There are two things that are guaranteed each year with the release of EA’s Madden Football. One being that the game will make a serious push for the annual video game football crown, while the other is that the cover boy will be cursed. Well, both of these statements hold true once again for Madden NFL Football 2004. The new Owner Mode and Playmaker controls make Madden 2004 one of the deepest football sims to date; while cover boy, Michael Vick, is out for at least 6 weeks as a result of a broken ankle suffered in a preseason game. Note to self: don’t be on the Madden cover. I don’t think I’ll be showing up on Madden box anytime soon, so I should be safe.
While the Xbox version does still suffer from lack of online play (PS2 only) and will have its detractors, there aren’t many football games available better than Madden NFL Football 2004. Read on to find out if Madden is your type of pigskin.

So You Wanna Be an Owner?
The first things that you have to look at with Madden 2004 are the addition of two new fantastic features: the Owner Mode and Playmaker controls. Madden’s Franchise mode has always had a significant lead over Sega’s and when you throw in the micromanagement details of the Owner mode, there isn’t much that the hardcore football fans can’t control. Wanna control beer prices? Madden’s got it. How about parking? Yeah, that’s here too. Basically, just think about all the ways that you are ripped off at the stadium each week, and you have complete control over every detail. If only that money actually went into our coffers. And don’t forget about the fans, as you’ll want to throw a Fan Appreciation Day to keep support for your team at its highest.
