View Full Version : My PSN won't connect!
I don't get what the problem is, I have tested it at my house, my neighbors, and a friends and I cannot connect to PSN. I get the same error at all 3 connections when doing a test.
Error 80710102
It succeeds when trying to get the IP address but fails at Internet Connection.
My PSN was working fine just yesterday, my connection is up and running and my Xbox 360 is still able to connect to live. Anyone know what to do?

well, If you go to several other threads today, you'll see that many people has had a problem including me today.
Hopefully it isn't just me :/ Not sure if people are having the same problem as I.

what you need to do is go to the back of your modem and or router and hold the reset button for about 30 seconds to be safe. when you have done this wait until the power light and cable/dsl light is solid and the rest of the lights are blinking. when they are your problem should be solved!

I am more then experienced in the IP department (My dad is the IT Manager for Cisco :P) so I am more then sure that the problem is not on my side. Either PSN is down, or my Playstation 3 is defected. I have tried PSN on my Playstation 3 at 2 friends house with no success. I have tried it wirelessly and with different cables. Hopefully it is just PSN :/

This isnt the 360, so no, your console is not defected.
There are maybe 10 other threads on the board about the same problem.

I don't know how accurate this list is, but here you go:
Playstation 3 Error Code List
0710102 - DNS Error; No DSN server available.
8001050B - Will not play demo hard drive games, when blue-ray disc is inserted - Cause unknown
80010510 - Will not play hard drive games - Cause unknown
8002b241 - DVI has no audio.
80028EA5 - Unknown
80029023 - Exchanging Key Information exchange has timed out
80029024 - The attempt to obtain an IP address has timed out
80029564 - Downloaded Game will not install - Cause unknown
8002F997 - Can not update XMB firmware
8003051E - Game will not Save
80031150 - System Settings Fail to Save - Possible Blue Screen "Setting information is corrupted.Press the x button to repair and restore default"
80130203 - PS3 connects to internet but not to network - Typically means that the required ports are not open to connect to store but PS3 can connect to internet.
80710092 - "An error has occured. you've been signed out from the ps network" - (connection dropped?)
80710102 - PS3 Cannot connect to the router with current IP information - Try rebooting your router
80710541 - The connection to the server timed out.
80710B23 - PS3 Network is Down or PS3 Network is too busy to respond

You should do what Cisco technical support told me... wrap your PS3 in tin foil
Still not working... I just got back from trying it at another friends house, it doesn't work their either. Yet his Playstation 3 is able to connect fine. I guess it is about time to call Tech support? Doesn't make sense that his can connect yet mine cannot.
have the same problem with mine yesterday, make sure you come back with what they said.
wow this sucks but im kind of glad its not just mine (not that i want anyone else's not to work)I sure hope that it wasn't the last update messing up.

Thats weird. Hope never happens to me. But you do give a ring to Tech Support. Been told Sony's tech support is really good.

I am well aware of these, none of which apply to him since he is to dumb to secure his router :)
I called Sony and lost my patience once they had me unplugging and replugging in stuff... Went through a google search to see that many others had the problem, which of course were easily fixed by things I have already tried. Problem is still there, I guess I will try again tomorrow. All things are pointing at my Playstation 3 :/ I have tried two different routers in my own house as well as plugging it in directly to the connection. I have tested it at 2 friends, one of which has a PS3 currently able to connect to the PSN and have had no positive results so far.
I may call support again once I have the stress of this Linear Algebra test lifted :)

call tech support, this forums is not tech support for all your PS3 problems. Besides if you dad is the it guy for Cisco then ask him. You don't seem to want anyones help, you seem to know everything already so wtf is the point of this thread

80710102 is, as it says with the error code, a DNS error. So anyone having this problem for any reason with PS3 hasn't probably got the right settings for their ISP in their PS3.
If you're on WLAN, check that your PS3 DNS settings match those in your WI-FI -box. The same goes for straight RJ45 connection. In some cases the ADSL/WLAN modem/router won't share that info with PS3.
To my knowledge it won't hurt using your WLAN router's IP as 2nd DNS name in your PS3. The first should be your primary DNS's IP.
And the final possibility is that the network is down in your area.
I've just had the 80710B23 with my PS3 too, oddly enough it can connect to the internet fine, just the PSN it can't sign into..
My PS3 is a japanese import, I wonder if they've started to lock the stores down via country IP range?

Its the freaking Playstation 3 forum, I was hoping that someone with a similar problem knew how to fix it. I have tried several things on my own, and quite honestly there is not much more that my dad could do to fix it.
The final blow to this is the fact that my friends Playstation 3 is able to work at my house. I just got done backing up my hard drive and reseting my Playstation 3 to factory, and I am still having the problem. This combined with the fact that my Playstation 3 has the same errors at friends house with working Playstation 3s leads me to believe that my Playstation 3 simply doesn't want to connect.
-I have set it to receive automaticly.
-Entering in the DNS manually
-Taking the WEP encryption off completely, leaving my router completely open.
-Plugging in VIA lan cable.
-Plugging in directly to the Cable Box.
-Connecting at a friends house with a PS3 that is able to connect.
-Resetting my Playstation 3 back to factory.
None of this has worked, I am completely baffled on what to do. I have taken the router and my internet connection completely out of the equation. I have reset my PS3 to factory in case I messed with something. Nothing seems to work... and after around 30-40 minutes on the phone with tech support they had me go through a series of useless things such as replugging all cables to the PS3 and router, etc... and when nothing worked they suggested I contact my ISP or Router manufacturer :/
So at this point I can think of nothing else except calling Sony to get a replacement :/
Not to sound daft, but have you checked the cable? I've had a couple of times where the cable crimp had gotten slack and it wasn't making a good connection..
Other than that, it sounds like you've gone through all the correct steps, and your next port of call will be Sony for a replacement..
well this sucks but ever sence the last update i cant get on line with my PS# at all ive tryed everything but i keep getting a error # 80010201...cant get on wired or wirelesly please need help i've googled the prob. and it seems that i'm not the only one that its happening too..my cable is good and my modem is good right now i'm at a loss and its really getting to me especially that E3 is coming up if there is any body that can offer up some REAL advice i would greatly appreciate it...it says that the cord isn't hooked up when i KNOW FOR A FACT IT IS aaahhhh
I called Sony today in regards to sending my console in for repairs, box should be here fairly soon. Kind of sucks since I had finally decided that I was going to purchase Ninja Gaiden Sigma. I am also going to miss all the kick ass demos that will most likely be released around E3 :/

Still will suck that I am missing out :/ Hope they don't do timed demos like Microsoft has done in the past.
My box has already arrived, only took 3 business days to get here. A lot faster then my friends box from Microsoft.

Ive had my PS3 since launch in March and as yet have never been able to get it online, I can surf the net and all but just cant connect to the PSN or play games online. Up till now it hasnt bothered me too much but I do want it sorted (definately before PES 2008 comes out). I use wireless broadband but have also tried connecting directly also with the same result!

I've been getting the error 80710102 alot when playing rainbow six but then i can just sign into psn the next day so it doesnt bother me
I'm getting the same DNS error (80710102) when trying to "sign in" on the main PS3 screen or when using PSN w/ Rainbow Six. I'm constantly having to reset my router to get the connection. I've tried using a wired and wireless connection with no difference.
One specific issue while using Rainbox Six w/ PSN is when I get a game invite and attempt to join the game. It goes to the "joining game" screen and then times out with the DNS error. I then can not connect with the "find game" option until I exit out of the PSN and reload it.

Its good to know its not only me and not my ps3 but rainbow six, hopefully a patch will fix it
