Hey siren, I know that you are limited in what you can actually say about Xbox 2/nextbox/xbox 360 ( whatever )... I just wanted to know if you think that xbox 2 will actually put up a good fight agaisnt PS3. From what i heard, PS3 is supposed to just pwn xbox 2.

I love xbox and all its faults and i just wanted to know if I would enjoy the next generation as much as the first.

Please help i am losing faith :(

Wouldn't he have to know more about the PS3 in order to say? I doubt he knows anything more than we do when it comes to the PS3, so I don't think he would know.

Wow, Umm, this is an interesting choice for a first post, don't know if I personally care for it much.

To answer your question (which should be obvious from my several hundred posts here), of course I think the Xbox2 will put up a fight.

Do I think it will beat the PS3 in terms of consoles sold by the end of life, I think it will be too close to call right now. I think that if the Xbox2 manages to sell at least 5 Million units in Japan they will just about tie. Otherwise I see the PS3 winning by about 10 - 15 million units. How does that add up? Well, even 5 Million units in Japan would go a long way toward getting Japanese support on the system which will help it sell worldwide.

Another question siren, is it going to be innovative as steve b says or is he just talkin out his ass? and also do u think itll have alot of gamers in a  trance?

Innovative is depending on how you look at it. Some people don't consider software innovation to be innovation. Most people right now apparently only consider stuff like the Cell chip to be innovative.

In a lot of ways the Xbox2 is already innovative. How it was designed. How you develop for it. How you go about get a game certified for it. The way that handle all of these are innovative.

But to answer your question in another vague way. Yes, it will be innovative. Unless your the type of person that wants to ignore innovation that you don't want to see as such.

Siren what I want to know is how do you know so much about the xbox2. Are you in one of there test programs or something. Do you work with MS or something. I know you can't talk about the system so I'm not going to ask any question because I have my own Idea of how things might turn out. Plus I know you will not answer the question the I would want you to.

X2, he used to work for MS, He isnt going to reveil what post he was in while he was working for MS, as he wants to remain Anonymous , he works for a smaller company related to games (my guess) and yet he dose not want to reviel any info about his new job as it could potentially reviel his identitiy, that he wants to keep Anonymous as to have an easyer life developeing games.

Siren, I've got a question... you often talk about the X2 being revolutionary, from a software stand point. You also, often takl about how easy it is to program for... much much easier than the PS2 and possibly PS3, although I don't mean to put words in your mouth if I am. Here's the thing I don't understand... X2 makes use of SIMD right? Well, that's not confirmed, but lets say its what all the rumors say, ok? The PS2 has 2 parallel vpus, the X2 should have 6 parallel vpus. As far as I'm aware no matter how nice the apis or programming enviroment is you still have to deal with the parallelism, and this requires skill, time, and patients... there is no one stop solution for dealing with timing issues and so on invloved with parallelism... it's all on the programmer. This is why everyone complains about the PS2... well that and the GS...so if the X2 takes the parallelism of the PS2 even farther, how is it in anyway easier? Well, what if M$ had figured out a way to leave all the things about parallel programming that make it a pain up to the compiler/OS? That's a software revolution if I ever heard one... something you keep talking about with the X2... should I be suspicious or is this simply a fancy of mine?

Old school computing on new school hardware? Hmm...

P.S. By the way, if I'm mincing innovative and revolutionary... my apologies.

aaaah! Thanks Muchuu. Now that I know I got the urge to ask him so many question, but I know that most if not all will go unanswer. At the same time I wouldn't want to jeopardize anyone careers and vice versa. But don't some time you get the urge to just release the info some time from reading these forums about misinformation. I know it gots to be killing you.

Well maybe one question wouldn't hurt. Nah!. I just thank you for your insight and the little info you have been posted about the xbox2 especially on a site like this. I know many of times me and you have gone back to back in comment trying to school these ps2 fans on the xbox and the next gen. So any former employee or employee of MS is a friend of mines.

THERE'S NO POWER GREATER THAN X!!!

Please refrain from double-posting. It's getting out of hand.

X2 you should really grow up if you havent noticed most of the members here are open to all concils. there are only a small few who are "fan boys" and even they hold there tongue most the time due to strict moderation. Good job PBM, Siren, Blake(I never see him anymore) Rebonuk and Morph. In my opinion your only here to cause trouble but since I am not a MOD or anything I can't do anything about it

How am I here to cause trouble. I don't get it. Every time I post something you guys have a problem with it. If that the case you don't have to do nothing I will just stop posting here plain and simple. I thought this was a site where people value your opinion even if they don't agree with it. I was given siren a complement, but if that was wrong then I apologize. I'm not a fan-boy. I have played both system, but I'm just more so MS than Sony based off my satisfaction in the product.

THERE'S NO POWER GREATER THAN X!!!

I disagree.

Siren, if you think the 5 Million sales in Japan is really enough to get serious headway in that market (and i agree with you, that they will need that many at least and i think they can get it) how well do you think they have to do in Europe in order to steal enough share to get ahead?

I'm having trouble finding the current number for european sales by month, but i would think that they might be able to make more considerable headway in Europe with even less work than in Japan.

SessDMC

To be honest because i live in Europe, they are as dumb as a rock when it comes to technology, but if people knew what was going on in the Computer entertainment industy, Sony would pwne Europe.

Bloodywar.. not to start anything but just cause someone expresses there opinion you have to have a stick up your A55 and call people out.. you cant ridicule him for saying your not here to cause trouble.. and yet add to the arguement.

Oh yeah? How would you like it if I went "PS2 RULEZ!!!!!" after every post? Pretty annoying huh? So that's why we keep opinions about your favorite console to yourself.

Every aspect of a company, including stock prices, are of interest to gamers, especially when the company is about to release a new console. A recent report on BusinessWeek Online has announced that Sony's shared have dropped by 2.75 percent, after "after analysts raised questions about the upcoming release of Sony's much-anticipated PlayStation 3 video game console."

The report did not name the analysts, however Sony recently revealed that a shortage of Blu-ray diodes meant that the PlayStation 3 would be launch with half a million units in three countries instead of two million worldwide, and that the price of the lower-end SKU would be getting a price drop in Japan. The two announcements have gathered many negative reactions from analysts, even though gamers are please with the price drop.

Sony has pledged to fix the shortage as soon as possible and has said that they will b sticking to their target of 6 million PlayStation 3 consoles shipped worldwide by the end of March 2007. The PlayStation 3 will be launching with 100,000 units in Japan on November 11th and 400,000 units in North America on November 17th.
