gameplay, animation, ambience, music, teams, online, everything)
Be careful though, the pc version is not the same as the console version.
Console version(x360 and ps3) is Next gen while pc version looks still same as fifa07

Its either because more players in Real Madrid have the official faces/boots or because the stadium graphics are more complex.

Probably this is the reason good call. Konami really done some damage wondering if the actual problem is even repairable with a patch.

As we know this is a pc port feeling they might have programmed without the game using SPE's. If this is the way the game got programmed we maybe seeing that this maybe whats causing the slowdowns and therefore impossible to rectify as they would have to totally rework the coding. That would be disaster if my feelings came true.

Surely this was programmed correctly and my thoughts are wrong. Even ports from other games and developers including EA are not as bad PES2008.

They should refund your money for the game. You should check your local trading standards out online. Have a read, i think you may be pleasantly surprised. Basically, if goods don't meet the standard they are supposed to, i.e. not fit for purpose, you are well within your rights to return them to the place of purchase and expect a refund. If they say you have to deal with Konomi this isn't true either. Your contract is with them, the shops contract is with Konami or whoever their supplier is, therefore you deal with the shop and not Konami.

At least that is how it is here in the UK.

I can gaurentee the shop, whoever it may be will try to say they can't give you a refund but once you show them or tell them the relevent trading standards they'll soon change their mind. If they don't, ask for the manager's name, the shops address, his direct managers name and head office address and tell them to expect somethign for trdaring standards soon.

You've got to fight for your right to your money back!!!

Screw it. i just went back to playing PES6 on PS2. It's a good enough game to tide me over till PES2009. konami is not getting my money this year.

bigwops
11-14-2007, 14:55
To me it doesn't make sense that an older game PES6 is better than PES2008. KONAMI was given more power at their finger tips (PS3) and they made their product worse than before. Technology is supposed to move forward, not backwards. I was confident they would surprise us with 1080p @ 60fps with next gen graphics; boy was I off.
The only element PES ever had better than FIFA is gameplay; but framerate is an important part of gameplay, so IMO, this year FIFA wins on all fronts.
I agree with mertle that it seems as though the PS3's SPE's weren't used because it feels like this game is running on an old PC.

Hey people

I've been seeing some converter pages around offering to convert FM 08 stats into PES 08 stats. Anyone know where I can do this myself? That would be a big help, anyone find that PES consistently underrates Arsenal? I'm not a gunner myself but there isn't a better team as far as teamwork goes.

As far as how PES plays etc...

It's definately an improvement but I don't think it's a fully next gen game at all. I just want to sit down and play 5 games with the makers, I think in that time I could point out all the faults.

But it is fun.

Anyway, converter download or anything like that please?

I'd appreciate any help

Well I finally played this, framerate is a bitch during replays, but it doesn't effect the gameplay. But the gameplay is way too fast in my opinion. You switch the ball accross the pitch and it zooms over a million miles an hour. Also I don't like the default camera angle, I was at my mates and I didn't bother asking him to change. The overall presentation is better then Fifa though, in terms of the match, it looks like real TV coverage.

The gameplay is good but I'm not sure about this one, it doesn't stand out to Fifa as much as the old ones did.

the way I feel for one I would not be suprised the patch getting scraped. Another if ofline not addressed I would not care if they have said ef it. Its quite scanderlous that only online has been mentioned when ofline is very much a big issue especially during goalmouth gameplay it gets very cronic. The fact the object of the game is to be in the box it means its unplayable. Pes6 upscaled had a slight slowdown but it was only in the centre circle went away after couple of games. I have gone back to getting my fix with this its better allround.

I am really to point with this game feeling it should never never have been released for public use. Left to be used as a tech beta so they could learn how to program the ps3. Its that bad.

We should have had a statement in effect that the ps3 was been scraped and they would bring out a special BD ps2 version for the PS3 with a few goodies.

That way we would still got pes2008 but the ps2 version and not this abomadation whch if they cant fix we should all who own it get a free copy pes2009.

Infact I feel I will for the first time negate on buying pes2009 at launch.

Of course they are not going to release a shambolic demo. When i played the demo i thought that the slowdown was not that bad and everybody was making a big fuss over nothing...then i bought the full game. The slowdown is terrible...worse for me when i installed it on the hard drive. When you get into the box the slowdown can actually cause you to miss open goals its that bad. Dont get me started about online. You can pass the ball to your attacker and it will end up with the oppositions striker.....terrible online mode.

Isnt their a regulating body that prevents games like this coming out? I mean, crap games are going to be released all the time and you cant stop that because while people might hate the game some people might love it. But their should be a regulating body to say that if a game is unplayable because of major faults, it should not be released until it is fixed. This would basically make devolopers buck their ideas up, and not released a game that obviously has major programing issues. Millions of people have put money into konami's pockets and their laughing all the way to the bank, while we have to sit here with a broken game.

I think that most people in the gaming world would prefer a game that works over gameplay or graphics, that has to be the priority. If konami dont release a patch within one week im going to put my copy into a blender and post it on youtube!!!

I have enough patience for the patch already ... but my PES is going to trash can if I do not see the patch by next week.
I dont think PES2009 will be any better given the at most 10 months time frame they have.

Although pro evo isn't good, neither is FIFA. Which is actually sad because there is just no choice. Soccer/football just isn't meant to be played as a video game.

The release date for US is not clear yet. This is the cheapest price I can find , but Amazon.UK does not ship video game to US. I've been waiting it for a long time. I really hope that someone can do me a favor. I am willing to pay you via Paypal, if that works please email me or PM me.

Well i have been reading this thread for a couple of weeks now and i've finally decided to join to get my thoughts across.

First off i dont dislike the game but i far from think it's great. So many problems like Speed of gameplay, Bad Goalkeepers, Graphics and Sounds, Presentation is really bad also. Then we have online, Seabass said it was 1v1 because he had worked hard at getting it playing with no lag at all and it would be like playing someone in the same room, i mean c'mon this is the laggiest game i have ever came across.

So many bad points now the good, it still kinda feels like PES (just much easier than usual) and erm well thats the only good points i think. As for Fifa although most people say it's better this year i still couldnt bring myself to buy the rival football game. I just hope PES 2009 isnt as bad as this one. Guess am going to stick with PES 6 on PS2 :(

Seabass: "We thought about delaying PES 2008"

Posted on November 23rd, 2007 at 04:51 EDT

The man behind the Pro Evolution Soccer (http://www.psu.com/Seabass--+quot;We-thought-about-delaying-PES-2008+quot;-News--a0001941-p0.php#) series, Shingo "Seabass" Takatsuka has admitted that PES2008 wasn't up to the standards they hoped when it was released.

The game, plagued by problems ranging from lag to missing features, was released on time back in October, but Konami have since provoked rumours that a patch may be released to counter the game's problems, as previously reported on PSU.

But in an interview with PSM3 Magazine, Seabass admitted: "We never wanted to release PES 2008 in this state on PS3 (http://www.psu.com/Seabass--+quot;We-thought-about-delaying-PES-2008+quot;-News--a0001941-p0.php#).

"In fact, we thought about delaying it but different factors meant we had to [release it]."

Although Seabass didn't elaborate on these factors, it may have been related to the success of fierce rival series FIFA, and the further potential loss in sales to EA Sports' popular game (http://www.psu.com/Seabass--+quot;We-thought-about-delaying-PES-2008+quot;-News--a0001941-p0.php#) had the game been delayed.

"It's so far away from what we wanted. As a developer, we've worked the same way since the days of SNES (http://www.psu.com/Seabass--+quot;We-thought-about-delaying-PES-2008+quot;-News--a0001941-p0.php#). We're simply not set up for multi-platform development."

And despite the fact that the next-gen version of PES has been in development for 2008, the pressures of developing for the PS3, PS2, PSP, Xbox 360 (http://www.psu.com/Seabass--+quot;We-thought-about-delaying-PES-2008+quot;-News--a0001941-p0.php#) and PC seems to have taken its toll.

The game arrived with huge anticipation, and it could be that the disappointment was simply down to the sheer expectation stirred up by gamers. Moving on, however, Seabass was optimistic for future next-gen versions of the game.

"Look at the way the PS2 version panned out from the first to the last game. We're well on course to follow suit on PS3."

Fans are expecting a huge improvement for PES 2009, but despite Seabass showing some signs of optimism, he was cautious not to increase the expectations of the series' loyal band of followers.

"PES 2009 is in development, but after hearing the criticism, we'll be taking it back to the drawing board. It might not be next year, but it will be soon”, he said.

If you are not ready for MP developement come back to PS only.

Give us the **** ONLINE patch!

pes 6 on the 360 was an abomination!! and pes 4 was released on the playstation 2 1st and released about 6 weeks later on other platforms, pes 5 was released later on the PC, and was the first game to be released together on ps2 and xbox, when you could simply port games over with no problems.

sounds like from that article from seabass no patch is coming surely they would have said so. Infact he admits the next version already in development and that it wont be likely 2009 and were not to expect again a truly next gen but probably likely just a working version of 2008 with probably all those features which was in ps2 on the ps3. Hence basically we will be getting Pes2008 in 2009.

So will they give us free trade in for this next version( I bet they wont but they should). If they had not the resourses to handle so many platforms why the hell did they make so many. They had to options develop some and delay others or ditch some of them.

To me seabass has got greedy eyes, bigger than there resources. Why the heck it did not get delayed. PES gamers are loyal if they new it was being delayed YES we would be complaining disgruntled but go and buy fifa come on seabass you dont have much faith in you customers do you.

Personally I still feel it would been better for the ps3 to have not been made at all due to the resources issue. We could have got an extended Ps2 game on BD with say loads of stadiums editing goodies which could not got on DVD9. Ps3 then could have upscaled it. Yes we would have been disapointed no true ps3 version but if seabass would have explained the reasons I think we would have accepted it. I know I would have.

What will change next at some point seabass will have to make a choice ps3 or ps2 not both.

as mentioned make sure you are not downloading anything from ps store .

other reasons why game can freeze / stop loading , according to Konami

1) if the game is installed and you are using players with uploaded faces .

2) if the game is installed and you have autosave activated .

Hi mate. As the other reply says it could be something to do with downloading in the background. However, my copy also crashed countless times when I wasn't downloading. I returned it to the shop and replaced it and guess what........ the new copy did exactly the same. Yesterday I returned it and got a full no quibble money refund.

I took it to the counter and told the guy what had happened and he immediately offered me a refund or change for another game. He also said that they'd had lots of copies returned, what a sorry state of affairs. If it helps, I got my copies from Blockbuster games.

I've been a Pro Evo fan since the PSOne but I have conceded that this year FIFA is better (at least it's playable). I'd recommend you get your cash back before the game devalues further, Gamestation are already selling it at half price. I was hoping to wait for a patch but without one on the horizon I had to get rid before it was too late. If the patch does come out and fix all of the many problems PES2008 has, you can always pick up a cheap pre-owned version. It's a cast iron certainty tere will be lots of them kicking about.

Is it possible to bend it on free kicks? I have looked everywhere and haven't found a way. The free kicking system needs to be improved. It is based too much on luck. We need to control it with the right analog stick somehow. Maybe if you pull it one way and then push it the other it will aim straight in that direction then if you make a curving motion with the stick then it will bend and the faster you move the stick the harder the shot. Also, on penalty kicks it too much luck. It needs to be like MVP 2005 pitching where you they show you a soccer ball and then you just move it to a certain part of the goal and choose your power. The way it is now, you could miss the goal just by tapping square, there is no safe shot and no risky shot. It is all luck. Someone please correct me if I am missing something.

UkHardcore
11-25-2007, 01:07
You bend it by holding a direction before and after you kick the ball.

how do you download this patch, just turned it on no mention of a download

obviously makes sense!
the servers will be taking a bashing this evening then!!

So what do people think?? game realeased on the 26th Oct .... Patch released 26th November!
is a month an acceptable timeframe to adress fundamental flaws in the game??
(and i know the game shouldnt have had flaws in the first place but that argument has been done to death)
if this patch fixes online and offline, do we forgive konami and put our faith back into the product for a 2009 title??

Well, just played an online match...its a little better but it still lags, just not as much. No more teleporting... Maybe if you can play with a full connection (3 green bars) its even better, i played with a guy with 2 green bars.

Still dissapointed with the online though, i expected to be as perfect as offline play.

I´ll be back latter.

Doesnt sound like it fixed anything then.

Only lag i always got was when there were to many men in the box. On corners etc etc..

Question on the Wenb option file. Do i have to delete all my edited done to my national team in order to install this file?

The offline slowdown is almost completely gone - haven't tried online yet.

But is it just me, or is the quality of the visuals decreased a little? It seems that they have removed some of the AA - the visuals (especially the goalposts) seem more jaggy now.

I thought it was just me but I think you are right, wish I had the old version to compare, ah well I will happily take worse visuals for better game play, although I do wonder how uncharted and cod4 are rock solid and Pes isnt

Lowering the graphics level would help the game run better, although surly they wouldnt need to do this considering the hardware it's running on.

Seems online is just as bad as ever from what i've read on Pesfan.

thats tru I have had a couple of slight slowdowns 30-35 yards out and couple halfway line on the touchline which also gave me a screen tear.

But the game working much better not bothered if they had to water graphics to do so.

Anybody noticed the game been slowed slightly. A gripe I had with Master league that I found seems also gone. The AI could barge and kick lumps out of you and they rarely got a freekick against. Yet you breathed near them and you gave freekicks against. It was hard enough than have this annoying problem.

Since the patch its really good ebb and flow still toughish for me but its now a joy to play offline. One thing maybe an impending issue for some is default players on the hardest level in master league. I found they can out pace AI players. They seem to be much stronger physically than before the patch too and able to hold of and ride challenges.

Maybe this how they modified it but could this make it easier to master the master league. I had not won before the patch yet first game won 3-2. Before it was nigh impossible to even get into a position of threat.

All in all I like the patch its given me back my Pes love.:DD

95% offline slowdown/lag has almost gone just noticed a minor goalmouth one from a corner but nowhere near the slowmo standards of pre patch just a slightly. As a lot reporting the patch has helped online only slightly but this might be a server based issues not the actual game. If that is the case The patch wont fix that.

Finally some good news ...
but I still hope them to fix the online !!

BUt one thing I have noticed when I play online yesterday BEFORE the patch is up,
most teleporting disappeared ... I have some lag still but definitely a lot less than before, and keep in mind, this is before the patch is up .. on last night, that is why I think they did something to the Server to help the online lag .. and the less lag online ppl are claiming now is not from the patch, is from some server upgrade instead.

11-26-2007, 19:08
Well the fact that they have already released a patch (eventhough we don't know for sure what it has exactly fixed yet) ..that means the online problem won't last for long ..hopefully!

To me ...online still has not changed. Offline is perfect just the way it was. I love the game and never been addicted to PES more than now!

Yes, or install it on a different account.

You bend it by holding a direction before and after you kick the ball.

So if you start out by aiming all the way left and then hold right and shoot and continue to hold right then your shot will bend right? By the way, after the patch my offline game still suffer from poor framerate. Maybe I shouldn't have the game installed to my hard drive? Wait, was I supposed to delete my old option files in order to make the patch work? I downloaded the patch but never did anything with my option files, just kept using them. Maybe that's the problem?

To use that OF you will lose your edited data.

The graphics are lowered - you can see this on the goalposts - they are more jaggy now. It seems that Konami have removed the antialising, or most of it, from the game. Before the update, the graphics was a lot more soft and smooth.

after now playing awhile forzanerazzurri I have encountered more and more lag/slowdown in the master league like samonuske is reporting. As yet not checked clubs like real madrid which I noticed before the patch caused major slowdowns. Not checked outside master league to see if we been given the qualifier goodies.

On the slowdowns it appears worse as you play more and more games it slowly deterorates. As yet its not got as bad as pre patch when it was totally playable but those lags do take a shine of it especially in corners. Hopefully it will still be very playable not get to the state before patch.

Corners still on ocasions are making it hard to defend or attack as the slowdown strikes affects your judgement to attack the ball.

Yes I own HD TV myself although not what I deem expensive. You do question whats there Test display a 10 grand plasma.

ps footnote during playing on hardest level in master league. I actually noticed Team vision was working very well.

Cheers mate, nice to see someone sensible on the forums tonight!

Also, the sad thing is not everyone has there PS3 connected to the internet, so they have to make do with an incomplete game!

I hate to bash PES, I have loved it since ISS and this has been the most I have ever looked forward to it. I thought for the first time it would make the step up and not only bring good gameplay but good graphics and overall appearance for the first time.

Instead it became an arcade game. Gameplay is far to fast, anyone thinking this game speed is realistic obviously doesn't watch football! And the ball flying at 100mph in the air doesnt help.

The menu screens are quite simply awful and they havent even released a squad update!

I admit Fifa is still bad, the main thing that bothers me is the lack of response with the players and I miss the excellent shooting from Pro evo, still feels like a lottery on Fifa!

But for the first time ever the graphics and presentation actually have made a big difference on Fifa. The in-game news, the music and overall presentation are fantastic!

But most importantly its fun online and offline doesn't lag and replays are perfect!

what do you mean by ANTIALIASING ... I do not get this exactly ..

Before the update players and the enviroment in the game had more antialiasing applied to them. Antialiasing helps smoothing out jagged lines. I notice this the most on the players from distance, but also on the goalposts - they are not straight like before, but slightly jagged!

A patch oh my god! A patch!!

/me runs furiously like a cartoon character to download it

Edit: After the patch the offline mode is perfect. No notable slowdowns on replays or anywhere else. Very smooth gameplay, well done, now we are getting there.
The online mode still needs quite some work to be done though, I guess in the next patch they will focus on the online mode.

I wish I could save the replays though. A guy was in my area attacking, like 5 meters from my goalkeeper, then he passes quickly the ball to his goalkeeper on the other side of the court which with his turn shots and scores from there.(all that in 2 seconds)

Upon further review my game now runs smoother, the gameplay is flawless visually, don't get me wrong there are still tons of AI flaws, and the replays are nearly flawless but now when I go to PK's after extra time it goes twice as fast and it's crazy. It doesn't really matter because it was hard to read the shooter's foot even at normal speed but now it is 100% guess. Anyone else experience this?
