I dont get why so many people get all annoyed when players celebrate....I was reading yahoo sports today and one of the main discussions was "baseball should ban on field celebrating" because of what teams like the Dbacks did.
Also the NFL is making football (american) as boring as it possibly can be. I mean no touchdown celebrations without fines. You cant give the ball to the crowd (only basketball is like this) and you cant go give your teamate that just made a amazing play a big hug. Why? That was the only thing i really loved about football because you got into the game and it made it exciting. Now its like "wow they scored, *dull voice*yeaaaaa *yawn*" Even when teams won big games last year players were handed out fines for celbrating.
Except they call it taunting....
Its just stupid, let players show emotion, let them make the game exciting. This isnt school. Along with that theese players wouldnt be getting paid millions if games were not FUN. All theese started when kids were having FUN.
"but but its unsportsmanship" If you dont want the other team dancing around on the field then dont let them win or score. Then when you score go ahead and do it right back. Along with that when did a team ever get pissed off that another team was dancing? When your in a players face then yea, but let them have fun. Team are ADULTS they can understand. Plus they usuelly shake hands and say good game after its done anyways.
Im just thanking god that the MLB and NHL are still aloud to celebrate. The NFL and NBA are getting preaty boring now.
It started out fine. It turned into a shameful unsportsmanlike display by all the attention whores trying to score rap album deals and such.
Hey players, it's your F-ING job to score! Don't make such a big deal about it.

Sure it's funny to see what someone does but as a true fan of the game such as I , it's add nothing to the game which is already. anyone who says football without celebrations is boring isn't a true fan.

Im a fan of football but i still dont see a problem with it. I mean they dont fine players unless its the end of the game. Other times they add a penelty.
Like the couple weeks ago the Cards scored then fitz celbrated on the sideline, next thing we know "15 yard penelty for tauntin on number 11" and as a fan you just sit there and go "WTF"
Then the announcers go and point it out and all he did was wave his hands and jump in the air.
Whats wrong with it? Sure some people say it doesnt add anything to the game but it doesnt hurt it either. I like watching owens do things on the field, it makes it entertaining. It doesnt delay the game or anything so whats wrong with a little entertainment? Whats wrong with getting your team pumped up with a team celebration? Whats wrong with letting a guy know he did good?
Let the players show emotion, they are not robots...

Celebrating is ok, but doing those "Dances" in the inzone, and all the other ridiculious crap is just retarded.
It degrades the sport, and it turns it into this giant "Its all about me" attitude that plagues the NFL.
Like T.O.
I mean seriously man, c'mon. Its just not "Proper" behavior.

My only question about that is then why cant they just ban that? Or be strict to that? Why do they have to ban it all just because 1 or 2 guys like to celbrate? I remember in the old days when teams would actuelly do things together like the "bomb" (throw the ball in the air and when it hits the ground they all fall). It just shows they are working well together and such.
I dont know about you guys but i really like it when a team gets together to celebrate. Like when the Dbacks won the title over the weekend and they all started jumping together, that just gets to you. Why cant the NFL allow that?
To tell the truth the person that complained about baseball allowing it was probably just a fan of a loosing team.
I think johnson on the Bengals has the best celebrations. TO goes to far sometimes.

um the old days didn't have this showboating.
It was "Team" Celebration. Not "Look at how great I am" celebration.
And yea they should ban it.
It started out fine. It turned into a shameful unsportsmanlike display by all the attention whores trying to score rap album deals and such.

If you scored a touchdown in the NFL, you would be dancing around too.
If you scored a touchdown in the NFL, you would be dancing around too.
ya. If I sucked and never scored before.
If these guys want to really "show off", make it look like it's no big deal. Show the fans that a touchdown is what you do and it's nothing.
Then again, that's what seperates a flash-in-the-pan player and a Hall Of Famer.

I agree with Bansh completely on this.
I think that players should be able to celebrate, but with limitations. Sure, if a players dances in the endzone, SO WHAT?? It really isn't disrespectful, and people like me find that entertaining. Now, when TO did that "camera" thing in the endzone (about the Patroits Camera thing), that should be something that you should be fined for.
I enjoy watching a player spin the ball on the ground, and act like he's dizzy and fall on the ground. That is very entertaining stuff.
And who says that players only do it because "everything is all about them". So, if I go in the endzone and dance after I put points on the board, does that make me like that? No.

If you scored a touchdown in the NFL, you would be dancing around too.
Blu- 2 of the biggest people to do that were Ocho Cinco and TO, who score 10+ td's a game..a td is nothing new too them..it's simply not needed.
Yeah, we all know it's not needed, but it's fun to watch to a lot of people like me and S1.

See football wouldnt be around if it was all about being "professional". It started by some kids playing a game when they were bored. Like the beginning of hockey was because some kids picked up sticks and started hitting a ball into a can. They were kids, the sports games they played were for fun, and today it seems like its all changed.
You cant celebrate. You cant wear anything other than a suit around the stadium if your a player. You cant do so many things because of rules. You cant do this or that.
I like watching creativity and i like enjoying the game. I like watching a team celebrate after a goal. I like seeing emotion in players.
IF you rather watch a games that are "professional" then i guess thats what the world has come down to. Im not calling anyone out, im just saying.
To me...A rule should only be instituted to protect the players and/or fans. A rule that just keeps players from doing crap is stupid. Its like saying Randy Moss cant catch the ball one handed because its too "cool" looking and downgrades his sportsmanship.
If you do something good then you should be able to tell the world. Yes it would be cool to see players just walk away from a touchdown like it was nothing but why do we need to make EVERYONE do it? Its better when they DONT have to and do.

My honest opinion is they should ban doing dramatic things like proposing to cheerleaders but allow team celebrations. Allow a player to jump in the air and shout. Allow the player to fn throw the ball in the crowd.
And why they hell is tossing the ball called chanting? I saw that happen like 5 times and only 1 time was the ball thrown at the opposing team.

It's soccer over here in Scotland and i think NO celebrating is a terrible thing to do. One of our players was sent off (2nd yellow) for taking his shirt off after scoring the goal worth upwards of 1 million dollars. It is a bit of fun and i find this news terribly disturbing

I think what T/O does is just fine, nothing wrong with him-it's normally the people hatin' on him that're wrong.
Anyhow, on subject-every player has every right to celebrate their touchdowns and the NFL commission should have no right to say otherwise.
