yeah Indeed Kaka, C. Ronaldo and Ronaldinho :heart::heart:
Add Messi to that. He's become a phenomemal player at Barça this season and has shown some world class play at the Copa America these last few weeks. The team at Konami will surely have noticed he's becoming one of world's greatest players. Look out for him in the final against Brazil this Sunday!

You can do some cool chips in the PS2 version of PES, but they are almost impossible on 360.
pes2008 looks like it will be the biggest football game on the ps3
I hope they keep the R2 shot in, love using that to curl shots into the corners, so much fun.

Dont worry my friend that shoot is not going anywhere:mrgreen:

Of course it will. I would like that someone makes better football game but right now PES doesent have competition IMO:)

I dunno about the R2 shot, when i can remember to use it i always seem to balloon it over, i guess its good for finishing. I much prefer holding R1 when charging and then holding Triangle to burst the ball towards goal. Of course not needed when usuing Adriano as he has 95% ball bursting skill :x

How much you wanna bet not all Ronaldos skills will be in PES 2008. In fact i bet his inside step skill wont be in it lol..I hope it is cause Fifa already has it.
Mikeyt086

I hope it is too mate.
You know the way Dinho, Ronaldo and Ibra can do the Flip-flap with 2 taps of R2, well that should be a singnature move for the player, and Ronaldo could have the Direction change, like you Tap R2 3 times and a direction and bam.

I really want this skill in but like you don't believe Konami will put it in.
It really needs to be in as it is the most common trick now, everyone does it.
In fact, maybe konami should put all these tricks in - Cristiano Ronaldo Skills
(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=euMu1SKi-ak)
dang....Ronaldo on the front cover of the EU version..dats gonna be soo good...
and for those of u u who think that previous PES covers suck...last years cover which featured the AUssie team(only avilable in aussie) was pretty hopefully....we'll get ROnaldo this tym instead of the Auzzie team
btw ppl my PSN id is fiero911 , add me if u guys wanna play PES...
I'd rather anyone except for that cheating twat Ronaldo. ;)

Exterior Stadium Shots/Cut-Scenes In PES 2008? (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/exterior-stadium-shotscut-scenes-in-pes.html)

An interesting possibility coming out today thanks to a very close friend of W.E.N.B. based in France who directed us to a scan from French video-game magazine JEUX VIDEO. The magazine article suggests the PES 2008 will have cut-scenes at the beginning of the game showing off the stadium. For example, if you're playing a Milan vs. Man Utd showdown in Milan then you will get a cut-scene of the San Siro before the game starts.
The magazine has an exterior picture of a stadium which the magazine says is the Leipzig Stadium (Zentralstadion), but the most popular suggestion being Estadio Dragao (FC Porto). It is unclear at this point if this is exactly what the magazine is pointing out but check out the images below and keep checking W.E.N.B. for further updates on this and other features.

Those freaking a-holes said it was some stadium in Leipzig. That stadium was made after the architect saw Estádio do Dragão (FCPorto)...he loved it so he copied it. The real one is here in Portugal ;)
Its cool that Konami already released two screens of my club's stadium :D
BTW, nice feature if its actually true ;)
Man...i just want this game more and more everyday. Also i saw this somewhere forgot where tho but it said that there could be a new commentry team in this years PES im 99.9% sure it isnt true but just though i would ask you guys? I think they need a new commentry team tho as i think thats one of the main things thats lacking in pes atm..
AHAH. LOL, suckers.
To bad the pic is in low quality =\
Pre order now available at Game, for the pricely sum of £49.99
With a release date of October.

Indeed, we need a PES icon...plus a new Killzone icon would be cool too :D
Yup it hit that ;)

PES is looking every bit as gorgeous as the previous games. When i say previous i mean PES4, never got 5 or 6, didn't see the point.
Hopefully I can still scream in awesome free kicks over the wall.
October is my birth month, PES will make it very special indeed.

LOL i know! What do you take me for?
I still hold Triangle after a shot from outside the box as it adds more power to your shot same way as in freekicks.

Maybe its for a new mode....? :S

07-17-2007, 11:57
we'll probably see it in replays or maybe as a part of Master League or a brand new mode...'m sure this pic is linked to the one where a guy is giving interview to his fans
I'd suggest that this is the secret feature Konami has been tight lipped so far.
Remember that inside guy from the PES blog site who got some insight into that game and said someting like this: "It would be crazy if they could pull it off..."
I guess Konami not only wants to focus on the football game itself like everyone in the game industry has done before but they want to integrate the fans into the gaming experience and make it a significant part of the gameplay that may influence the success of your team in a certain game mode. As like the fan base being not satisfied with your teams performance and that would have some inpact on the mental state of some of your teams players with a not so solid state of mind which are set under pressure because of the demanding fans...
You know, the total psychological aspect of football. That would be crazy!
And after each match (maybe also during the half time break) you would see footage blending in of what's going on in the fan club bar of your team. That would be so cool to see all the fans there moaning around if your team is lags behind...
Well, that is my suggestion. And if Konami can pull that kind of mind-blowing stuff off, then we are trully in for an awesome footy experience! Amen.

That's exactly what I think this will be used for. Probably we'll see a Moral "gauge" next to the players name in addition to the one that shows if he is fit or not.
If they can actually implement this feature nicely, it could be really really interesting! Get some Football Manager groove on for PES one could say :p
I'm not worried with the techincal aspects of the game, as they always nail those. I just hope they can put the presentation (y'know, sound, licensed teams, etc.) of the game aswell as the online play at the same level!
I'm sure they will do it just fine
Finally well see some footage!

PS3 PES 2008 playable for the first time at Leipzig
http://www.wonderwallweb.com/PES_2008_070606155126_sm.jpg
9:00am on August 23rd will mark a historic date for football fans and games players across Europe, as Konami uses the Games Convention in Leipzig to show the PLAYSTATION®3 version of PES 2008 for the first time.
Visitors to the Konami stand (Hall 4, Booth B11) will be the first people to get a hands-on play of the eagerly-awaited next generation football title, which is just one of dozens of big new titles from the publisher. With more details to follow, Konami has whet appetites with the announcement that key members of its development teams will be on hand to present new titles, including Koji ‘IGA’ Igarashi who will be showing Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles for PSP® (PlayStation®Portable). Similarly, William Oertel, who is overseeing Silent Hill Origins for PSP® will unveil the future of the series.
PES 2008 will be released in Autumn and introduces ‘Teamvision’, a unique system of artificial intelligence that adapts according to an individual’s style of play to create the balanced and strategic play of a high stakes match. Player detail and animation have also been taken to incredible details thanks to the high-definition power afforded by the Next Gen hardware, and visitors to Games Convention 2007 will also be invited to play the game on PC, Xbox 360 and more.
“We will witness one of the most exciting system changes ever at this year’s Games Convention,“ commented Martin Schneider, Sales and Marketing Director Germany for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “We can promise visitors and gamers in Leipzig that Konami will play a major role in this year´s gaming year – delivering new games and additions to popular franchises, while producing exciting games for new systems and established formats.”
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH can be found during the GC from august 23rd to 26th in hall 4, booth B11. Further details will be announced shortly.

Yeah i was thinking the same but like said above probs a feature in master league or something..maybe even like half time feedback or it maybe even show the fans when the goals go in like they do during the world cup..would be an amazing feature imo 8)
Well this confirms it, the game is being deveolped on the PS3 as the lead SKU.
I cant wait to see it runing...! Come on Leipzig!
if the multiplayer mode server is different depend on the version of PES2008 (usa, europe, asia),
which version are you guys going to buy?
I am living in the usa and have a jap console ps3, and i still cannot decide which version (usa, europe or asia) of PES i should buy for playing online with others !!!!!
Obviously buy the EUro version, its where the most and better players are...at least that´s what i would do:P
Role on Leipzig cant wait to see this game running should be amazing been looking forward to this game for months :p
Definately Euro version
Americans can't play PES
The french PSM guys have played the game and will show it in the August edition...it comes out July 25th. Might pay attention to it but i wont be here to post it.
Now that i think of it, i rather just see a trailer from the game but no gameplay. Then i would only see it for the first time in my HDTV when i get the game, that would blow me away! Total surprise..=P
This will be hard!
Next months French edition of PSM3 will have some information and possibly new images of PES 2008. Special thanks to Thomas for finding out. The magazine cover states "Enorme: on a joué au PES Next-gen et on vous fait la totale" translated to english meaning "Enormous: we played PES next-gen and we will show you all". Well we all can't wait to see what they have seen and played and possibly any new scoop they may have on the game and the highly anticipated changes to the Master League.
The magazine is set for release on the 25th of July, so stay tuned as we are sure to have some scans and translation of the article thanks to our French associates

PES 2008 nets Michael Owen (http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=19110)
http://maxconsole.com/assets/gfx/dot_clear.gif
Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH has announced that Michael Owen, the Newcastle and England striker, is to feature on the UK packaging and promotional materials of PES 2008 – the latest incarnation of the multi-million-selling Pro Evolution Soccer series.
Michael Owen is one of the most exciting and prolific strikers in the English game, and will join Cristiano Ronaldo on the UK packshots of PES 2008. Since making his first team debut in 1997, Owen has built a reputation for pace and skill, netting over 178 league goals, and 37 for England. His reputation spans the globe, making Michael the perfect compliment to Cristiano Ronaldo’s status on the world stage, and creating an enviable pairing for the new game.
The striker will feature alongside Ronaldo on packaging and point-of-sale materials for UK versions of PES 2008, which will launch on PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PC-DVD, PlayStation®2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable) and Nintendo DS (http://www.divineo.cn/php/affstart.php?affcode=66623&prod=ds-nds) in the Autumn. As befits a game endorsed by two of the leading talents of the modern game, PES 2008 represents a massive step forward for the Pro Evolution Soccer series and includes the advent of the new Teamvision AI system.
Teamvision actively monitors the player’s onscreen movements and adapts its response, forcing the player to constantly revise and alter their strategy during the course of a match. PES 2008 also boasts stunning attention to visual detail with the faces of players animated and shirts creasing during a match. The new game also includes extensive Edit modes in all Next Generation versions, and closer control than ever before.
“Securing Michael Owen is a real coup for Konami,” commented Jon Murphy, Pro Evolution Soccer Team Leader for Konami Digital Entertainment GmbH. “Since he burst on to the scene, he has proven himself an incredible goal-scorer, netting at every level both domestic and international. We are delighted to be working alongside such a talent on PES 2008.”
“PES 2008 is a fantastic game, and the only choice for pro players,” added Michael Owen. “It enjoys a brilliant reputation within many, many players and manages to be a true simulation of football while also being a real laugh to play. I look forward to working closely with Konami in the run up to launch, and being a key part of its development.”
PES 2008 will be released for PLAYSTATION®3, Xbox 360, PlayStation 2, PSP® (PlayStation®Portable), PC-DVD and Nintendo DS (http://www.divineo.cn/php/affstart.php?affcode=66623&prod=dsl-dslcw) in Autumn.Source (http://www.maxconsole.net/?mode=news&newsid=19110)
So its going to be Cristiano Ronaldo and Michael Owen on the U.K cover
Wow, I didn't see this coming. Konami are spending all this money, Owen doesn't come cheap, and I bet they spend nothing on licenses.
However, could this mean a licensed Newcastle United? :-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D:-D
I don't really want any Newcastle player to be associated with the cheating Ronaldo however.

Yeah Ronaldo is a big cheat and i always want someone to snap the guy as i cant stand him BUT hes a great footballer probobley one of the best in Prem or even the world and theres more to come from in the future too imo. And as for Owen signing with Pro Evo thats a big suprise i would have thought they could have got someone better than him and he wont come cheap either but i dont really care i just cant wait to buy PES on the release day and some trailers before hand :D

They definitely could have got someone better than Owen, My preference would have been Gerrard or maybe even Drogba because him and Ronaldo ripped the premiership apart last season.

Heres W.E.N.B's reaction to the news:
Not to say that Micheal Owen is a bad player or role-model, however he has been out of the game for so long I think most people worldwide thought that he had given up! Anyway, another point to mention is that in the press release picture he is wearing the official Newcastle kit for next season, so maybe Newcastle Utd are licensed??? I think that would definetly be a shock considering Konami have usually focused on teams from the Big Four (Man Utd, Liverpool, Arsenal & Chelsea). I'm sure this news will bring joy on Tyneside today, thats for sure. As for me i'm going to cry because my mate Gerrard deserves to be on the cover!

With all dued respects, Michael Owen is far from the player that he used to be. If this were 1998 and we were talking about WE4, I would definitely agree with getting Michael on the cover. But right now, Steven Gerrard would have been a much much better choice. Or Kaka :) Whichever one you prefer.
But everybody will still buy this game, right? ;) Support St. Micky! (and let's hope he'll have a much better season this time around)

I like that you support Owen still.
Being a Newcastle fan I really hope he starts to score goals again, however as a Newcastle fan I am yet to warm to him.
Every interview he does its all about himself or England, he doesn't care less about Newcastle and now theres talk of him being captain. Not so sure myself.
As for his playing career he scores goals for fun but seemed to lose his pace very quickly.
Showing him in a Newcastle shirt in the press release is superb and will hopefully mean that they are licensed, but thats still useless if the rest of the premier league isn't.

So, the cover should have Ronaldo lifting the Premiership trophy or one of his 3 player of the year awards on one side... And then Michael Owen on a stretcher or perhaps cruches on the other?

Yeah the length of time it took him to confirm he was staying this season put me right off him tbh, it was like the only reason he stayed was because no one else wanted him. He'll have to have a quality season to win most of the fans back.
Hope this means we are fully licensed though, our strip didn't even have stripes on Pro Evo 6 :|

LOL...as if only Ronaldo did that...! So many players do that! The difference is Ronaldo is too fast with the ball, so it´s easier to fault.

Yeah or i think refs should just be stricter if they introduced camera and if the ref thinks its a dive just his assistant checks the camera and says weather its a dive and if so they should be booked and if it a bad dive that could change the game round the area or in the area they should be sent off and that would change there views on diving and it would cut it out of the game. Probobley wont happen tho but i strongly believe it should be diving recks the wonderful game i love playing and love watching too!

You would fall over alot too if you ran as fast as he did. People who support videos like that are just haters. Fact is he wins games, and trophies. "No matter what anyone says, Ronaldo is a cheat." - Yeah, thats not ignorant at all... I suppose you support Emre's racism? Steven Taylor's deliberate handball and the rediculous acting? Ronaldo is an easy target because he dicked your club around when they came to Old Trafford, dont hate.
Might have gone a bit over the top there but Ronaldo-Bashing does my head in.
Oh and the sinbin idea is good. I heard FIFA were going to introduce a Yellow Armband system for the World Cup, if you dived you got given an armband for the rest of the tournament so ref's new you were acting up.
Ridiculous. The guys gets fouled TONS of times, and you call him a cheat...lol. So i guess when Ronaldinho falls he is also cheating.
I told you, fast players with skills tend to fall more often when they lose balance.
And also dont say that only players from Portugal, Spain or Italy fall on pourpose....ALL players do that one way or the other.

Sad that such great players from Italy, Spain, Portugal et etc dive so much... they are cheats... but sadly they do not feel this way and belive they are doing nothing wrong!!
Sinbins for diving should be introduced.
Is it sad that those "cheats" are the best players in the world, by far ;)
Bet your head got pretty big when Portugal beat good ole' England two times in a row, huh?! Euro 2004 and in the World Cup last year
Anyways, peace out and enjoy football!
P.S. Did anyone post this already?!

In an emergency update, news has filtered through from various magazines regarding PES 2008! Thanks once again to our legend Thomas & Riquelme10, we have some news from the French version of PlayStation Official Magazine. This magazine (pictured) doesnt really show us anything new regarding pictures, but it does hint towards some new features.
Heres a download link to get all the scans from the magazine, but be warned: No new pics and its all in French!:
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=7OSYX4H0
First of all is the inclusion of Ghana and Ivory Coast, both now fully licensed. More interestingly, the magazine also hints that diving is now a new feature in the game! Im sure it's a feature that many will be unsure about, but if implemented well it could benefit the game moving forward. Hint to Konami: Look at how This Is Football used it. A lesson in how NOT to do it!
Along with this, another magazine has told readers of more new features coming our way. Coming from German PC magazine Gamestar, it confirms a few things the PlayStation mag spoke of including a few extras. Here is a run down:
- 3 Buttons combination to press for a dive.
- Very difficult to dive, because the referee's often give you the yellow card.
- Gameplay and Passing faster.
- Shooting is better/harder.
- No difference between PC/Xbox 360/PS3 version.
- Licenses for Fenerbace and Sao Paulo.
- No Black screen after fouls.
- Player profiles with stats.

There, diving will be in PES 2008! Ha!, how about that boys?! :p

So i guess you can CHEAT and dig for fouls! But you can get a yellow card! MUAH.
I suppose you support Emre's racism?
Never accuse me of supporting racism, you *****.
I have every right to react angrily here, I don't see that as a joke. And it was unproven.
You have no right, were all joking about Ronaldo, I have said he is a superb player. I am not jealous, I know Newcastle are rubbish and I accept that, and still support them.
Like I said Ronaldo is great, but he does cheat. Of course hes more likely to 'fall over' as he dribbles more than anyone else. However the amount of penalties he dives for, mostly against Middlesborough, proves he cheats.
Another point, do you play football? If so try and dive everytime somebody misses you, its not easy unless you practice, some people have a conscience.
Don't worry TheDude is a newcastle United fan, he wouldn't know anything about skilled players:rolleyes::rolleyes:
No I wouldn't, except for maybe Ginola, Waddle, Beardsley, Gascoigne.
Shearer and Owen, Ferdinand and Andy cole although not skilled aren't bad either.
Have a look at the top 10 premiership scorers, I think you'll find 4 of them have played for Newcastle and scored most of their goals there, except for Owen of course.
LOL...as if only Ronaldo did that...! So many players do that! The difference is Ronaldo is too fast with the ball, so it´s easier to fault.
Watch messi, hes half the size of Ronaldo, yet pushes everyone of the ball around him and hardly ever dives. He is a true world class player.
Messi vs Getafe (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DbUh5HxeiWc)
Ronaldo would have dived 3 times at least here, Messi stays up.
He does do the hand of god however.

Awesome features, good imo that dives are included as even tho i dint agree with diving its apart of the game nowadays weather we like it or not. Also good to see there no black screens after fouls as that sometime loses the realistic feel, only a small thing but can improve the game alot imo. Good post man :)

Sure, I'll just keep enjoying the magic coming from Quaresma, C. Ronaldo and so on while you enjoy Fletcher's amazing skills ;)
About the PS3 and 360 being the "same", I couldn't care less. The PS3 is the lead platform for the game which means its version won't be shafted, that's all that matters for me. Anyways, if I had to chose between both versions I would go for the PS3 one undoubtely, no way I am going to play PES in a controller that was made for shooters

I wouldn't say he's a cheat at all, yeah i'm biased as i support United (AND live in Liverpool:DD) but i don't think he's a bad as he used to be, same goe for drogba. I think they realised that by staying on their feet they could be soo much better and they are. But no matter what anyone thinks of Ronaldo you still have to remember he's still young (older than me but oh well) and he's playing on the biggest stage in the prem AND he's a top quality player.
Anyway when did this become a thread about Ronaldo and diving??
PES 2008 is gonna be awesome... Beli'ee dat 8)

Totally agree, amazed that they have included this... it's going to be like Addidas power soccer all over again lol
Funny to see how most of you brits associate Ronaldo with diving...as if he is diving all the time on pourpose or as if other players dont do the same!
In today´s football it has become a part of the game, i never seen a full game where a player hasnt simulated a foul.
Glad Konami included this finally.

Actually, from what they explained, its going to be pretty hard to dive, as it requires a 3 button "combo". Plus, your gonna have to really be an artist to pull it off and making the ref believe you.
Anyways, enough talking about diving and cheats, lets talk about PES in general.
I'll start: how much do you think PES kicks FIFA's ass in a scale of 1 to 10? For me its a 10, no chance whatsoever :p That game got frozen in time, way back in 99' :D
Oh, I hate players like that.
It pissed me off when Grosso dived in the Italy v. Australia WC match for the PK... Australia deserved that win.

I like diving, but NOT this way...pressing buttons to dive?!?!Thats stupid, because Gattuso NEVER dives and you could do it with him if it is by pressing buttons. Why Konami dont take a look at FM and see that this is a PERSONALITY trait of the players. They should make it auto,so if you driblle with someone that have a dive trait(or a "star" ability in this case) you have a good chanche that he will dive(you may not want it,but thats comes from the skills of the dribller),but when you driblle with Gattuso,Adriano or other player with Does not Dives "star"(if they took that traits from FM,which would be perfect) he wont dive even if you press 6 buttons. Please contact Konami if you can and fix that, thats not good news the way it is now.Excellent idea

As far as visuals go. FIFA doesn't have the players animation down pat. Everyone looks like a chicken when they run. Plus i don't understand why people say FIA has better sound. I assume they mean the music, which never palys when you are in a game. The only thing i will say FIFA has over PES is commentary...PES stinks at that, ugh.
However, there is no way in hell that i will play FIFA because of that.
Messi doesn't cheat? I think Jose Mourinho believes differently:
He can think differently all he likes, he set his players out that night to attack Messi. And I do believe there was some contact there. Watch in slow motion and I'm sure you'll see it.
If he didnt jump it was a broken leg.
That was Totti...........................
No it wasn't. ;)
And lastly, about the whole Cristiano Ronaldo thing. Ill say this once more, he is a fantastic player and will only get better.
However, he dives more than anybody in the Premiership. Robben also does and Drogba every now and then. Although Drogba is doing something about it.
Of course us Brits get annoyed as it was never part of our game and now Ive even seen Gerrard do it a couple of times.
Diving is deceiving the referee to gain an advantage - Cheating

Are you kidding? The crowd chants in Fifa are realistic....ie recorded at matches... if you think PES has better crowd noises you really need to get ya ears tested.
Robben, Drogba, Gerrard all dive more than Ronaldo but Ronaldo gets noticed for diving because he gets hacked out every week cos he's just too good at running with the ball.

OMG I need to stop reading this thread. Gerrard dives more than Ronaldo? Are you serious?
Why don't people see diving as wrong?
The only problem with this being in the game is that some matches online people are just going to be diving constantly.
I think Ive found the explanation to why he dives, watch in full to the end.

PSM3 France PES 2008 Scans! (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/psm3-france-pes-2008-scans.html)
Monday, 23 July 2007
A wonderful way to start the week thanks to Thomas & Carlo[pits], providing us with the much anticipated scans from the French edition of PSM3. Completely fresh screen shots of the game that have never been seen before. The article also highlights further new features:
- Untucked shirts
- Full 3D fans
- Amazing collisions
- Very realistic goalkeepers
- New Menu system, much simpler with blue world map as the background.
- No more scripts, better control of the player.
- The ball physique looks heavier.
Great to see untucked shirts being in there, as it was being suggested previously that it wouldn't be in the game. Without further ado, here are the scans!

My personal highlight from these images is seeing more fully licensed national teams and kits. Its great that the images also show more new faces i.e. Messi, Mascherano, Juan etc. The list above also puts alot of peoples minds to rest with regards to the untucked shirts. Hopefully as the translation of the article comes through we will be updating the post.

I AM RAGING they didnt put Ronaldo's FK style in the game. WHY? He is the effin cover man, nobody takes free kicks the way the are in PES6, arched over the ball like an awkward idiot. :( Also he always wears untucked shirts, you think he would get more attention being on the cover...
Gutted about that, but goalies for corners sounds good. GFX look very smooth this year. They promise no scripts every year but they never deliver, in leagues if the computer is going to score they will score and there is nothing you can do.

Im sure they will, or atleast do the untucked shirt thing. Otherwise it takes 2 seconds to edit him so that he has his shirt untucked.
You really do like Ronaldo don't you.
It does annoy me some of the rubbish freekicks and PK animations. Hopefully the chipped penalty will be in this time.
It is however little things like this which Konami needs to pay attention to, some of the facial animations don't look great again.
Im worried they are going to have hardly any new licences also.

About Diving:

Now all that remains is to know how the arbiters will sanction it and if this phase of play is not too repetitive with long.
About Quick Restart:
Translation:
You certainly remember that in spite of the possibility of quickly playing after the ref blows this phase from play did not show exemplary fluidity. From now on, the black screen and keys (L1+R1) died and replaced by a simple pressure on (X) more one direction to see the players connecting the master key directly. A good means to work around defense? To see over the duration.
About Player Models:
Détails: si la modélisation des corps n'est pas d'une complexité affolante, en revanche les visages sont criants de vérité. Lci vous reconnaîtrez Kaka sans difficulté. Quel bonheur!

More PES 2008 Joy From Germany (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/more-pes-2008-joy-from-germany.html)
Tuesday, 24 July 2007
This time coming from Deutschland via PC magazine PC Powerplay we have the first PES 2008 celebration image and a host of other images we have seen before. Already this is shaping up to be a great week following yesterday's fresh scans and today we see the Cristiano Ronaldo celebration and another fresh shirt pulling image.
http://bp2.blogger.com/_Qp7Fv2WWaew/RqXVuMuzSiI/AAAAAAAAARs/HdXBhFH6soo/s200/scanvw6.jpg (http://bp2.blogger.com/_Qp7Fv2WWaew/RqXVuMuzSiI/AAAAAAAAARs/HdXBhFH6soo/s1600-h/scanvw6.jpg)
The level of detail in the facial animations for Cristiano Ronaldo is incredible and unlike anything we have ever seen in a football/soccer game before. It just shows the amount of work and detail that Konami are putting into this game. It fantastic to see more shirt-pulling in action, also now that people know that untucked shirts wasnt sacrificed for it!
Here are the full scans of the magazine below.

Im sure they will, or atleast do the untucked shirt thing. Otherwise it takes 2 seconds to edit him so that he has his shirt untucked.
You really do like Ronaldo don't you.
You would like him too if he played for your club.:)
I like how we are getting more and more pics everyday, but i just need to see that gameplay. Also 18GB? No chance, its already been confirmed that the 360 and PS3 will be the same and 360 discs can only take 8GB of space. Plus i dont think PES 2008 will be the biggest game in history, i think they will save 18GB for GTA IV.
I think the celebrations look pretty poor on PES, if you think how players actually celebrate... They dont jog to the corner, drop to their knees and shake on their own for a bit. We need to see more piggy-backs, and more emotion and interaction with fans. 2006 FIFA World Cup on Xbox 360 had great celebration with dynamic cameras that shook and rattled as you saw the player screaming, that should be the way forward.
Another thing ive noticed is, commentary, when they score, its always "Oh, its a goal", no commentator would say that, it would be "GEEEEERRRRRRAAAARRRDDDDDD!!! WHAT A HIT SON, WHAT A HIT!!!"
"Thats his second goal this evening." would be more like "Wayne Rooney bags his second, and United have a 3-1 lead". We need the commentator to identify the player and team.
Peter Brackley sounds way to posh for football, if he was the commentator on Pro Evoultion Polo 2008 i wouldnt mind but...

I just read this off the wining eleven blog
Browsing through the Official Japanese Winning Eleven website i read an interesting fact about our beloved game. Last year the game was reported to have broken records in many many countries including France where it was given some sort of cultural award!
Konami have announced that last fiscal year WE/PES sold 8,470,000 copies worldwide! That is a huge stat and just goes to show how many lovers the game has worldwide. So don't forget to get a copy for each of your consoles this year round so we can get those sales figures up higher!
Click here for link (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/wepes-fact-of-day.html)
Wow, considering they sold only 500,000 units in the U.S. that's impressive. :-D I guess this means PES is more of a cash cow than MGS. I'm picking up an american copy of PES2008 for my PS2 so i can play with my brother at home and a european copy for PS3 so i can play online in school.
BTW, does anyone know how i can get my hands on a PAL version since i live in the states?
lmao Im going to have to be good at this game or else Ill get hammered on this thread.
Lol, i don't think i'm stellar or anything. Just proficient enough.
Cheers.

You'l prob find that the PS3 version will be larger due to having full quality audio, while most 360 games get compressed audio.

DROGBA ON FRENCH COVER
Drogba Joins Cristiano On French PES 2008 Cover (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/drogba-joins-cristiano-on-french-pes.html)
The French have unveiled that Didier Drogba of Chelsea FC will be gracing the cover of PES 2008 alongside Cristiano Ronaldo in France (Thanks Thomas). Also included in the article from PSM3 France is news that the behind the heel flick, popularly used by those two players surprisingly enough will also be included in the game. Here is what we mean:

Before we start I would like to thank Falko Windisch for this fantastic translation that must have been very time consuming. I am sure all WE/PES fans salute you my friend. These are the views of the magazine and editor and I believe that they are focusing on the PC version of PES 2008. My assumption is that they were using the Xbox 360 Controller on the PC, however possibly they may have played the 360 version.

PAGE 1Top Left:The face of Christiano Ronaldo looks incredibly real. The protagonists show more emotions then ever during celebrations.Top Right:Freekicks fly with visibly more power towards the goal.Shots and Headers will be more dynamic as well.Bottom Left:3D-menu: During substitutions, you can see in the little window, whichplayers on the bench you have at disposal.Bottom Right:Shirt-pulling is possible in the new installation. Though we could notdetect this unfair action in our Pre-Version.Main:Somethings is changing - the new PES is much more than a repetition with changes in detail. We have tested the new features ourselves.Do you believe in coincidence? Konami had just presented young star Cristiano Ronaldo as cover face for PES 2008. Now we discover a brand new dive-feature in the first playable Version. Just to remind you: Cristiano Ronaldo was memorable during the WC 2006 mainly by his performance as an actor. We don't believe in a connection, the Portuguese dribble star meanwhile belongs to the best and well known players on our planet. Still a nice sidenote."The PES-fans" have repeatedly requested the dive-feature, now we have implemented it into the game. If the new move does not get accepted, it will be gone next year", Konamis PR-Manager explains. Sure we tried the free flying in the first matches. For this, we keep the shoulder-buttons of the Microsoft-controller pressed and perform the dive with the left trigger. The first amateurish attempts are punished by the official immediately with a yellow card. If the referee is standing in a bad position, he gives a Penalty.PAGE 2Top Left:Frequent cut-scenes spice up the master league mode. The graphical quality of the little movies is more on the weak side.Top Right:If the decisive goal is scored shortly before the end of the game, even the players on the bench in the background come running to join the celebration.Main:The game play on. But soon after we succeed. We dribble around a defender and enter the box. Then we slow down, let the defender come near from behind. A second opponent closes in from the left. Now our player goes to the ground, the ref points at the mark - penalty! Other than the dive we got to try other new moves. If we keep the shoulder buttons pressed when being on height with the box, the winger now turns towards the goal. From this position, crosses can be played harder and with better precision. If we want to get rid of our opponent with a hook, we push the ball a little ahead and sprint behind it.
The quick free-kick feature was also improved. Before the opposing team can form, we pass the ball to a teammate with the analogue-stick.Wall buildingOne of the biggest complaints of PES has also been taken care of by Konami: the wall during free-kicks. Now the big guys cover the short corner, the smaller fellows stand on the goalies side. Dwarfs like Claude Makelele don't find their place in the wall anymore! Adding to that you can now decide, how many players block the way. If you predict a direct shot, put more players in the wall. If you believe the ball might be passed, a three man wall will suffice.Free-kicks now have considerably more power, so do headers and shots. Especially a running volley screams through the air in a way, that you can barely follow the ball with your eyes. New animations have also been added, like the jumping slide tackle. Doing this, the defender completely extends his legs straight and plays the ball with the underside of the boot. Beware a leg being in between ... painstruck or happy faces further add emotions on the pitch. Best shown are the mimic features during goal celebrations. But defenders also don't stay expression-less after a conceded goal, but sometimes curse along.Public ViewingAlmost perfect animations always were responsible for the high level of realism of the series. In PES 2008 now excellent player models come along. On the cheek of the new Bayern player Frank Ribery we find his scar. Also ex-world footballer of the year Ronaldinho looks all identical to the original including even the headband. But the developers cheated a little with the movement of his hair. While the ends move with the wind, the rest of the haircut looks cemented with hairspray. The haircut of italian Andrea Pirlo is another good example for this. The developers did not put much focus on the graphical quality of the stadia and the audience - until now at least. More consideration is put on the licenses.
This time a lot more teams are said to have original names and kits. In the pre-version the data was from the last season. The reason: license-negotiations are still in full progress. We would have liked to tell you more about the new Teamvision-feature. But we didn't see anything of a learning or adapting AI during our 3 hour trial-session. The gameplay seems to be only minimally changed from the brilliant predecessor.Andreas Szedlak:The early version still suffered from slowdowns, further the kits are from last season. That I still would have loved to take the disc home, says it all. Thanks to the perfected ball-physics the game wins on dynamic. And the players look considerably more real due to the new graphics engine.Latest strenghts and weaknesses:- Football was never more realistic- Interesting new dive feature- Regular slowdowns- Weak stadium graphics
Potential: GreatWe can see some new features/changes to the game from the article. As always W.E.N.B. is dedicated to bringing you the latest and best worldwide.

Dont worry about slowdowns, there is no chance this would be released with slowdowns!
As for diving, Ill have to wait to see how that goes. It could be really good fun online but if you're playing the same people online regularly then you can just agree not to use it.

I KNOW! When Messi did his little "trick" the Sky commentators laughed and complimented him, i was just sitting there like wtf, he could have just cheated the league title.

Imagine if folk find a way to be awarded a pen all the time, has the potential to spoil online completely.... just like Adriano spoils online on the 360
If they muck up the diving they could ruin the game but if they don't make it too easy to dive it should be alright

The article written by the editor is called "A paradise for cheaters" and he explains how the new diving feature may have ruined the game. However, he was very surprised at how well the new feature works. Overall the game is looking fantastic and plays incredibly well.

W.E.N.B. Team Sorry for Multiple posts, it was the neatest way to do it! So Much Information!
I think thats the dive combination thing at the top of one of the screenshots, pretty fitting that they use Ronaldo to demonstrate it
No licenses for the Premiership is pretty poor, but it'll be alright as long as its got full editing features, unlike the 360 version of PES6.

They will have licenses for the premier league. Especially since they have Ronaldo, Owen, and Drogba on their covers. At least this is what i believe.
*crosses fingers*
Do you guys think they'll throw in other leagues like in PES07 so you can create whole leagues that aren't in the game?

Nice one dude!! Certainly starting to look the part now!! Cant wait to see it in motion!!
It certainly is, although Ive not said much about the images I wasn't hugely impressed, but now Ive seen these Im am massively impressed.
And there is alot of licensed teams in there.
However, although its all about the Gameplay, it really needs the Premiership licensed. This is a must, they should spend whatever they need to to get this license.
Although I never play with German teams only one team being licensed isn't really good enough.
One of the major things I'm hoping for is that Konami release Squad updates after the transfer windows. Although we can do it it doesn't work online so I am still playing with Ronaldo at Madrid and Henry at Arsenal online on PES6. This needs to be done.
When I had NHL and NBA 2K7 I was able to download roster updates so there is no excuse really.
They should also update national squads everytime there updated!
Anyone know how to get these videos to play?
First Videos of JL WE2007 CC From Konami Tokyo (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/first-videos-of-jl-we2007-cc-from.html)

The game is almost a week away from release and we have been very patient. The time has come though my friends, to see JL WE2007 CC in motion. I know everybody wants to see PES 2008 in motion but this should keep you occupied for a little while longer while we wait for some beautiful videos of the game in motion.
http://www.konami.jp/we/jwe2007cc/movie/index.html
Some of these videos are the Japanese TV Commercials (Adverts) for the game. However, there is a gameplay montage that lasts a couple of minutes. Personally I think the "Fantasista" mode looks impressive and will keep people locked onto the game for months.
Enjoy,

Another translation, this time of a German Article. http://www.winningelevenblog.com/
Translation of German PC Action Article On PES 2008 (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/translation-of-german-pc-action-pes.html)
Our main man Falko Windisch has done it again, a proper translation of the PC Action article W.E.N.B. brought you earlier. I would like to thank Falko and Lukasz again for this fantastic work.
Pro Evolution Soccer 2008
"A paradise for cheaters"
Lack of sportsmanship as a feature in the football-simulation Pro Evolution Soccer was believed to be impossible for a long time, but now in the version PES 2008 it has come: the players may cheat with consent of the developers. Because if you press 3 of the 4 shoulder-buttons of your gamepad, the kicker lets himself fall to the ground. If you do it cleverly, you get a free kick or a penalty. If you are less gifted with your finger-skills, the ref shows you a yellow card. A festival for cheaters! Allegedly it is only coincidence, that Cristiano "dive-king" Ronaldo will decorate the cover of PES 2008.
You may ask, where have we got these info from? Two weeks ago we visited the sales department of Konami in Frankfurt and convinced ourselves for hours of the quality of the Japanese title using the PC Version. Our impression: fantastic! Especially neat: you don't need to be afraid of eye-cancer any more, for the PC-version is based on the high-definition visuals of the consoles. In plain language: finally a decently high grade of detail, flapping shirts, grass-leaves and even emotions on the kicker's faces. The playability is first class as always, the master league-mode has been pimped by the makers and a new playing-mode, in which you control one single player and accompany him during his career adds more variety. We are enraptured!
In our gallery you can find brand new high definition images.
(Lukasz Ciszewski <http://www.pcaction.de/?author_id=1620>)
So there you have it boys, a proper translation of the PC Action article in English. I love the fact that the "Fantasista" mode is coming to the next-gen systems. Should be alot of fun! A pimped out master league sounds great to me too.
Lots more little details about PES 2008  http://www.winningelevenblog.com/
Further PES 2008 Details From France (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/further-pes-2008-details-from-france.html)
http://bp0.blogger.com/_Qp7Fv2WWaew/RqnmlsuzTHI/AAAAAAAAAWU/WXfT4WOom0U/s200/cover-150-80.jpg (http://bp0.blogger.com/_Qp7Fv2WWaew/RqnmlsuzTHI/AAAAAAAAAWU/WXfT4WOom0U/s1600-h/cover-150-80.jpg)
It seems the European continent keeps providing us with the most insight into changes and additions to the next-gen PES 2008. Over the last couple of weeks information has been flowing from our brothers on the continent and we are eternally grateful. Again thanks to our French associate Thomas, we have further details this time from JOYPAD magazine. Most magazines and major internet gaming sites have by now all received some sort of beta and are providing us with constant details with regards to the game. However, the PS3 version which has been confirmed as the lead SKU is still MIA (Missing In Action). I really, honestly, truly can't wait for Leipzig! Here are the details:
- Joypad tested Xbox 360 version of the game at 75%.
- Immense details on faces for the stars.
- Great collisions
- The referee uses a whistle.
- Many passing-animations.
- Many frame rate problems on Xbox 360 version.
- Gameplay feels the same (guessing compared to PES6).
- Better ball protection (better collision).
- Better control for passing (more sharp).
- Irritated coaches!
- Players pull up their socks.
- New camera on PK (behind the goalkeeper) when the Computer shoots.
- No time to really examine TeamVision (but much better AI on very hard).
- No access to Training mode, Master League and Online mode for the moment.
- Scenario mode on PS2, absent from next-gen.
- Latvia is replaced by Israeli national team.
So a few bits and bobs here and there with regards to the game features and additions etc. The frame rate problem is worrying for most fans, however we do believe that this will be ironed out for the Gold copy or Final release. Frame rate problems on the Xbox 360 or PC should be expected as these versions are ported from the lead SKU and will be optimized for their respective platforms before release.

PES looks like real football in gameplay.
FIFA, ok, i am a FIFA player, i am a Pro Gamer in FIFA as i compete for money and am the Irish champion for the last 2 years running, so i know FIFA. Imo, FIFA makes the players look... i dunno, sick, like they have the flu. And they look very chunkey and fat. Also in motion FIFA is very un-fluid, i mean in FIFA 07 on 360 you could be stuck for 2mins just bumping into someone, which in that game makes you jump back, so tackle is like a game of dodgems. The shooting system is terrible. There are certain ways to score and places to score from, and if you dont shoot from there in a certain way it wont go in. Thats a joke. Then there is the "super-sprint" glitch, which enables people like Ronaldo, Dinho and Henry run 4x faster than other players. I never use these glitches, and as a result i got knocked out of the Fifa Interactive World Cup in Amsterdam back in December, but i didnt want to lower myself to that, EA just let people glitch. The winner would do this. Pick Barca, give it to Ronaldinho, super-sprint all the way down, cut in and lob the keeper from the exact same spot for all 6 of his goals. The tournament was a joke, and all because FIFA is an incredibly flawed game. Any PES tournaments i have been to, the skill is just mind-blowing, of course PES6 online was riddled with cheaters but they never went to the tournaments as thats where the real players are found.
PES > FIFA. End of story.
AFMR-PS3

True man, PES 6 online is full of dumbasses, unfortunately :( There is a 99% chance that the other guy choses either Inter or Brazil and keeps the whole **** game sliding to try to steal the ball (sometimes it so retarded, you just stop, wait for them to slide, and carry on), and to score goals...well, lets just say their idea of owning someone is doing the famous cutback  Go to the line, pass to the middle of the area, and bam!
But I'm hoping these kind of thing will have been worked upon so it isn't so frustrating to play online.
BTW, at the guy saying PES doesn't look fluid...GTFO! ;) Seriously man, what are you on about?
Thats great news to see that list so far and good to see some south american teams in there and teams that havent been licenced in the past so thats great news for PES.Just hope we see them Premiership in there but once thats sorted out thats fine for me would be great :)

Well I think Konami can only license two Premiership teams each year (at least thats what they said in the winning eleven podcast), Also it is more complicated for Konami to gain licenses because they have to do them individually unlike Fifa who has the official Fifa License which pretty much means that they can license any team they want.
i am trying to say what is the point of there only being 3 or 4 licensed teams, (In premiership)
Well why didn't you say so lol
I take you're point but like its been said they are restricted.
I really hope there is a way around it though as its time they licensed the Premiership.
Imagine if that news came out. The Premiership is the biggest league in the world, what if there just waiting to drop the bombshell that they have secured the licenses.
Wishfull thinking I know but I think it could make a huge difference to sales as lack of licenses do put a large amount of people off buying it.

"Whats the point in only 3 or 4 licenced teams?"
Do you think Konami are doing it for fun? Its because EA own the rights, and they will not allow Konami near them because they know that when they do its game over for them. Konami are allowed 3 or 4 teams by law. The FA Premiership rights cost more than La Liga, Serie A, Erdivisie, Ligue 1 and then all the other teams put together because the FA sold out to EA, the other leagues didnt so their rights are affordable.
Its not like Konami choose to have 2 official English teams.

With all due respects, the Asian Cup is um... rather worthless. Look at the teams that participate in the tournament. Only 3 or 4 teams are decent. If any of the bad teams had managed to win the Cup, would they deserve to be in the game? Say... Qatar? Or Malaysia?

I'm annoyed when I first played Pro Evo 6 I tried it online and I thought it was tolerable, but my setup wouldn't allow me to play when i wanted because it meant traveling my PS2 and my TV downstairs.
So now I've got my PS3 and I can now go online upstairs while the routers downstairs thanks to WiFi.
and lo and behold what was my first match?
I decided to go my fave team Liverpool, while my opponent predictably went Inter Milan, I've heard stories that Adriano was unfairly overpowered, anyway we're having a good match I kept Adriano at bay, enjoying myself, and then I score and what does this guy do... he logs off 60 minutes in-game.
Not only does he go a team with an overpowered player, but he doesn't like being a goal down either.
Anyway I really hope with PSN, a standard Hard Drive, and the possibility of dedicated servers (you can play against PC players hope they keep that) that they're able to penalize buggers who do that, I really hope for worldiwde servers to.
dang do I hate online in sports games.

Every online game should have dedicated servers, tbh.

Sorry to hear that. I thought Pro Evo 6 had a system where you can report people like that or something so others know they drop out of games. I would never do that, not even if i had a major trouncing because that's how you learn to get better.
Few more details, nothing much! :-D http://www.winningelevenblog.com/
PSM3 UK Scans (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/psm3-uk-scans.html)
The highly anticipated PSM3 UK magazine due out on the 2nd of August has been nabbed by our associate Rob Taylor (actually he's a subscriber!). Unfortunately, there isn't a video on the DVD and neither is there anything in the way of new information. But as always i would like to thank Rob for the scans and the effort in getting them to us. The magazine claims to have a hands-on preview next month. So i guess we'll have to be patient, but Leipzig's only 24 days away!

The article makes a few statements about the game summarised below:
Tackling's the big change with players constatnly nibbling at their rival's heels.
Fluid, realistic animations dominate i.e. John Terry faces the other way but pokes out a leg when blocking.
Can send defender up for set pieces.
Wingers raise their head before crossing.
Menu's are cleaner. That's it lads, I guess till the next issue after Leipzig.

After examining them they are different to the ones we have seen before although they are from the same passages of play. I have linked the new article from PC Action below if you wanna check it out. It does explain how the new fast free-kick works. We will have a translation a.s.a.p.

Translation (Special Thanks To Falko):
Even more HD-pics!
Well, the pictures we put into our gallery for you are not that new. This news is to be regarded as an addition to the news from Thursday. The first two impressions show how the own goalie storms into the opponent's box during a corner kick near the end of the game. Greetings from Jens Lehmann! The third picture shows a quick free kick. In plain language: after a harmless foul the aggrieved player executes the free kick immediately without interruption in case you timely press the pass-button and a direction. Nice! In the predecessor this seamless transition did not exist, you got the see a black screen for a moment.
By the way: to get all the latest news about Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 you should absolutely visit our buddies from Winningelevenblog.com. Immediately!
Thanks again, Lukasz and Falko. Now, for your viewing pleasure here are some more PES 2008 Full HD images. To get the Full HD please download from our MEGAUPLOAD link.

Maybe on the Xbox but there's no way you can ban someone on PS2 that they can't just make another account.
After playing Resistance online I hope Insomiac Ninja's infiltrate Konami HQ and help them with online.

It's only poor when compared to FIFA. I can't speak for anyone else, but i know this is fact. However, for those who like the subtle details that occur in football (soccer) and want that in a video game PES delivers in spades. The animation in PES is far better than FIFA.
Honestly i would love for both to merge, but in that situation Konami should have control over the games' direction.

Its all about the ball, FIFA just need to sort out the ball but they never could, it always flies about like crazy. The 360 version of FIFA is crap compared to the PS2 version but even that has poor ball physics, but also the players do some really un-natural things. In PES, the ball physics are spot on and the players move in a way that is beliveable.
Graphics wise, i belive FIFA is too chunkey but PES is too boxey. So neither are perfect.

Konami have today announced that West Ham's Australian International defender Lucas Neill will be fronting the cover of PES 2008 with Cristiano Ronaldo for Oceania. Following his great performances in the 2006 World Cup it would make sense that Konami would use an established Premiership player such as Neill to boost the sales of the game in that region of the world.

Anyone else tempted to lower their standards for a month or two for some high def soccer gaming?

No. Rome wasn't built in a day. I hate the wait but I wouldn't pick up Fifa. There are heaps of other good games coming out in the meantime. I'd like to play all of them before I get my hands on pro evo. Cos after that, it's all I'll be playing for a while

Some more info, seems that Newcastle and Tottenham are the 2 licensed clubs this year! Good for me but its a shame if this is true, I want them all licensed.

PES 2008 Screenshots Leaked Then Removed! (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/08/pes-2008-screenshots-leaked-then.html)
Thanks to a tip from DAN GRIBBON a legendary W.E.N.B. regular, some fantastic images of PES 2008 were released today on Scandinavian site Pelaajalehti.com. The images however were removed within the first half an hour of going up. But we managed to nab you some stuff from it. We got a translation of the article:
http://pelaajalehti.com/2007/08/02/pro-evolution-soccer-2008-xbox-360-playstation-3/
"The 360 version is a marked improvement over last year's game. The edit mode is back and while this is still an preview version, the rosters of the 360 build are, by PES standards, incredibly up to date. The presentation is all new and still ugly, but there's tons of music now so you don't have to listen to a single song while messing about in the interface. There's lots of new little touches like when you pause the game you see your bench and the coach all agitated in a small window. English commentary sounds markedly better than before too. The game looks far better in motion and overall than last year's 360 version, which I didn't want to plat at all. The pitches, the grass, look far better as do the players. The PS2 preview code is incredible though... it's got a rock solid super smooth frame-rate, though it looks the same as last year."
So there you have it, sort of a little preview of PES 2008 running on the 360. Unfortunately the source no longer has the article on their website but I have added the link for journalistic purposes! It may have broken an NDA with Konami which forced them to remove the images.
The W.E.N.B. is dedicated to bringing you all the latest on PES/WE but unfortunately these images may have broken some Non-Disclosure Agreement so we will be unable to post these images. But it looks like joy for the Newcastle and Spurs fans, seems they are this year's "luxury" licensed teams! Although we will wait for official word from Konami.

PES 2008: The forbidden screenshots (http://hundredproof.wordpress.com/2007/08/02/pes-2008-the-forbidden-screenshots/)
August 2nd, 2007
http://hundredproof.files.wordpress.com/2007/08/pes_final.jpgBeautiful screenshots of the upcoming next-gen version of Pro Evolution Soccer 2008 were leaked by Scandinavian site Pelaajalehti.com (http://hundredproof.wordpress.com/2007/08/02/pes-2008-the-forbidden-screenshots/Pelaajalehti.com). Due to an agreement with Konami, the site pulled down the screenshots within minutes. But they were up long enough to find their way to WENB (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/). WENB too took them down within minutes. But they had them up long enough for the screenshots to make their way here. Enjoy!
I’m quite happy with what I see. The match visuals are crisp, the player models look good even from afar. The close-up face models look truly stunning, especially Raul. It’s also evident that Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are licensed in this edition of PES, and Manchester United isn’t. The user interface looks very clean, a lot better than past editions.
The only thing that bothers me is the fact that so far, we’ve only seen previews and screenshots of the PS2 and Xbox 360 versions of the game. This makes me anxious because I intend to get the PS3 version. The lack of info on the PS3 versions could mean that its still so far from finished that they aren’t confident about showing us anything, and it would (like most cross-platform next-gen releases) see a delayed release. On the other hand, it could be a good thing; the PS3 version could be superior and Konami don’t want 360 owners to feel like they got a raw deal (Konami have said that they’ve built it from the ground up for the PS3).

OMFG!! I think i just had a major heart attack!! The player detail up close look very impressive. What do WENB know about the custom soundtracks option? It looks as if Seabass and his team are really going for broke with this edition.

I'm sorry but what I fail to understand is that if you have only the right to license 2 premiership teams, why on earth would you make them two teams Newcastle United and Tottenham, what were Konami thinking? Why didn't they license two top four teams? Its not much of a biggie for me because what they have pleased me with is how extensive the Edit mode looks but still I feel sorry for those people who aren't clever enough to get an option file off the internet ;). I'm liking the new design for the menus although its essentially the same as previous iterations, it still looks much better.

well its because EA owns the rights to the premiership...and I'm **** sure they're wary of this franchise's popularity..so EA wouldve tried they're best to stop Konami from taking atleast 2 from the top 4 premier league
and thanks Apollo for those screenshots....they looks freakin awesum....

why am i scared that because the screenshots are from the 360 or ps2 it will mean the ps3 isn't up to the stage where they can release similar quality screenshots and then it might be delayed compared to the other versions... its happening with every other game at the moment...

No Worries there because the PS3 is the lead development platform ;) so if the the PS3 version gets delayed then no doubt the others will as well

Lads, if that pic if finalised... Spurs and Newcastle are licenced.
Congrats to TheDude, but Man Utd? Chelsea? Arsenal? Liverpool? Why they dont have a single Champions League team licenced is beyond me.
Hopefully its a work in progress and United and Chelsea will be added later.

However, the PS3 version which has been confirmed as the lead SKU
Source (http://www.winningelevenblog.com/2007/07/further-pes-2008-details-from-france.html)
The guys over at the Winning Eleven blog have several contacts within Konami so they should know. Also the PS3 being the lead SKU is where all the rumors of the PS3 version being 3 times better stemmed from.

i think that the ps3 version should be delayed tactically so that 360 owners wont see their version as a flaw, then ps3 version comes out 1or 2 weeks later with licensed kits and whola sales improve both in software and hardware

The first gameplay footage of PES 2008 to be shown (at Leipzig Games Convetion), is gonna be showed running on PS3 hardware...that should tell enough about what is the "lead plat". ;)

I think you missed my point...the gameplay video will be unveiled running on a PS3 ;) Its like Haze, shown for the first time on the PS3, doesn't mean it isn't coming out to the 360...got what I mean?

Is it just me or does PES Rooney looks too pretty to be accurate? Fifa's fugly model actually got him spot on :P
I like this game better, but I think it's hard for them to ever beat FIFA cause FIFA it's more like because of the brand.

It really doesn't matter. They sell enough copies of PES to keep them happy. Honestly, as somewhat underdogs seeing how they don't have the licences they are doing extremely well. If it was just some other football game trying to compete with FIFA we wouldn't all be here showing our passion for the game.
PES is the best and EA knows this. I just wish FIFA had enough sense to give the licence to two companies and have them both compete to showcase the best football game for fans of the sport.

Yes, guess that means it'll be downsized to 720p to suit the 360 ppl :/ Well, it doesn't hurt to hope for 1080p :P
As for licensing, as long as the players are correct, should be a breeze to change the name of clubs, no? :)

Popping up out of the blue (everytime I leave my house!) are these new Didier Drogba screenshots courtesy of www.xbox360only.nl (http://www.xbox360only.nl/). Thank Kenny M and Thomas for the heads up. Obviously nothing new revealed in the images but its good to see an African team fully licensed and i'm sure Turkish PES fans will be rejoicing tonight.

When is Leipzig people? Edit - Never-mind, turns out its the 23rd of August
And I think someone asked in this thread if anyone is getting Fifa with it coming out a month earlier.
Well, as much as I have slammed it and as much as I will always hate it, I think I will as I need to play football on my PS3. :-D
Then I can trade it in or sell on ebay as soon as PES 2008 comes out.
Be honest guys, will you get it? :suspect:
