View Full Version : Why couldn't PS2 originally have been small?
Why did they need such a large case and now relize they had alot of wasted space? People like small and sleek and the next playstation should be smaller too.

This is one of the eariler recorders::

I'm really not too sure if this is a first generation blu-ray recorder but I'm sure someone more knowledgeable could fill me in though.
Sony's first blu-ray recorder
The recorder is double the weight and a little thicker than one of Sony's first generation DVD video players launched in 1997. The Blu-ray recorder weighs an impressive 31 pounds and measures 5.3 inches by 16.9 inches by 15.7 inches.

So this recorder is bigger and heavier then its predessessor??And howcome u called it sony's first blu-ray recorder, it shows clearly that its by Hitachi....

No, I was just showing the Hitachi image as an example. The quote has nothing to do with the image, hence "Sony's first blu-ray recorder" in bold writing. Sorry for the mixup.

In the plan for the original PS2 they had a harddrive that would be added later on. This was used for games like FFXI and Socom II. Since the harddrive wasn't as popular as anticipated they trashed it and made the smaller PS2.

the technology was new when the first PS2's began to arrive into the hands of consumers, plus the hard drive was built for the older model PS2 like knowitman said, and we all know how that turned out :x

If you plan on making comments like that, you need to have links with your post.
I will see about getting some of these updated on our previews
link: http://ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=28240
ok...I put a folder named "newpreviewpics" on the server that has all new images for our previews as well as new images for previews we have not yet done...
We can update our preview pages with these images but as for the other images for games like MonsterKingdom and Battlefield: Bad Company what do you guys want to do?
There are also new images of Lair on there.
bump...can someone update the game previews with all these new images???
Also the Resistance Fall of Man preview can be updated to say that it will be a launch title...
