I was wondering do copied games work with the network adaptor????
Nope, thats the whole point of sonys DNAS autentication system, (my mate tried and it didnt work becuase of DNAS) i dont have a mod chip in, never have never will, their [bleep] and expensive. Aussies have banned messiah 2 chips, and aload of other countrys have as well.
Really? I never herd of DNAS but then again I havent modded my new PS2 yet I have been to lazy to do the HDD mod

well, I havent put in a mod chip in my PS2 but i still use DNAS when i used to NFSU 1. when i go online it automatically referres to the DNAS system.

You will only hear of DNAS if you go online. I believe it stands for Dynamic Network Authentication System, it's Sony's way of preventing modded games from going online.
However, going online with a modded PS2 is not impossible, going online with a modded PS2 and a pirated game proves to be more difficult, not entirely impossible though. From what I heard, certain modd chips support "stealth" mode, which is what allows you to hide from being detected by DNAS and play online even with a modded PS2. I believe that's also how some people use Gameshark online and screw up games.
Yuo deffinatly need a steath chip in the xbox, otherwise your screwd, and i didnt kno about stealth chips in ps2's, so i guess its not impossibly, but it is certanly difficult.
Also you need to lock your Xbox's/Ps2's hard drive if you mod the HDD
Lock the harddrive? What do you mean?
So when you log onto Xbox live or to PS2 online sony/Microsoft can't look into your harddrive and see what you have on it, only some hard drives support locking so it doesnt surprise me that you havent herd of it

i would but i dont know how and i dont wanna spend over $100 and deal with all the business stuff if i send it in to a company to do it.
i suppose my freind could do it but i dont wanna take the chance that he'll make a mistake
Yea same here, i have a friend who had his modded with a huge HDD and can do all this stuff on his. I would love to sink the money into it but why sink that much when Xbox2 will come out later on?
It's not hard my only problem will be getting the software on the Xbox because I don't have a DVD burner if I did I would have a modded Xbox by now
Can someone explain for me how to exactly use a swap magic for my v12 pstwo because i wanna get it really badly if its like the following....
Is it possible to rent a game from like blockbuster or hollywood video like GT4 and pop it into your pc and use nero or alcohol 120% and just go to copy a cd and you put in any dvd-R thats empty and just burn it onto there and put in your swap magic and then whenever it indicates you to put it in you put in your cop that you made or how dose it go??

Yes that's how it works Paiza. Make sure the blank disc is dual-layer because I heard that GT4 is over 4.7 GB so that disc is dual-layered. It should work fine like that.

Friend of mine put a mod chip into my PS1 so I could rent a game from blockbuster, burn it, and then keep it lol. Highly illegal of course and I dont even like writing this ....
But yeah, I didnt do it with the PS2 though. I'm going to turn my friends Xbox into a PC and see how shitty it trully is lol.

DINAMO788 stop saying that please. No one cares.
Paize make sure that your DVD burner can do that type of media by checking the box it came in or bookit/manual.

is it true that if you get a chip that it messes around with the ps2?
Yeah it dose it makes it capable of playing a copied game or if you have a diffrent chip you can save games onto your hard drive :D but other than that if you are talking about messing up your ps2 it may be because you either put it wrong or something went wrong with the testing for the chip and Im in need of help because im soon going to mod the case of my ps2 and im going to make it blue and i would love to change the LED's inside the controller to blue and the light that sez its in stand by or on to Blue when its off and Light blue when its on could anyone please tell me how to do this?? I have the Slimline V12
magic 3, since 2003
great mod-chip and im happy with it since then no problems
i got chinese golden grand turismo 4 in dvd-9 and it works fine.
Isnt this considered 'contributing' to piracy?
I say no more...
well..yeah i guess
but i'm not ashamed
there is enogh of people that should be like that already.
i just play games. lots of them. and used to buy three or four per mount..
now things are diferent. i have little time. but still buying cheap. after all
i dont finish them all. it is wrong to pay the full price if you are not going
to finish it. waste of money. i like money too dammit. i dont like too much
internet though. thats why i dont like to download it from here. so i just
buy piracy. it must exist. without it, there is no measure for mint stability
inside the country.
I don't like Mod chips because developers work so hard in making games and you just download from the internet. It takes years to make a game and you just steal it without giving them any credit. I got to understand that when I went to my Uncle's office who works for EA games and he showed me how hard and time consuming games are to make. You guys should be ashamed of yourselves

Game prices are to high to buy new so that's why, nuff said. Yes it must be hard to make games but $60 dollars a game that you will leave in the corner after 3 weeks is NOT acceptable. And if PS3 games go up to $90 then get ready to see a lot of Mod-chips come out.
i guess all works consumes time. if it does not, you are probably not working.
you dont have to feel sorry for someone who is doing his job.
he makes games and he is paid for it even before the games hit the stores.
but its funny. they dont pay me before i sell something, and i produce chairs.
wihtout a chair, who would be playing anyway??

dont you feel just a bit guilty knowing that you have ripped someone off by using a copied/downloaded game?
NECPS has a good point, but Piracy is wrong the main reaosn I modded my original Ps2(didn't game enough to mod the second) was for fun lol so I could watch burned DVD's etc. I did have a few burned games but they are gone since Inever modded my second PS2. Yes Piracy is illigal and doesn't help game companies, but companies like EA and micrsoft can easily and probably deserve to have there games pirated. I admit small companies it isnt very nice but for the larger ones who like EA are creating a monopoly, I felt no regret for stealing from them.

it has its pros and cons. i personally would totally mod my ps3 becuase it would probably be the last console i buy, but i probably wont be able to becuase i'm hearing DB drives are going to be expensive and until they become common in homes liek dvds already are, i probably wont be able to get one. so i'll just end up buying my games then i guess. i just hope they will cost $50-$60 new like before.

I do not have a mod chip. The nice thing about having a PSTwo is all you need instead of a mod chip are two pieces of tape and a Swap Magic disc. I definitely do enjoy being able to run whatever code I want, because games like Katamari Damacy 2 haven't come out in the states yet so I can still play the Jap version. Also, I get the chance to try out games I would have never tried otherwise because the game is available for free.
BTW, you can go online with burned games just fine as long as you edit the DNAS code to be unique for each game you play online.
New Lair screens!
By: Justin Pinter
New screenshots have hit for upcoming PS3 title "Lair." Not much is known on the storyline yet or details on the gameplay really. We are hoping to find out more at this years Tokyo Game Show near the end of September. Until then, enjoy the screens and satisfy your hunger for more PS3 goodness.
