I am happy for him.
I am also happy that baseball finally got what it deserves.
It's the league's own fault that the steroid era occurred. And now the sport's most precious record is tainted forever. A Rod- will not get there. Period.
MLB players piss me off with their refusal to undergo routing testing.
It is a privilege to be a professional baseball player, not a right.

Because he's the one who's gotten the most out of cheating. While there are the Mark McGwires and Rafael Palmieros, most of the cheaters are no-talent hacks, like Marvin Benard. Must've been nice hitting all those extra ground-rule doubles! :-|

If your not a fan then you shouldnt be trying to get the ball like that  Man im surprised he didnt get shot. If i was there i would of let a Giants fan have a chance at it, i would still put out the effort, but i wouldnt be dieing for it like that lol. Plus it didnt even reach the million dollar mark.
BTW A-rod should be put on the Madden cover next year, just so he has a bad season from the madden curse
He hit 365 homer or something close to that at age 35+. Now for a guy to do that during those years is amazing, and is getting help from something.
Steroids can make you stronger, faster, recover quicker, but it can't help you hit the ball. Bonds has had great contact, and power during his young years...allegedly he got help in his prime, but his contact with the ball remained the same.
Here is the thing. Bonds STILL hasn't been found guilty of using any substance by Baseball, or by the U.S Government. The only thing the federal government will get him on is probably tax evasion.
Everything is hypocritical these days, and Bonds is being made the villain of all villains, not only in sports but in general by the media. Everyone saw Mcguire with the roids in his locker, yet no one did anything because the home run chase brought baseball back to life. Yet he still didn't get burned as bad as Bonds has been.
UnDecideD point is loud and clear. Baseball had no policy, nor did they care because people were coming back to the game.
Lol I cant stand him either, same with A-rod. Pujols is the only really good baseball player with absolutely no signs of steroids thats why he is my favorite player. Plus he plays for the cards
Now who's to say that A-Rod or Pujols or even anyone in Baseball is clean? There have been only minor leaguers and some sorry major leaguers caught, so only big name players are clean?
Cheating is in Baseball, in all sport, and Life in General. If you can get away with it and make millions out of it...hey its your body, its your life.
So, with all that...Congrats Barry, and hit another 100 while your at it.

400 homers, MVP awards, and considered a HOF well before all the scandals and allegations began.
He did not "STEAL" a title. Baseball allowed it to happen. They turned their backs when McGuire's home run chase brought baseball back.

Also don't come at me with "OH LOOK HOW BIG HE GOT WHEN HE GOT OLDER" D@mn look at Miguel Cabrera(when he was a rookie, and look at him now).He is some of the players that have gotten much bigger since he entered the league.
Again with the hypocrisy, you guys do know that pitchers took steroids(OH NOES!)..yeah hmm...Don't pitchers decided a game(not just a couple A.B like hitters), but a whole game...hmmm not many people talk about that, do they?
Hearing people crying about this makes me sick. Some people say the 65% of the people(in the MLB) since 1984 (allegedly) used steroids, Now I don't know the numbers but thats a hell of alot of baseball players, yet there are only about 22(or so) players to get 500 home runs. only 5 to hit 600 and as many of you know there are only 3 to ever hit 700(Barry, Ruth and Aaron).
Out of all of those players that allegedly used steroids.

A-rod wont allow people to investigate him for roids so he most likely does or did at some point. Pujols on the other hand said he isnt afraid to be investagated and if the situation came up he would allow it to pass by as long as he gets to play. Thats what makes me beleive he is clean. Big name players are probably the worst abusers in my eyes because if you doing crap like that in the minors and still cant make it to the majors you probably shouldnt be playing to begin with. :)
I think we can all agree, Mcguire isnt the enemy, Bonds isnt the enemy, and A-rod isnt the cheater. Its all the management of the MLB. They are the ones that want ratings, they are the ones with money problems, and they are the ones in a sticky situation. The guy that owns the MLB (forget his name) is worse than FN Gary Bettman in the NHL.
Those are the guys to blame, if they didnt over pay the players and actuelly did something about dropping ratings then this all wouldnt have happened and Bonds would be a hero to everyone.
After watching his comments during and after the game i have to say i have started to get alot of respect for Bonds. He thanks Aron, he thanked the padre fans, he didnt take it all for himself and he made a moment to remember.

I still can't believe all of the Bonds brown-nosing in this thread.
I was listening on the radio, and a Guy pointed out this great question. How many unknown pitchers who used performance enhancing drugs did Bonds hit homers from? I know I can name one. #755 was hit off a guy who was suspended by MLB for using performance enhancing drugs.
A-rod wont allow people to investigate him for roids so he most likely does or did at some point. Pujols on the other hand said he isnt afraid to be investagated and if the situation came up he would allow it to pass by as long as he gets to play. Thats what makes me beleive he is clean.
There word of mouth means absolutely nothing. Remember finger pointing Rafael Palmero? (sp?) There is no testing out that can detect HGH. The only way to probably detect it is by Blood testing, which all players have refused to implement into the testing policy.
ts all the management of the MLB. They are the ones that want ratings, they are the ones with money problems, and they are the ones in a sticky situation.
This point I can agree on. The Commissionar Bud Selig, and Players President Donald Fehr should be investigated for allowing this to happen. Why wasn't anything done when McGuire and Sosa were chasing Marris single season home run record? Yet everyone is up in arms about Bonds.

I have to defend Bonds in that argument now. Like stated above the "enhancments" helped his power but what about his hand eye cordination to plain hit the ball? How about handling pressure situations? How about being a clutch player? Roids do not do that, so please explain to me how he would not have beaten records without roids.... PLUS he obviously aint doing it now yet he is still knocking homers and many people think he is ready for retirement, think about that now, what about his younger days.
Mcguire and Sosa are not clutch players. They crumble under pressure. They always aim to hit it out of the park instead of just getting a hit. They dont have the greatest batting averages. If Bonds was like them then id agree but he isnt. Look at all the other stats he did.
Also ESPN is has probably the most retarded reporters ever. "Bonds use roids he sucks and this isnt a cherishable moment" Every single reporter said that and when one didnt another reporter started arguing with him. All i got to say is STFU and stop being a bandwagon jumper, go talk about football and stop ruining other sports moments. FSN was completely fine with everything so why do you got to bring down the moment? ESPN reporters know football and thats about it, thats why they talk about it non stop.
O and ESPN Bonds was never and still hasnt been proven guilty of roids! So when the word comes out that he never did it on purpose then im laughing in their faces. Ive been loosing alot of respect for ESPN and gaining alot of respect for players they attack, since most of its lies.
Basically its up to what the media tells you and what you want to believe.
The media hates Bonds for having an attitude against them. Bonds doesn't care about the media and doesn't want to talk to them. So the Media decides to burn Bonds at the stake.
On the other hand, the Media LOVES Roger Clemons. Like I said above, they (media) defended Clemons when allegations came up of him using performance enhancing drugs. The went crazy and attacked anyone who would say such. They just basically dropped it, and it felt like those accusations never occurred.
Bonds situation almost reminds me of the Kobe situation. The media hates Kobe because he would never talk to them. At the time he was young and did not understand the situation. On the other side the media loves Shaq because he always gave them memorable quotes. That is why Kobe today tries to talk to the media and today the media do not attack him as much as they used to. (except for all the trade talk crap).

That's not what I'm arguing... he was already a great power hitter before he allegedly started taking steroids, but no way would he have hit 700 without steroids. I know he's a good hitter, I never argued against that. I'm just saying he couldn't have gotten where he is without a little... help.

Wow, what stupidity... How the hell do you know he wouldn't have hit 757 home-runs without the added help? Are you a prophet or something? Seriously, get a clue... Nobody has any clue at all whether he still would have done it or not... There are tons of players in every sport that get better with age compared to how they played in their younger years...
Steroids DO NOT HELP YOU HIT THE BASEBALL NOR DO THEY ALLOW YOU TO HIT THE BALL FURTHER... The baseball is going to leave the ballpark based on how you CONNECT WITH THE BALL... End of Discussion... Steroids do not help you do that... at all... Barry hit every single one of those home-runs legitimately... Did he have steroids to help him stay healthy and to recover quicker at an old age? Yes. Did he have steroids help him hit the ball? No.
Get a freakin' clue on reality and how steroids actually help and effect his performance... This is just ridiculously stupid...
Congratulations Bonds on being the greatest home run hitter of our generation and of the entire sport itself...

1996- "I'm not going to hit 600 home runs like my godfather did"
2005 - "I might not be back at all... Certainly, I'll be gone after 2006."
Not that it matters, since I don't seem to be getting thru to anybody, as you've all ingested massive amounts of Bonds' Kool-Aid- almost enough to fill his steroid-inflated head.

Barring a Griffey-esque turn of events to his career, I'll let you keep it for when A-Rod breaks whatever record Bonds sets. I mean, if BONDS can hit over 300 HR after turning 35...

Also i think steroids are like the cork bats, its all up in your head. Its not really helping you that much but the fact that you just did something to be really good makes you play better.
Also ever heard of Justin Upton? Or Chris Young? Those guys will be home run chasers soon too, watch them play and you will see why. Justin almost got a cycle in his 5th MLB game, and he is right behind A-rod in hitting the fastest home run. By the way he is only 19!

Barry is a God fearing man just like you and I. I am a DIE HARD LA Dodger fan, born and raised to dispise this man, but how can you not stand up and celebrate this accomplishment!
I know some of you are jumping out of your chair, ready to respond with some Balco steroid response, let it be know that Barry Bonds is one of THOUSANDS of professional athletes who take or have taken some type of performance enhancing drug at some point.
Do I think he took steroids, hell ya I do! Does it make a difference, NO. Because everyone at the elite level in their respective sport has to do whatever it takes (even if that means poking themselves with needles) to bring the fans to the park and put on a show. They are entertainers. Heck, I wouldnt be suprised if the pitcher that gave up 756 was on the juice, the pitcher who gave up 755 was convicted two years ago of juicin.
I guarentee you 99% of all NFL players, take some form of steroid, yes even the kickers.
My point is this, if your gonna jump on the "hate on Barry" bandwagon, dispise him for being a jerk, not because he took steroids because truth is, you dont have to be built like a linebacker to be on the juice. We all should have learned that with Raphie Palmero and now the newest alligations with A-Rod.
Dont get me wrong, A-Rod has been my favorite baseball player since my beloved Dodgers passed him up in the draft, and he went 2nd to the Mariners. I love the guy, class act. BUT, do I think he does steroids, hell yes and there is nothing wrong with it as long as he is making his 25mill a season, I dont care what he puts in his body, as long as he puts on a show, just like Barry does night in and night out. Be honest, when we go to the ball park, most of us dont go to watch suicide squeezes, stolen bases, intense battles between pitcher and batter, NO... most go to see the long ball and if taking steroids helps that happen, athletes will continue to take it and there is nothing wrong with it. The fact that MLB players rub themselves with the "Cream" doesnt hurt me or you, it will hurt them in the long run, but as far as putting you in the seats and entertaining the crowd, mission accomplished.
Henry Aaron, 2nd leading homerun hitter of all time. Do I think he took steroids? The answer is yes. Maybe not the same type of juice sosa, mcguire, and bonds took, but I guarentee you that you do not play 20+ seasons at the elite level without taking something. People say Ruth did it on hot dogs and beer, do your research and you will find that The Babe Ruth used to eat Bull Testicals before games to give him an extra boost of testosterone. Why dont we put and asterous by his name? Racism may not be what it was 40 years ago, but its still alive and kicking. Im a caucasian, and I would never be so naive to think that racism is not alive and kicking cause it is.
Lets keep it real here, white America does not want to see this guy succeed and thats why they attack him the way they do. Why not attack McGuire? Why not attack Jason Grimsley? Lenny Dykstra? Ken Caminitti? Jason Giambi? Exactly my point.....
http://thesteroidera.blogspot.com/2006/08/earliest-accounts-of-steroids-and-hgh.html
Many of the critics both of TV and Radio are taking the easy way out and jumping on the hate barry bandwagon because none of them have ever stood in front of 60,000 fans and hit a 97mph fastball 400+ feet. You dont hit 757 homerums shooting poking yourself with needles, it takes much skill and hand/eye coordination. Its funny to read everyone talking about who is next to break the record, Pujols, Cabrerra....these guys have been in the league less than 5 years! Yes they are on pace, but to stay healthy for 20+ years and produce year in and year out is not easy, I doubt this record will ever be touched again.....yes, not even by my favorite baseball player A-Rod.

Just a few things about your post:
I guarentee you 99% of all NFL players, take some form of steroid, yes even the kickers.
How would they do that without getting caught? The NFL has the toughest steroids testing in American sports.
Dont get me wrong, A-Rod has been my favorite baseball player since my beloved Dodgers passed him up in the draft, and he went 2nd to the Mariners. I love the guy, class act. BUT, do I think he does steroids, hell yes and there is nothing wrong with it as long as he is making his 25mill. You have to do what you have to do to pay the bills.
Paying the bills? I'm sure the $300,000 league minimum will pay the bills just fine. :-?
People say Ruth did it on hot dogs and beer, do your research and you will find that The Babe Ruth used to eat Bull Testicals before games to give him an extra boost of testosterone. Why dont we put and asterous by his name?
First of all, that's the grossest thing I've ever heard.
Second, bull testes (can't believe I just typed that, lol) weren't created with the sole purpose of enhancing one's strength and endurance.
Racism may not be what it was 40 years ago, but its still alive and kicking. Im a half German and half Mexican, and I would never be so naive to think that racism is not alive and kicking cause it is.
Lets keep it real here, white America does not want to see this guy succeed and thats why they attack him the way they do. Why not attack McGuire? Why not attack Jason Grimsley? Lenny Dykstra? Ken Caminitti? Jason Giambi? Exactly my point.....
Did you seriously just pull the race card on this? McGwire is constantly attacked for his shameful display in front of Congress, and Jason Giambi was attacked for, until recently, apologizing for something he didn't specify. Jason Grimsley was/is an irrelevant player in baseball history, like, say, Marvin Benard. I'll let you have Lenny Dykstra, not enough people are scrutinizing him. As for Caminiti, he's dead, so... Tho I am upset he kept a CLEAN player like Frank Thomas from winning the MVP that year.
Yes they are on pace, but to stay healthy for 20+ years and produce year in and year out is not easy, I doubt this record will ever be touched again.....yes, not even by my favorite baseball player A-Rod.
Again, this is where Bonds' steroid use comes into play. Everyone in this thread is ignoring that I never argued that it made him a better hitter.

You Wrote: How would they do that without getting caught? The NFL has the toughest steroids testing in American sports.
In professional sports, its a game of cat and mouse with doctors and "new" testing mechanisms. If there is a will, there is a way, and believe me when I say there is an escape route for all things illegal. There are doctors in a lab right now, cooking up the next big thing to make athletes elite, once that performance enhancer if detected, its on the the next and so on and so on.....
I played college football, I know how it works. You either stay away from it and hope your God given talent will pull you through, or you take it to keep the even playing field with all the others who are too. Its like that in all sports, you will soon see (even in golf).

Yeah, because Bonds would know 100% in 1996 that he would never reach 600 home runs right? He must be the prophet then... Maybe he's the second coming of Jesus since he can see things 10 years into the future...

Maybe he couldn't predict things in '96, but it's a lot easier to predict things 2 years into the future, right? Micheal Jordan stating opinion is different than him predicting something in the near future. Seriously, Bonds has enough brown-nosers in SF. I don't see where you saw it fit to jump into an otherwise civil conversation and try to insult my logic.
Bonds, one of the greatest hitters of all time? DEFINITELY.
Capable of playing for an extended period of time, therefore able to have a greater opportunity to hit HRs? NOPE.
Where am I being unrealistic? And this time, try to do so WITHOUT being a condescending fool.

Barry Bonds didn't predict anything for the near future, what are you talking about? He only said he MAY NOT play after 2006, that is an opinion... He didn't say, "I won't be playing after 2006."... Bonds saying he wouldn't hit 600 homeruns in his career is also OPINION... I don't see how either is any different than Michael Jordan's opinion... Both statements from Bonds were opinion, just like Mike's.

1. Hank Aaron = 12,400 AB. Bonds = 9,500 AB. There goes your logic again. Less at bats, more home runs. By your logic, Hank should have hit 200 more HR's respectively...
2. Supporting someone and recognizing/respect someone are two different things. I recognize and respect the genius that was Adolf Hitler in regards to his unbelievable speaking skills and oration yet I don't support what he did or how he did it. I respect and recognize the fact that Barry Bonds is the greatest home run hitter of all time, yet I don't support the way in which he achieved it. Sorry if the whole support and recognize definition confused your haterish brain into being unable to comprehend the difference between the two...
3. Doesn't matter who the sarcasm was geared towards, the point made was the conversation became uncivil at the use of sarcasm, which I firmly believe wasn't started by myself. I know for a fact sarcasm came from your fingertips first.
4. Once again, playing longer... Hank Aaron 23 seasons, Barry Bonds 22 seasons... Did Hank Aaron play more than 400 more games than Bonds? Yes. But I suspect that Hank Aaron had no help in staying healthy whatsoever, right? I bet the guy just had good genes... I bet you that the modern generation of a "steroid" boost in Hank Aaron's time was just legitimately utilized and not frowned upon... Hank Aaron must have just been his days Julio Franco, right; except more talent? Lol...
Don't worry though, I'm sure your girlfriend A-Rod will break the home run record in due time... I'm also sure Jose Canseco's information in regards to A-Rod will be 100% correct just like all of the other guys he put under his thumb in his first book. You're not understanding what I mean by more at-bats. If Bonds himself had fewer at-bats, not compared to Hank, he would have hit fewer home runs. I'm not denying the fact that he had did it in fewer at-bats than Hank. I'm just saying that he probably wouldn't have had 9,500 at-bats without the 'roids. Am I hitting a chord yet?

1. Bonds didn't cheat, why can't you grasp that at all?
2. You can't judge if Bonds still would have had 9,500 AB's or not... He could have turned into a DH and gotten those AB's in the AL.
3. Canseco has proven to be credible in his accusations and players have been caught illegally that he has pointed out... Bonds, didn't cheat, it wasn't a rule.
4. Comprehend the difference between Support and Respect, not Genocide and "cheating". Way to miss a point entirely.
5. Another example since you seem to not get it... Do I support the Colts? No. Do I respect that they are the Super Bowl Champs? Yes. Maybe that's more to your level of thinking.
6. If Hank Aaron doesn't do greenies, does he get 12,500 AB's and the HR Record from Babe Ruth? Who knows... are you bitching about that? Of course not.
7. Sarcasm is uncivil, regardless of how it is used. Learn that already, it's not a hard concept to grasp.
8. I'm pretty sure laughing that someone is dead has nothing to do with scrutinizing... You didn't make a remark about him at all except for a smiley laughing about him being dead, class act.
