Graphically it looks incredible, but i'm horribly disappointed that my favourite series has pretty much changed beyond recognition. I mean, they even seem to have bought back the Las Plagas from RE4; surely they could have come up with something more original than that?

The Famitsu interview stated they were hoping to explain the "origins" of the virus, which supposedly meant the Progenitor virus (precursor to the T-virus) - i'm very disappointed, especially after everything i've read implying the game will incorporate more elements of the classic RE games.

Hideo Kojima has shown that you don't need to butcher a series so that it's loyal fans feel alienated with each subsequent release - MGS has proven you can tweak things and still sell games by bucket load. RE, however, is now a completely disparate entity from what it used to be.

This just looks like RE4 in HD with Chris Redfield instead of Leon S. Kennedy.

Gutted.

I think it looks brilliant, but then again, I'm not a hardcore RE fan.

Heh, well, I probably sound like an old dinosaur, but it doesn't really bother me; I grew up with RE, been playing it since I was 13, so that's 11 years.

Can't help but be disappointed with the direction the series has taken, especially when, IMO, they had such a perfect blend of old and new with the beta version of RE4.

Still, despite my feelings, this doesn't stop me from being objetive when writing about the game, and it certainly won't affect my feature on the trailer i'm working on, or anything else - that's the mark of a pro. ;)
