Pissed off by the news that you cannot get in on the warhawk beta from europe, i decided to try and add money to my american PSN-account with my second credit card. And guess what, it worked. So now i am downloading Calling all Cars and wipeout PS1.:mrgreen:
Heres the deal: My regular visa ATM card did not like the fake american adress. But the other one, that is a pure visa creditcard, went through without a hitch.
I am not sure why this is, but something tells me that if your card is from a large bank, they will have security against this. If you have a credit card from one of the more sleasy providers (ie stuff you get in the mail etc.), it will go through.
I used the same adress as i have on my american account.
Any other experiences around this?
I've got a straight visa card from a large bank that works fine. I guess I'm slightly confused with your post. You start out by being pissed you didn't get in the Warhawk Beta then go to adding money to a fake account - I'm assuming your from a different region and have a NA account then?

Hehe, sorry. Yes, i am from europe.. Now i no longer have to go for gamesharing to buy games, and that makes me happy.
On a sidenote, Wipeout was my first PS1 game, i think it has aged very well! Still enjoy it now.

Dude, unless you have a TV that supports the american resolutions, and I think you need NTSC as well, the games will be played in black and white.

All stuff from USA plays fine for me (except Icon)
If you keep the credit amount low, then the Credit Card company does not verify your address. You can credit say $10 several times though and build up a balance.
HDTVs have removed that problem, HDTVs are worldwide standard now and all accept PAL and NTSC, it's now just the resolution to think about.
Are you allowed to buy credit on your fake American account?

Let me see, my progrosis is this :
A normal ATM debit card will more than likely be authorised directly against the issuer of the card. They hold you card billing address and this will be verified against what is entered at the time of the transation. This does not happen so regularly with credit cards. A debit card removes you money from your account instantly so this address verification is more important.
Anyway thanks for the post, I may try this with my own credit card. However be warned, that if your card issuer declines the transaction because they we the billing address is wrong they may choose to block the card believing it is possibly a fraudulent attempt at using your card. You would need to ring them then to get it unblocked.
