View Full Version : Help with homebrew firmware
Hey all, it's been a while since I've messed with my PSP but I'm trying to upgrade to Dark Alex 3.03 firmware so that I can play my copy of Final Fantasy VII (I still have the original cd's (non greatest hits)..perfect shape...awesome collector's item) but I have Sony Firmware 3.02. I've tried following directions that were given but no luck. Can anyone help me out and walk me through how to get the new firmware installed on my psp?
so your running the offical sony 3.03 firmwere.
you need to downgrade to 1.5 then update from 1.5 to homebrew firmwere like 3.52 M-33

thanks but is there any way to do it without GTA? I don't have that game.

i thought lumines II worked with any psp these days.
It's only $20'sh bucks
as far as i know you need a game to di it.
but i know you can do 2.0 without a game but thats no help to you.
call some video stores and just hire the GTA game.
then all should be good :D

I have head that the Pandore Battery should be the only method to downgrade or unbrick your psp to version 1.5
But after a while using version 3.51, I dont see the point of downgrading my psp except for playing my own ps1 games on my psp...

you can downgrade by either getting GTA:LCS with the firmware 2.0 update on it to use an exploit to downgrade from 3.03 to 1.5, then upgrade to 3.xx OE/M33
You can downgrade using Lumines (1) original to downgrade using an exploit froim firmware 3.5 to 1.5, then upgrade to 3.XXOE/M33
You can downgrade any firmware by getting hold of pandoras battery and downgrading to 1.5, then upgrade to 3.XXOE/M33
No other way to get around it. I would recommend getting GTA LCS off ebay (UNPATCHED VERSION ONLY) and downgrading from 3.03
Which version of Lumines can I use? Does it matter? I may just pick that game up instead and try it out. I was gonna swing by EB and pick up a used copy if they have it.

you should best try to get the non greatest hits version as there is a patched version out there. Some sites will no doubt have guides on how to spot pattched versions.
Basically - Any pre-Greatest hits version of Lumines 1 (not 2 remember) or unpatched versions of the greatest hits as stated above, you will need to check.

i dont think so. but if you cant downgrade to 2.0 then you can downgrade to 1.5 and then back up on a custom firmwere like 3.52 m-33
i have FFT on my psp and custom themes also iso's its the best thing you can do :D
