they probably should be 14-0. 9 out of 10 times they would beat the Pistons. props to Detroit though, they played at the top of their game for the full 48 minutes and you dont see that often from any teams anymore. at one point in that game, i did not think the Pistons would miss a shot lol, you know its going good when Rasheed is banking 3s off the glass.

No, we actually have the best record against the Lakers over the years, ever since our championship year. It's like 8 and 3 in our favor.

Awesome! Devin Harris goes for 47. I always knew he was a mix of Oscar Robertson, Magic Johnson, and a leprechaun. Hadn't the Ragin Cajun shipped him outta town, the Mavs would be looking good right about now.

this years Laker team is a whole nother beast.

Yeah, in those years, the Lakers had, Smush, Kobe, Walton, Mihm, Kwame as there starters.... and Kwame came back and killed them. It should not happened this year. Detroit just was on a role and didn't let up. Just like Minny was when they trashed the Pistons.
Glad to see L.A taking out Toronto but JO wasn't there so it wasn't a real test. Bynum shut down Bosh and made him think twice about his shots. That ally-oop dunk by Bynum had me going. That was the Old Bynum returning. Hope to see more of that. Also he needs to work on his spin moves, and do a little bit more of that, and he'll get easy dunks.
Freakin Ariza!!!! Every game I see him playing I am just in awe of his skill, talent, and go for it all attitude. Loving this guy, and the Lakers better anti-up in the off-season.
-Philly... Nothing to say except that I'm just dissapointed. I really thought they would be the team to take down the Celtics, but the way they have been playing... very sad.

I'm a Lakers fan and I think the team is doing very good; however the thing that I will like to see more is toughness. In that game against Pistons they were happy just shooting jumpers and fricking Phil Jackson stopped feeding Bynum on the paint, Gasol got push around by Kwami Brown lol. Stuckey pushed our point guards around too. We just got pushed around and dominated and that can't happen if you want to win all. Not saying they have to win every game but at least don't allow teams to push your arse around because that is how exactly they got beat in the finals by Boston.
During the off season they did bad moves imo, they let Turiaf go; they kept Sasha, I think I would've let Sasha walk and keep Turiaf and get Devin Brown and Quinton Ross. 2 guards that can play defence and can play some offence too for far less money and either one could guard the biggest point guards in the league (exept big O James) Lol, but who could?...
Anyways, I was thinking and hoping that Mitch K contact some good veteran that can teach some toughness for the young Lakers. I was thinking Alonzo Mourning could help teaching and influense the guys to play some better D for the Lakers.
What do you think?...

Agreed they got pushed around, and you just said what my bro. told me. Jumper after Jumper, quick shot, after quick shot. This is what hurts the Lakers the most. When they stop running the offense they lose.
Turiof wanted too much, and a longer deal. Golden State paid up, just like they did when they got Fisher. However seeing what the Lakers gave Fluke Walton (Damn, I hate him), they should have paid Turiof. However, they got Josh Powell, who is like Tury but has a better jumper. Don't agree on Ross, and Brown. Not really defensive players, too me Sasha is a better Defensive player than those two, and he has a much better jumper. Also, Sasha came cheap and only for 3 years, so it's a win win.
I agree on Alonzo, but he didn't want to come here. If he does, than it would be a great addition to an already deep bench. But its his choice. Not sure, but did he sign with the Heat again?

I don't know if Mourning was signed by the Heat I think he is getting healthy from the last injury he suffered and waiting to see for the Heat to call him.
To me Shasha is overrated especially on D; to me he is more like a guy that just keeps running and and tries to annoy people... He could get some steals and yes he puts pressure on people but many of this Vujacic's D talk came from the San Antonio Spurs series where he was defending an injured Manu Ginnobily... I agree he plays some D but he is not by any means as good defender as they make him out to be.
Something that I don't like much about Sasha either is that he just shoots and shoots even when he's missing. He is pretty much a one dimensional player on offence a grab the ball and shoot kind of player. I would like to see more rebounds and blocks from Sasha but I know is not going to happen.
I have seen Devin Brown play multiple positions and he is a good defender too, better than Sasha in D imo and tougher than Sasha too; he is a guy that likes to bang around and Ross is a skinny guy that can bother players especially big point guard (the Lakers point guards aren't that long you know?).
The idea of a bench that has a very good offense but also has a tough defense is what I'm trying to picture. With Devin Brown capable of playing a SG/SF combo role(+ Ariza :)) and Ross playind a PG defensive assigment and also playing SG role I think the Lakers will be even better. PJ will have to make some adjustments but that won't be a problem.

As a Mav fan, I'm used to things like this now. Being a Mav fan is the never ending cycle of Charlie Brown trying to kick a football.
Tracy McGrady out for another three weeks. They should just shut him down until the playoffs, or if Yao goes down. T-Mac is like the Griffey of the NBA.
@Marbary/Knicks: Don't know what Starbary should be complaining about. $23 mill, court side seats, I would love every minute of it. Anyways if they buy him out, Starbary will probably end up in Boston as the back up, just like what Payton did.
Edit:
[bleeping] Lakers. What another [bleeping] loss. To another weak East team. I thought they would possibly lose to Philly, now they lose to the Pacers. Out rebounded, Granger balled them up. What a joke. They'll probably lose to Philly with the crap like play. ONLY one giving anything right now day in and day out is Ariza.
Lakers just lost to the Pacers. So many turn overs and missed free throws. :|
that was pretty lucky at the end, looked like the ball bounced off of every edge of the rim before going in at the buzzer lol.
Lakers played like crap in the 4th quarter, props to Pacers coming back though. the Pacers are a lot better then people think they are. they have allready beat 3 of arguably the best teams in the league allready.
Pistons got a much needed win over the Spurs. We've got a pretty easy schedule the next nine or ten games or so, so maybe we can do something we haven't done since the Iverson trade, string together a good winning streak.
For the first time in years we're looking up at a team in the Central. Cleveland has come out with all guns ablazin' and it's like we're so inconsistent as a team. Hopefully we can get things rolling now that our schedule is favorable and just go from there.

I was watching the game on tv last night as they were getting rolled by the Clippers. They played lackadasical all night. Zach Randolph was killing them inside out just eating Dampiere lunch. The last four minutes of the game is where the Mavs took contol and mounted its come back. This would have been a disastous lost to start with for a seven game homestand.

This one was a whole team loss, Ariza like you said was the best defender for the Lakers but it takes everyone to be on the same page defensibly. Many times even Kobe lost sight of Marquis Daniels and he had some easy baskets down the stretch + they give up way too many rebs, missed free throws, and had turn overs at key moments  . The Lakers have the bad habit of allowing teams to comeback on them. They need to keep the D up for the whole games and learn to be a lock down team, that is what championship teams do.

when i saw that score against denver on ESPNEWS i was like OUCHHH, i guess its the right move I really wonder who they are going to pick up at least they fired him now when its still pretty early in the season so they can get used to a new coaches system.
Wasn't Sam Mitchell coach of the year a while back? Like 2007? Maybe the problem wasn't him but the fact that the Raptors don't have anybody legitimate standing beside Chris Bosh (Jermaine O' Neal doesn't count).

I knew the Wizards would be going for the three, probably everyone did. Lakers got Lucky, and the way they blew another lead, they should have lost. If things are not going right, Fisher and Farmer need to be benched. Starting line-up should be Kobe, Ariza, Odom, Gasol, and Bynum. You need to have your top players in the game when crap like this happens. Especially when the Point Guards on the other team are destroying Fisher and Farmer. Thought it would be different this year, but these blown leads are making me sick.
@Dallas: Looks like Big D got their Future PG? He was killing the Lakers in the first half, but was shut down in the second. J.J got the shot, and the skills to be a very nice pg. And Dirk is just sick. The way he shoots is just pure and crazy.
@Spurs: Guess I was wrong to count them out and predict they would finish 7th or 8th in the playoffs. A healthy Ginobili will help this team get a higher seed.

Pacers almost beat Celtics again but Pierce with that damn 3 to go ot. Pacers choked it.
Going to have to change my predictions on the playoffs due to a couple of trades, namely the Billups.
McHale back at coaching again. He hasn't done much after Garnett. If they don't finish above .500 he should be fired as well.
And Dunleavy of the Clippers should have been fired a long time ago. The guy can't coach anymore, and he's shown it. Let Davis run the offense and see what happens.

Amazing? So far from the last few games its been far from that. Thought it would be different this year with Bynum and an experienced bench. Nope, Congratulations Lakers, for being nothing more than the same **** as team from the few years past.
Could not watch after the third quarter. I don't care where they play or who they play. When Kobe doesn't realize that his jumper is not falling, guess what IDIOT! Take it to the F'n HOLE!! Don't care if refs. don't call a foul, the best players realize whats wrong and try to fix, and Kobe still doesn't seem to get it. Don't tell me he's scared of Brad Miller, or Troy Murphy (Indy)? Gasol is dominating, yet they go away from him. Bynum..4 F'n rebounds, are you serious?
Ariza had a poor performance, but I can let it go since he still plays hard, and he's allowed to with all the great performances he's put up so far.
I can just imagine when Boston comes in to Staples. Garnett is going to open his sorry *** mouth again, and rip Bynum, Gasol all game long. Lakers come out like this, Boston is going to destroy them.
Also, watch when the Lakers play in Portland. Portland owns their asses at the Rose Garden.
Speaking of Portland. They got screwed. Aldrige shot went in and should have counted. However still have to give credit to Turk, for making that 3. Nothing you can really do with that kind of shot.
@Detroit: I bet Denver is smiling right now. Billups is the point guard that this team has been missing. Even though I don't see Denver going to far, he's still going to help Denver and mostly Carmelo. Like I said before, A.I could be a difference maker, but he needs 30 shots to make it so. I haven't seen Detroit play with A.I, so I shouldn't really comment on it.
@Dallas/Spurs: Wow J. Kidd goes 10-15 FG and they lose? Why isn't Green playing? LOL at D. George starting or did he start?
Cleveland's on a roll with no one really getting in LBJ's way. Dwayne Wade is just dunking on everyone. Looks to be a great season to watch NBA.

Did the Suns seriously just trade Diaw and Bell for Jason Richardson? He'll add some highlight dunks and that's about it. So much for them wanting to play defense this year. Wow that's a poor trade. They're what, 7 players deep now? This might make the Suns the western team that misses the playoffs.

Oh damn, your right. Just checked after reading your post. What in the world has Steve Kerr done to this team? He's made them slow in acquiring Shaq, traded away their best defensive player in Marion, and now getting rid of the only other defensive player in Bell.
Full Trade:
Suns Get:
Jason Richardson
Jared Dudley
2010 Second Round Pick
Bobcats Get:
Boris Diaw
Raja Bell

They also picked up another huge contract. They are a run and gun team, but with Shaq, no matter who they get... they can't be that team. J-Rich will throw up plenty of shots, but is he willing to be the #3 or #4 option?
Really don't see what's the point of this trade? Imagine this. If they kept Marion and played out the season... Marion would have been a Free Agent, and look who else would have been... LBJ! You wouldn't think LeBron would take a close look at Phoenix with Nash and Amare?
Oh well, to me Kerr really screwed this franchise up. Nash is going down hill, Shaq gone after next season same for Nash? And what do you leave Amare with, when he'll have just one more year left? Amare is going to have a huge decision to make when that time comes.

Actually, this is true. The Lakers have to step it up offensively if they want to beat Cleveland or Boston. I hope they're ready by Christmas...they play Boston for the first time this season.
That win was nothing to brag about. Only suited up 8 players, no Shaq, and Nash shot horribly.
Exactly. I was disgusted at their play again. I had a feeling they would win by 5 or lose by 2, but I tried to give them the benefit of the doubt and say 20. Right now they are a complete joke and every team knows it, especially the Eastern teams. For the fans to give them an ovation is complete stupidity. If those rich idiots actually paid attention to the game, then they would have known how awful the team looked and played.
First Problem: Phil Jackson. I'm getting really annoyed at him, when he takes guys out who are on fire, and they don't time for an entire quarter. Sasha finally starts to hit his shots, and what the Phillip do...sits him down.
His rotations yesterday were a complete joke. A couple of times he had no shooters on the floor, which led to the Suns just double teaming Gasol, Bynum, or Kobe. Farmer, Kobe, Ariza, Odom, Bynum...wtf is that? Kobe can't hit a jumper along with the rest of the crew. Walton? Are you that F'n desperate? I don't care what #'s he put up, look at what the Suns did when he had the ball. Back away from his sorry arse and let the loser shoot.
Second Problem: Kobe and Fisher
-These two have been getting beat badly lately by the other teams back court. Kobe shot has been awful, yet he doesn't drive. What the F'' is is Afraid of? Fisher's shot has been awful, and those quick jumpers he takes needs to go. But I have hope for Fisher getting his shot back. Kobe on the other hand, have no clue what you'll see game in and game out.
Third Problem: Gasol needs to touch the ball.
-Every possession needs to go through Gasol, unless its a fast break. The way he's playing, he is putting up MVP numbers lately. He's basically carrying this team.
Fourth Problem: Bench?
-They need to get going and get going now. Turnovers, stupid shots, and just plain stupidity. Just don't understand what they are doing now, after a great start.
One thing I won't stand for is Garnett coming into Staples and talking **** all game long. All I got to say is, L.A better shut his pie hole.

I hope the Lakers come out and just play and compete hard. Destroy Sacramento tonight no more BS guys, play like us the fans want to see you play. Kobe (God I wish you read my message) please if your shot is not going in just at least attempt to penetrate and either score or set plays for the other guys don't frikking constipate the game's flow like you have been doing lately. Where is that Kobe of last year's playoffs?...:-?
Just set some goals on defense on every game; contest every single shot, no more easy layups :pissed: ( that really makes me mad) you can't let anyone just walk and layup the ball like they are warming up for the game; even me will score on your arse Lol. Stop the dribble penetration if you guys at least be on time in your rotations that will help a lot.
You need to set your minds and become killers when you get those big leads no mercy, pedal to the medal :gta: .There's no excuse allowing teams to comeback after being up by12+ points like Washington, Indiana, Sixers, Suns?... :no. Just have some pride and heart.
I just wrote a little rant but it just makes me so mad that they have been playing so pathetically lately and with all that talent. I swear at times the team look like a bunch of Radmanovics out there; lost and like they have never play ball together. Lol
With that being said Let's Go Lakers show you got HEART and PRIDE.
 @ people getting too emotional over the Pistons current slomp.
I don't know, Blu Ray. I don't think we have it this year. It was bound to happen sometime. We couldn't stay at the forefront of the Eastern Conference forever. I thought it would happen last year in the first round of the playoffs after Philly was up on us 2-1.
I hope I'm wrong, but it's like changing point guards (and maybe even Michael Curry's inexperience) was enough to knock us off our pedestal in the East. It might not be Curry though, because we were undefeated until we traded Billups, but for sure Joe D. had to try something.
I thought for sure with this sorry schedule the next seven or eight games we could do something we haven't done all season long, and that's go on an extended winning streak. I guess there's still games to be played though. But I don't think we'll win the Central this year. Cleveland is playing lights out. I'm pretty much looking forward to see them play Boston. Hopefully it comes on television.

And Blu-Ray, let me just say this: I admire your optimism.
The Lakers just survived against the Knicks lol, lakers D definately has to step up. I have a feeling the christmas day match up, boston is gonna beat down the lakers.
The way Lakers are playing....They deserve to be beat down by every team in the league. Theus was right about the Lakers D'. Ariza and Kobe are the only ones looking to play defense. As for Kobe he is taking too many damn risk. Whatever this steals bet they have need to be shut down ASAP. When Kobe takes risks, he leaves the Lakers D' open for picking.
Also, Lakers fans at Staples are complete idiots. There is only one player that deserves an MVP chant.... GASOL!!
Bynum needs to shut the F' up and play like a man. Get boards, blocks and the points will come.
Other notes:
LeBron is a Freakin BEAST! He is on a mission this season. The way he's playing it looks like a tank going through the lane.
Can't believe ATL lost light night. Josh Smith did make a difference, but Boston came out and took the game at the end.

Wow, that Hawks/Celtics game the other night was great. I haven't been that into a game yet this season. In the 4th when they were trading baskets I was going crazy. I wanted to see Boston lose so bad.
OK, now I'll go watch the games from last night on TNT. Barkley cracks me up. Double Ds!
Spurs @ Magic - LETS GO MAGIC, we played very well against the spurs, nelson looked awesome again last night, hes been playing very well this season. Im glad our bench is helping us out, Lee and Gortat are doing good for us, especially gortat since dwight has been out, he has great energy and is aggressive. As for Lee, I think he was a good draft pick for us (finally) hes very quick, good defender and hes got a good jumpshot. I cant wait till petrius comes so we can be at full strength.
Suns @ Portland- Roy truly beasted it up last night, I honestly thought the suns were gonna win. When roy was heating up I knew the suns were in trouble lol, congrats roy on your 52 pt game GJ.
Whatever you guys do make sure you check out Sportscenter tonight and look at highlights of this Detroit Piston/Utah Jazz war. We haven't beaten the Jazz in 6 straight games, and they have won eight out of nine, but right now we're heading into double overtime. Can you say game of the night?

Mavs got raped by the Nets though, so no room to talk :(
Wow, we just CANNOT beat Utah:( I'm still proud of our guys though, we played some hard ball tonight. But still, winning a game like that could've sparked some kind of momentum.
EDIT: I'm not one to blame the referees, but I don't see how I forgot to mention that basically our entire starting lineup was fouled out, and we still almost pulled out a win. They could have let us play.

The Lakers haven't looked good at all lately. The Celtics are gonna put a lot of frowns on Laker fans faces on Christmas.
Went to the Warriors-Magic game, what a beatdown. They kinda came back it was 58-54 start of the 3rd, but then we just started raining 3's on them lol.
Golden State Truly sucks, they were missing wide open lay ups, easy putbacks, no wonder there 8-21.
^^ I think Jameer Nelson just spat in my face. Maybe he read my post of him being not the PG the Magics need. From then he's gone on a streak of putting of points and helping the Magics win.
I've basically lost hope for the Lakers. They don't seem to get it. Kobe going back to his ball hogging ways against the Magics, yeah he carried the team, but the Lakers don't need that anymore. And the last shot? Was there .7 or 3.7 seconds left on the clock? Complete joke. Also, either Phil Jackson is a complete idiot, or he's completely lost it. Vlad needs to start at SF. Having Luke start is telling the other team, hey look, I'm starting a guy who can't shoot, can't defend, and is afraid of the rim.
Boston vs. Lakers: Boston by 30, or they better expect a miracle.
Well I think its been enough of time to judge the Pistons, Blue. They don't look good, and they look like there needs to be another change. Instead of getting A.I, they should have tried to follow up on the rumors of getting Carmelo. Billups has been a great fit for Carmelo, and what the Nuggets finally needed. A true PG, and a true leader. But strange things have happened, so you could be right.
At this point in the season I'd say the NBA champion would be either Boston or Cleveland. I can't see the Lakers beating either of those teams. And it's a shame how we (the Pistons) have just become irrelevant in the East in such a short time. We're freakin' 10 and 10 with Iverson in the lineup, we're playing five hundred ball for cryin' out loud!

Have to agree with you. Pistons don't look good, and I don't see L.A bringing home anything with their play. People may say its early but look what happened last year when Boston came to L.A and beat down the Lakers. Boston is serious while the Lakers made it look like a joke with their tight shorts and ****. If Lakers can't win, I want to see Cleveland win it. Can't stand Boston, and all their trash talking.

Jason Terry played lights out an allstar and should be sixth man of the year. This team is playing together like they were 3 years ago. The Mavs are a team that catches everyone off gaurd. They're in the best position flying under the radar while the Lakers, Spurs face the pressure of being the top team in the west the mavs can relax and just play ball.

Great comeback. This team drives me crazy. One week we'll be soaring with the eagles, and the next we'll be hanging with the turkeys. Josh actually scored in the 4th which was quite surprising. Hopefully this game will wake them up and let em know you can't take a night off.

Getting past the .500 mark is hard. Once a team gets over it, then you know the rest of the season should be good.
Nice comeback by the Mavs. Even though it was the T-Wolves, a comeback is a comeback.

The Pistons just won a nail biter against the Clippers, extending our winning streak to seven games. The hottest team in the league right now. And we're doing it all with TWO of our top guys injured (Rasheed and Hamilton). And we even had McDyess injured for a stretch during the streak. Guys are coming off the bench and stepping up in key roles.
The next two games are going to be key though, as we have to play both Portland and Utah (two teams that beat us earlier in the season). Utah we haven't beat since like 2003. Hopefully we can get Rasheed and Hamilton back by then though, as otherwise we probably won't have much of a chance to extend this steak (particularly against Utah).
In any case, it looks like we may have turned the corner on a pretty disappointing season.
And hey, Boston lost to the Knicks:snicker
its just amazing that the Celtics have lost 4 games since Christmas. they seem to be in a slump since the loss to the Lakers.

How about Rodney Stuckey? I knew he would be good this season, but he's still managed to surprise me. 40 points, 38 points.. and he's starting to get a little more consistent. He will make the All Star team next year. I would bet money on it. Any takers?

And the last two games we've played against the Jazz, it's like, we've had big leads on them but then they've come back to win. It's high time we got a victory over the Jazz. I just hope that Rasheed and Hamilton will be healthy enough to play.

Despite the Portland Trail Blazers (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/por/;_ylt=Arp3IU30wjmhR52XVLclfMPTjdIF)’ efforts to dissuade teams from signing Darius Miles (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3402/;_ylt=AnRzWuMlppWjMlq2c1xsaBfTjdIF), the NBA sent out a memo on Friday morning that makes clear it won’t stand in the way of the free-agent forward’s return to the league.
The league notified teams on Friday that Miles had cleared waivers and is eligible to be signed to a standard contract. “Any such contract,” the league wrote in the email, “would be approved by the NBA.”
“What they’re saying is: ‘Don’t let that scare you off,’ ” said one Eastern Conference GM who had received the memo.
An NBA spokesman wasn’t immediately available to respond for comment or clarification regarding the memo.
The Memphis Grizzlies (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/mem/;_ylt=Ap.VrOxT6lmni.61G8uD1RTTjdIF) waived Miles on Tuesday after he played in two games for them. If Miles plays in two more games, the remaining $18 million of his contract will go back on the Trail Blazers’ salary cap.
Blazers president Larry Miller sent out an email to every NBA team threatening possible legal action should Miles be signed for the “purpose of adversely impacting the Portland Trail Blazers’ salary cap and tax positions.”
http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-nbamiles010809&prov=yhoo&type=lgns
The should get ready to start paying this contract for a guy that don't play for them..LOL.
This guy came to the league straight out of high schoo, with alot of upside. He hasn't been the player that everyone thought he would be no outside jump shot whatsoever his sskills only fit with a run and gun team eeerr N.Y. Knicks.

Magic @ Spurs - WOW we FINALLY won at San antonio, its been a LONG time,
I must say im very pleased with nelsons high level of play, ive been waiting for this moment for when he would play very well and consistently.
JJ redick chipped with his 4 threes which is very reassuring because now it seems like hes getting confidence when hes on the floor, Stan Van Gundy therefore gives him more playing time.
These next few games are a real test for us and we got one down, now we have to get ready for boston and lakers which will truly measure us as
contenders.

Tonights game was crazy, but it was BS. Refs were making alot of bad calls...and that last call on fisher which gave the win to spurs. Watch the replay and fisher barely touches him...the other dude falls on the floor and gets the free throws..-_-...and there was no calls on spurs for bumping ariza at the last minutes but gives him a travel.

I agree with you. There was a lot of BS calls that Ginobili 3 free throws; first he extended his arm and pushed Ariza out of the way and then he gets the call?... from there on I knew the refs where going to ruin it for the Lakers
but to me what hurt the most is that we didn't use the last foul to give and WTF happened to Fisher on that Mason shot?... looked as if he got spun around; right then he had to grab him before him getting that ball but he was totally late .
This one hurts big time.
was an awesome game and thats what the Lakers get for not playing very well once again. it is not going to get any easier with Orlando and Cleveland up next. they really do need their injured players back.
that being said im not sure about he foul on Fisher and the no call on Ariza at the end. but that being said.... why in the world did the leagues best finisher pass the ball to Ariza with the game on the line? Ariza is a great player, but when you are Kobe freaking Bryant and the game is on the line with only a couple of seconds left....you take the damn shot, its not like the dude cant make a shot with defenders draped all over him.

What an awesome game! Howard dominated bynum, 25pts 20 rebs to bynums 3 rebounds/14 pts, that was a real key to the game, and also derek fisher got tore up by nelson, fisher isnt fast enough to keep up with him, nelson had 28pts/8ast and fisher only had 9pts 4ast
Nelson won the game for us again with his clutch shooting, with his awesome play of recently hes gotta be an allstar, i hope he doesnt get snubbed.
I honestly thought the lakers were gonna take out there anger on us but we hung in there and banged out an amazing victory that will definately boost our confidence. Next we got Denver then we got Boston at home(which is on my birthday:)), I cant wait!

What do you think about the Diop for Hollins/Carroll? I think it was a rare smart move by the Mavs. Hollins is a poor man's Tyson Chandler and Carroll is a good shooter. Anything's better than that dead weight Desagna Diop.
Marion is just a big a cancer as Howard is, but he'd fit much better with Kidd, I agree. I'm sick and tired of Howard. He's a ballstopping, chemistry killing idiot.

Brandon Bass ate into Diops minutes he was just more atheletic, active than and better shooter than Diop.
Hollins is the type of center the mavs need behind Dmapier also he's needee to match up with the more atheletic centers.

Yeah, the Pistons DO stink. I keep hoping against hope that they'll turn the corner for real and salvage this season, and actually become a contender in the East again; repeating trite phrases like it doesn't matter how you start but how you finish. But there's no getting around it, we suck. It's a shame. In less than just one season we went from a legitmate title contender to an also-ran, but I guess it had to happen sometime. We couldn't forever remain at the forefront of the Eastern Conference.

damit *shakes fists* my injured cavs lost to Orlando .. its okay will get em when the team is healthy...
Sorry to Magics fans, but I still don't see Orlando as a championship competitor. I don't get teams. Why would you double team Dwight Howard when he has 4 options on the floor that can kill you with threes? D-How is a monster, but he is not a offensive threat. If he does go off, than let it be. Its simple, play man to man.
Lakers losing to the Bobcats. Whats new? Usually when a player goes down like that you would think that he just lost some air. Man when I heard Wallace had a collapsed lung, then Bynum should have been suspended for a game atleast or fined. He never made a play for the ball so I would have accepted that. Hope he can recover because this is some serious injury.
Only three teams I see now. Lakers, Cleveland, Boston.
Oh another thing. These B-Ball players are complete IDIOTS! How do you leave someone open at the three point line when you KNOW that the only way the other team can tie is with a three? Basketball IQ, what a joke phrase.
Oh, Luke Walton: I HATE THEE!!! Just had to get it out again.

Same F'n team, and it was a Lakers player again. MRI results will be in tomorrow. So far it looks to be only a sprain, so hopefully it is. Bynum finally coming around to playing D' and dominating on offense and to have this happen again sucks.
I still hate Walton, and Phil looks like a moron everytime he coaches now.

Bynum has a torn MCL. Could be out for 8-12 weeks. Its different than last year as he can actually walk. So hopefully some rest and training will get him back with at least 1 week remaining in the schedule.
This now plays a huge role, as the Spurs and Phoenix now could be top contenders in the West.
If I was Mitch I'll be talking to Zo right now. He won't start, he won't be averaging the same numbers as Bynum but he could bring that thought mentality that the Lakers are going to need for the playoffs.

I was at the game working and saw Jameer go out, it looked much worse live than it did on tv. Hoping he heals quick as hes never had any issues with that shoulder before. And the Mavs were one of the few teams to cover Dwight with 1 man which is how they shut down our shooting. Almost every other team doubles Dwight leaving a shooter open. Even though we were cold all night anyways, regardless of Supermans 30+ points.

Exactly why I believe Orlando isn't a real threat. Its basic basketball and does not require thinking. Play Man to Man, and don't let shooters open.
On Jameer Nelson.
Nelson will decide over the next week whether he will have surgery or attempt rehabilitation. If surgery is the option, his season is likely over. If he passes on the surgery, he’ll likely miss several weeks.

People not thinking were a threat is exactly why we win games which is fine by us. We dont typically get that cold, and we typically shoot and make more threes than any team in the league and Dwight speaks for himself in teh paint.
As for Jameer, we just had the press conference here and they let the news out.

Do we know yet who is going to take the place of Nelson in the All Star game? I'm guessing Ray Allen or Mo Williams.
@ Orlando: Howard is not an offensive force. He really has no offensive game. If he puts up 30 on a team than teams can live with that. If you double and leave the 3 point shooters open, than its basically over. In a 7 games series I'm sure Boston or Cleveland would figure it out. Even if they don't Boston has a stronger Front Court and 3 point shooters. Both Boston and Cleveland are well balanced. My reason as to why I don't see Orlando a threat. But who knows?
While Orlando only has Howard as the interior and everyone else as shooters. Not really a balance. I still want to see Orlando get help for Howard on the inside. Maybe a mid range shooting PF with low post game. I
As for Great MGS Game:
MJ>LBJ>KB24
MJ put up # against a better defensive Knicks team. LeBron put up a Triple Double, and Kobe had the record, but it doesn't compete with those two.

Things are getting really chippy in this Lakers/Celtics game. It's like this is the kind of game I imagined their Finals matchup would be. I have always noticed that the Celtics do a lot of "little" things that they get away with and they also like to be physical and what made me laugh about Doc Rivers is that he was saying that the last play was a foul but if you check the play before that last one you will see Kendrick Perkins completely pushing Gasol out of the picture(huge elbow push) and that's how Rondo got the rebound.
They play very physical they push, grab and hit people always specially Perkins and Leon Powe. Leon Powe about every time he gets under the basket he throws those elbows and gets away with it many times.
Garnett and almost the whole team use illegal screens almost all the time too and the refs nearly always get Pierce the calls when he does his flop act.
Doc Rivers is the biggest crying baby of the couches in the league it don't take much for him to be either complaining for every little thing or kissing the refs ***.
End of rant. :p
The no call in that last play was a result of the many times Pau Gasol was pushed and elbowed and they let them play; specially in the OT. If that last play was in the beginning of say any quarter I'm 100% sure it was going to be a foul on Fisher. That's the way the league calls the games many times I have seen Gasol being foul at the end of games(remember at Miami?) and they don't call anything.
I'm glad Odom finally showed signs of being passionate when it matters. I watched the game on TBS and Carl Malone was calling his name and I totally agree with Malone. Odom has great talent but so does many guys in the NBA what he needs is show heart and bring it every night.

I couln't say it myself better. Totally agree with you +rep
I watched today Firsttake on Espn and they were talking about that. Criticizing the Lakers for celebrating and I was thinking: You have to be kidding me. The Celtics do celebrate even when bitting a sorry *** team and they trash talk during and after the games and yet the Lakers aren't allowed to have a little beat of revenche celebration moment?. Is not the finals BUT it means something.
I know they are one of the best teams in the league and even when I'm a Lakers fan I recognice that during this season they have play better basketball almost than anybody and they have 3 hall of fame players.
But what is great about beating them in Boston is that the Lakers didn't have Bynum they played 5 games in 7 days on the road and the game was a back to back game in what they missed so many freethrows and on top of that they had to play OT?. That was a huge win and I think that it was a really good reason to celebrate, because everybody knows that if the Celtics hit that last shot there will be a Boston dance in the middle of the court too and Garnett will be making his faces and screaming and yada, yada, yada.
Well I'm bored. I just turned on my 360 to play some Crackdown. :)

Also for the Cavs to complain about the last call is idiotic. They got the call on their side. And for the same play Pacers got the call. The dunk contest was terrible, worse than last year's.
I think only one dunk captured my attention.

There were a couple of decent dunks, but nothing special. I thought last year's dunk contest was one of the best in recent years, and this year's contest sucked in comparison. Also the 3 point contest was fairly disappointing.
Hoping that the All Star game itself is a good one...

Last year Dwight didn't even dunk and he won the contest, and this year, we had Nate jumping off someone's back basically dunking a 8 ft goal to win the contest. Bogus.
The 3 point contest was bogus. Can't believe Lewis blew it like that.

I don't think fan votes is the solution to anything at all. That's just an excuse the league has for rigging the winners. Shaq and Kobe co-mvps? How convenient that was since Kobe and Shaq on the same team was the main storyline of the weekend.
There was an All-Star weekend?

NBA=WWE thats how it was for the ASW imo
Also did anyone catch that Craig Sager interview with Kobe at halftime where he butchered Jabbawockeez's name?

Hopefully Nate Robinson doesn't compete in next years dunk contest.

Yeah. And at least Lebron's promised to show up next year. And hopefully Dwight Howard competes again. The dunk he did when he brought out that rim may not have been amazing, but it least it was all original and got you hyped up.

I've started to become suspicious as well. I love the NBA, but some very suspicious revelations have occurred over the last year or so:
-The Celtics receiving Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen as gifts.
-The Lakers receiving Pau Gasol as a gift.
-Lakers Vs Celtics in the finals.
And now over the weekend:
-The judges giving Dwight and Nate suspiciously high scores and giving Rudy Fernandez suspiciously low scores when Rudy's dunks were arguably more impressive. (Personally, I think they did this because they received early word of Dwight's and Nate's big plans for the final rounds.)
-Giving Shaq and Kobe "Co-MVPs".
The only thing that's keeping me from being more suspicious is that the Knicks have been sucking for the last 8 years. Everyone knows that a good New York team would be a huge presence for the NBA and add a lot more buzz. After all.....New York is the "Sports capital of the world." If the NBA was staging things then I'm sure they would want to improve the Knicks as well. But as a Knick fan, I can tell you that we have not received any such treatment.
But as for the dunk contest.....I liked:
-Dwight bouncing the ball off the side of the backboard and dunking it.
-Nate jumping over Dwight.
-Rudy Fernandez catching the ball from behind the backboard and dunking it (even though it took him 47 tries).
But yeah...I'm not sure why Nate thought anyone would be impressed by his stepping stool dunk. That's basically like hitting at the Home Run Derby from the pitcher's mound. lol

I enjoyed all-star weekend! I thought the 3 point shoot out was a big upset! I thought Lewis was gonna take it for sure. I'm glad Kapono got knocked out, though
Didn't think Rose would win, either.. was goin for Parker or Harris.
I liked the dunk contest as well, didn't think Nate would take it, though.
Glad the West won and Kobe/Shaq were co-MVP's! Has that ever happened before?

Did he promise? I thought he was just thinking about it. They need to up the ante to about $3 million so the guys that people care about are in it (LeBron, VC, Wade, etc.)
- One of the worst Dunk contest ever. And yes Rudy did get robbed. The whole "kryptonite" thing was crap.
- LeBron is just "thinking" about it.
- Welcome to my world when it comes to suspicion of the NBA.
- All that Kobe and Shaq talk was complete crap, and ofcourse TNT and other media have to make a big deal of it. Kobe tried to get away while Shaq kissed up every moment he got.

The NBA also does a horrible job of showcasing and covering all of the league's talent. The media stays attatched to about 6 or 7 guys and that's all you hear about. Seriously, I want to hear about what Kevin Durant's doing just as much as I want to hear about Kobe. I don't want the halftime of every game to be an interview featuring LeBron and Kobe about their summer together. It's no wonder Durant emphasized showing out in the soph/rook game, as that's the only coverage you'll hear about him for the rest of the season.

Its called big market, big money. Unfortunately guys like Durant, Mayo will hardly get any coverage until they move onto a bigger name team.
Reason why all this LeBron to New York talk is going on. Cleveland's market is small compared to that of Boston, New York or L.A.
Lucky for me I can watch all NBA games and see all the great talent out there.

Yup, and it's no different for the other sports really. All you hear about when it comes to the NFL is Owens & Romo, Eli and Burress, etc. In the MLB all you hear about is.....well....now it's just A-Rod.
They do need to recognize more talent, but the bigger markets will decide what the media covers.
But I actually thought the dunk contest was pretty good. I'm just upset Rudy got such low scores.

lol yea the shaq and kobe thing kinda saw it coming from a mile away. As for the allstar game, it just seems really boring, it just seems like no one plays defense at all and its almost always a blow out. The saturday night stuff was way more exciting to watch
Anyone else think that the all-star game would be awesome if it counted? Chris Paul, Kobe, Amare, Duncan, and Yao VS Iverson, Wade, LeBron, Garnett, and Howard in a game that counted towards homecourt advantage for the finals?
It would be my most anticipated game of the year. :)

No, no, and no. Best record = Home court advantage. If you've worked hard all year and 1 game is supposed to say who gets Home Court is ridiculous. Reason why I hate baseballs All-Star rule.

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP)—The Oklahoma City Thunder (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/teams/okc/;_ylt=ApWB570h5Lh9ny3MnpNg0LOLvLYF) have acquired center Tyson Chandler (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3512/) from New Orleans in a deal that sends veterans Joe Smith (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3003/;_ylt=As19k7HrFvI.M8DWv3RqnS.LvLYF) and Chris Wilcox (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3606/) to the Hornets.
After years of trying to draft and develop a front-line center, the move finally gives the Thunder a proven talent inside. The 7-foot-1 Chandler has averaged 8.8 points and 8.3 rebounds this season as the frequent recipient of All-Star point guard Chris Paul (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/3930/;_ylt=At2CWRIOVpjjtIeyxZpYmZCLvLYF)’s alley-oop passes.
For the Hornets, the trade provides an opportunity to shed salary in an uncertain New Orleans economy by adding two contracts that expire at the end of the season. The Hornets also got the rights to DeVon Hardin (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4512/;_ylt=As8OKk0TP.4QppNIUESLj36LvLYF), a second-round pick out of California in last year’s draft.

Getting rid of Chandler for cap space next season. Unless they can get someone else in the deal.
Other Possible Deals:
- Cleveland going after Antawn Jamison
- Blazers Looking at Vince Carter along with Houston, Cleveland, Dallas, and San Antonio.

100% true. But right now the all-star game is just so pointless to watch. They need to add a certain incentive for winning. Any ideas?
Also, am I the only one who finds the playoffs to be way too long? Four 7-game series that last up to two months? It makes every individual game less significant to watch and it just drags on too long. C'mon, basketball in June?

It's supposed to be pointless, that's why it's an exhibition game ;)
We can all see how the MLB has helped ruin it's product by doing that to their all-star game.

Agree, but I still don't like the fact that the winning side gets Home Field advantage.
To me the All-Star game should be fun to watch and a show should be put on. Let the All-Stars show their talents.
Games:
-Howard is carrying this team without Nelson. He sure was "Magic"..HA! from the free throw line.
-Damn 10 boards by a 5 foot something guy. Spurs are just bad without Ginobili.
-Phoenix stepped on the Clippers... Not really a real challenge, but its a win.
-Can I say, Welcome to the team LAMAR! Where the hell was his "consistent" game at all these years? Must be a contract year... wait.. it is..explains everything.

That's good to see, and I hope Jameer comes back this season. I'd like to see how far the Magic can go now that he's developed into an all-star caliber point-guard. Plus, I'm an A-10 fan (I'm at Fordham), so it's always good to see an A-10 star go far in the NBA. It's just a shame that Smush Parker (from Fordham) had to mouth off at Phil Jackson when he was the starting point-guard for the Lakers.
-Damn 10 boards by a 5 foot something guy. Spurs are just bad without Ginobili.
Yeah, Ginobili is the soul of that team. Duncan may be the engine, but he's the soul.
And yeah, Nate is a freak of nature. His vertical makes him a seven footer. lol
-Phoenix stepped on the Clippers... Not really a real challenge, but its a win.
Also, good to see. I'd like to see the Suns make the playoffs over the Jazz.
-Can I say, Welcome to the team LAMAR! Where the hell was his "consistent" game at all these years? Must be a contract year... wait.. it is..explains everything.
Never underestimate the power of the contract year. Erick Dampier will attest to that. ;)
Shannon Brown.. Wow! When he blocked (yes it was a block) that shot I nearly jumped out of my chair. His freakin head was way above the rim.
The Cavs trying to get rid of Wally so they could add someone. Can't really see who they could add now since Amare seems to be off the market.
It's a shame to hear about T-Mac. For once I'd like to see how the Rockets could do in the playoffs with T-Mac and Yao both healthy.

Yeah. This just says that his career is over. Back and Knee injuries are no joke and shorten careers real quickly. I almost see McGrady as the Griffey of the NBA.
I'm not a Rocket fan or anything, but it really sucks to see T-Mac go another season without winning a playoff series.
Maybe next year.....

They were in 05 against the Mavericks. And in true T-Mac fashion, they blew a 2 game lead and got blew out in game 7 by 40.

True, but that was their first year together. After 5 years of experience together, it would have been more interesting.
But UnReal is right.....McGrady could be done. Or at least he won't ever be the same. :(

Lol yeah, what team do you think the trade benefittef though? Anyone can answer :p
Well the Chandler deal being "vetoed" will give the Hornets a fighting chance in the playoffs. Thats if Chandler can get back healthy.
Sacramento basically got rid of everyone. They needed to. Maloofs lost a lot of money from their stocks so they really had no choice to move players or risk losing even more.
Chicago got a great pick up in Miller and Salmons. Don't think Gordan will be happy to see Salmons though.

Cassell deal helps both teams. Boston loses some cap, and Kings will lose his contract after the season. Kings may end up cutting him, and Cassell could possibly re-sign or sign with another team.
