View Full Version : Problems with new Forum Members !!!

k guys ... not all the people come to this section and mostly the older forum members or matured ones get here ...

anyway ... i dunno if you guys noticed this but there are so many new members in the forum from whom i've been seeing lot of attitude !!!

for example i opened a thread about lefein's 12000 posts and all the bashing about the thread i saw is from the new members of the forums ... !!

Even couple of hours ago there were 2 threads ... one made by Loud Ninja & other made by Panda Bear Shenyu and i observed that all the bashing about these threads was from the new members of the forums .. who joined in 2007 ... They may sound appropriate or may not !!

Also look at this conversation -

Panda Bear Shenyu: "Well, you see, there is that problem with the... .60% failure rate thing..."
The_Light: "Did you know that when you use statistics, they should actually be factual?"
Panda Bear Shenyu: "lol, sure, whatever."that conversation is the signature of a guy with the username The_Light who is 24 years old and joined the forums on May the 25th, 2007.

What do you guys think about this ?? Are the other forum members getting let down with these new ones ?? Though i hav'nt been in the this forum from so long but i do respect the elder members of the forum ir-respective of their age ...

I just got this thought .. and i wanted to share with you ... did any of you guys have gone through any sort of bad experiences from any of the new forum members ??

I agree with you, and I did see The_Light signature. Well, who am I to try to change anything...

All forum members are equal in my opinion. It doesn't matter if you have 20 stars next to your nickname and spam. It's the same as if a just joined member would spam.
Though, I think older members should be respected more, but every member's gotta have the same rights.

And The_Light's a no good spammer. Remember: there are always spammers. Now when more and more people are joining the PS3forums, you gotta expect some of the new members to be spammers.

Of Course man ... i know that everyone is equal ... and of course elder members of the forums need to get their respect ... and i also do agree that the user we are talking about is not a spammer either .. its just that probably when there are so many new people joining the forums this the trend i have observed lately ...

Its just a fact that when i joined in October last year ... i hav'nt seen anything as bad as this but the im-patience from the new members or the im-maturity is definitely visible at the moment ...

What exactly was wrong with what the_light said?

the large influx of people in the past 2 months is most likely due to the European and Australasian release of PS3. With that comes about 20 different cultures in addition to the few that were here before. With mixed cultures comes misunderstandings and language barriers, even UK to USA.

Example, in the UK, we say "I couldn't care less". In USA you say "I could care less". We both mean the same thing, but this is a shining example of how basic use of the language leads to misunderstandings.

If I say I want to "table this idea" then I mean I want to bring it to the table for discussion. In USA |I believe that means you want to put it aside for the time being and talk about something else.

All those people are clamoring for information and a lot are frustrated with what they have (no right to be frustrated IMO, should have kept their cash until fall). My guess is that as time goes by, a lot of the new guys will drift away.

This is a great forum with intelligent and useful information. The fanboys and spammers will get bored here and move on as long as they don't get the conflict that they seek. My suggestion would be for those that treat the forum with a little more respect than others to avoid conflicts and avoid responding to the threads where people are just trying to create controversy.

I had a conversation on here the other day where I was told that my previous comment was going to be added to another poster's signature...simply so that they could ridicule me. If you see these things then just report them to the mods and let them do their (excellent) job.

we have all been new members and i'm sure it took us all time to settle in and learn how the forum works. new members will always come in with big opinions and no fear and most will settle down after that initial period

Well I just hope that you're not generalizing everybody that has a join date of 2007 into that category. Not all of us are as you've described. I know I haven't really contributed very much worth into the discussions. but I would hope when I do post something it's taken seriously and not just shrugged off as (well he's only joined recently so his opinion doesn’t count)
I know that's not the prevailing attitude in this thread, but I just wanted to ask that you please not judge the silent majority by the actions of the vocal minority.

I was not saying about everyone who joined in 2007. I was saying most of them joined in 2007 ... not everyone is included in it ... there are only a few people like that and most of those few joined in 07 ...

anyway ... as someone said i guess it takes some time to get settled.

Wow, you don't know Panda Bear Shenyu like the PS3forums veterans (including me) do.

Panda Bear Shenyu always has the care-free attitude, so he will make remarks like that.

It's not like he's being rude, or anything.

You don't know if you could or couldn't?

If you could care less then you apparently care more than you could.
If you couldn't care less then you already care the least you are able.

If you don't care whether you could or couldn't then you probably shouldn't (or should)

though it looks like it makes total sense, i dont think that made any sense.
Even though you think that it makes total sense, none of the forum members will think that it makes any sense as your post totally didn'nt make any sense to the whole thread.

So rather than posting something that does'nt make any sense to the thread you should stop making the senseless posts or may be you should start posting something related to the thread that will make more sense, and not being sarcastic to other posts !!!

Coming back to the thread, as Profilix was saying i dont think Panda was being rude but the other user might be ... lol

Yeah, this is basically like stating the obvious.

Thank god MiNiMaL_sAnItY gave me the title of "Captain Obvious".

For example, we all know deviantART (the dA) has gone down since immature 12-year olds post their crappy fanart.

This is like saying that new members have it "really harsh" due to their "status".

Not really. I've seen your posts and they are ok.

The_Light on the other hand is a stealth troll and should be dealt with. Just like the Vision of something who turned out to be St.Jude they have very obvious posts.

So you do not need to worry unless you are a troll.

So you do not need to worry unless you are a troll.I'll look into these matters for you guys, but I hope you guys think about it first before you jump the gun and report right away. It needs to be valid and not really a vendetta like what I have been seeing. :? A simple disagreement can be mended with maturity among other things unless its that serious of a problem then report it.

He's just keeping it real, sometimes a bit too real for most people but meh to each his own I guess. >_>

I wouldn't say that, I was a bit of a problem back then (kind of still am btw lol) as "Spam King" but I changed that title to Stealth MOD to be more appropriate to the new position and what not. I'm surprised I wasn't banned back then, if I saw me doing what I did back then I would have eliminated myself.

But coming back to your point, many members in any forum in general will fumble the first time but through time, effort, and experience with how things are normally run in any forum that member can become more knowledgeable. Though there are people who become worst like me.:DD

@OP - I really don't like it when members make threads about another member doing such and such activities. Putting them on blast, so to speak can be looked upon as a personal vendetta by some. So if you have issues with a member do it via PM or outside the forums. I just don't like anyone being alienated by this sort of thing if you catch my drift.;)

And no, all forum members aren't equal, which is why I didn't take up issue with the_light about using jargon in his signature, because he is clearly a species of lesser intelligence.

I got a little perplexed when he kept following me around and trolling my thread. Then when he got my Loudninja thread locked, he sent me a message asking me if I was up for a third go... O_o, this person might be more obsessed with me than my significant other.

they'll always be stealth trolls , spammers , and just plain idiots that are attracted to this site...its because we're a big site and those kinda ppl will be banned in due time and good new members will rise above the noob status and will find life on the ps3forums quite pleasant for the most part.

every message board has them. i'm new here but have been in message boards since 2000. i've been a moderator in about 5 message boards and have accounts in more than 30 sites. there seems to be a message board site for about anything out there now-a-days. :) i try to be as respectful as i can be and most of the time i am but there are some threads/posts that just make me wonder what the hell they were thinking.

I think you right,i just joined the forum like a month ago and i have never purposely tried to be a jackass or rude to any of the other members new or old in regard to anything they have posted, i don't think its fair to blame mostly the new comers for the spamming thats taking place, spamming can be done by anyone i can also understand that since elder members have been here longer and know a lot more people its less likely that they would spam but I'm pretty sure that not all elder members think that. maybe us new comers should just wait until we reach 6 months or a year before we post maybe their wouldn't be a need for post shreds like this what do you think

Well that was kind of the point of the thread.;) But as I said a lot of new comers are cool and it is obviously new people who spam and what not since there is no point in building up a reputation and being here for a while and then start spamming all of the sudden.

06-07-2007, 18:23
Wow, I'm surprised I haven't been banned for the stuff I've done in the past.

I'm just surprised that newcomers actually have the guts to spam somewhere, for no reason at all. Most people, who spam the boards have an obvious stereotype in their minds. Some think that forums users spend all of their time on message boards, and on the internet. But, that is not true. Some users, like Svetlana for example, barely spends any time on the forums, yet she does a lot for the message boards (taking up signature/avatar requests, moderating the forums, keeping the spammers at bay).

Newcomers may come and go but the inconsistent amount of trolling will never cease to exist.
