Is it worthwhile paying more for the offical VGA cable or are the chinese copies you can get off eBay just as good?

I'm not sure if there's much difference to be honest, though I just opted for the official one in the end. It works great though :)

Well since its an analog connection, it is a good decision to go with the official one.

I managed to nab a used official cable at Gamestop for $10. :)

VGA sends an analog signal, does it not?

Bah, beat me to it, lol.

No they are not. To be safe buy the MSFT ones. All it takes is for one pin to be dodgy and your the whole picture is buggered.

I use the official VGA cable from MS on my Samsung, picture is far far superior to component and gets rid of the overscan from the component connection as well.

With the VGA the image has far more clarity and produces far less jaggies. I would really recommend it.

I have never seen the official one in action though so i couldnt compare

in theory it does matter. VGA is analog so you do want a higher gauge lower resistance cable. The problem with that being I do not think anyone knows the specs on any of the cables. Look at it this way, they are ALL made in china.

On the plus side it is a short run from your xbox to your tv so any impedance brought on via a flaw on the cable will have a short time to do its dirty work and the loss of quality minimized.

You can risk getting a cable not properly grounded which will result in a horrible picture.

The overscan is your TV, not the connection.

I would go with brand name either way, I opt for the best without going overboard, and using some random Chinese brand sounds like a no-no to me.

Interesting, 3 TV's with overscan? What are the chances?

Does anyone know what the hell 'phase' means on picture settings?
