Well. In the end, it all depends on the games you like really.

If you want my opinion, take a wild guess.

I think it's well worth it. I bought one and am enjoying these games:

Project Gotham Racing 3
Perfect Dark Zero
Call of Duty 2
Dead or Alive 4
Geometry Wars
Hexic
Smash TV

You also get lots of free demos. I just downloaded the new Fight Night demo and it's sweet. Live is awesome and well worth the $4/month.

Like Alkemist said, it depend on what games you interesting in.

My advice to you, wait till the PS3 comes out so you can compare them. There's no rush to buy it at this point since it just launched and is in the adjustment phase. Just keep doing research on upcoming games and specs so you can be more sure about whatever decision you make.

If all else fails, just buy both (and possibly the Revolution too). ;)

If you have only enough money to buy one console than I suggest as Noobody mentioned to wait until all nex gen consoles are out so you would know what each console is about. Keep in mind when making a decision that in the end it is all about the games.

As much as I love the 360, I really agree with n00body here, since there are rumors of modifications on the 360. So really, if I were you I'd just wait and see how the ps3 suits others. Then make your own choice

It's worth the money, I have one and enjoy it. However you might want to just wait untill games like Gears of War, Elder Scrolls, and Fight Night 3 are out. The launch games are ok at best, Call of Duty 2 being the only one that really stands above the rest.

Now though I said it's worth the money doesnt mean you should rush out and buy one. Really that's for you to determine given your situation. If you can afford both the PS3 and 360 then I say go for it as each one will have hit games the other wont. If not then you have to look carefully at what each one offers and make your decision then. Like mentioned above mine as well wait untill the PS3 launches to fairly compare them.

To be honest I may give PS3 a miss for a while as the 360 has games that I want more than the Sony machine does. However, they will be two very good consoles, think about what games you play and go for it.

Is it worth it?

I bought the 360, and it is an amazing piece of equipment. Unfortunatly, MS just announced an HD-DVD add-on. Now how many games are going to require this add-on drive, and more importantly, how much will it cost.

Is it worth it? Well I guess it depends on how deep your pockets are.

I don't think the HD DVD drive will be for games at all. It would be a bad move for developers if they do. It be like developing a game for the PS2s HDD.

True, but if it came down to releasing a game on 4 discs, or just using HD-DVD, I wonder what road they'd go down? Yes, it would alienate customers who don't buy one, but that wouldn't be the first time.

Everyone knows the early Xbox's with the Thomsen drive has issues playing newer games, but that didn't stop MS from releasing them.

MS is not letting game developers make games on HD-DVD as it sits right now.

I imagine that if they do allow them to do so in the future one of 2 things will be required

1) The games will be required to ship the multi-DVD version with the HD-DVD version

2) They will have to offer a DVD version side by side with the HD-DVD version.

Thus all games will be available to all users. No one alienated.

Yes, no one is alienated, but look at the cost factor to Microsoft for having to carry that out. And if its one thing Microsoft is trying to do this time around, its make money, not lose it.

I don't think we'll see HD-DVD games.

I don't think we'll see HD-DVD games.

I sincerely hope so. But really, is it worth it on MS's part to prop up HD-DVD like this? I mean people aren't going to rush out to get an add-on High-Def drive when Sony's box comes with one built in, and is the better format anyways.

Aleman
01-07-2006, 20:48
It all depends on how the format war goes. If HD-DVD gains enough marketshare and a decent amount of movies get released for it, then this add-on will be an inexpensive way for 360 owners to watch HD movies. MS isn't risking anything.

I remember that peter moore said that there will never be an internal HD-DVD drive in the 360, only external and that it was to be used for movies.

Yeah or you might be a Splinter Cell fan, wich will be equally good as MGS.

If you like shooters, ala Halo 2, then Xbox 360 is good for you. Also, if you like western-style RPG's, ala Knights of the Old Republic, the Xbox 360 is for you. If you don't, then I would suggest testing out the other genres that it isn't so strong in before buying it.

Say Halo 1, don't say Halo 2! :(

I added a gamepage for PSP - you can use this whenever discussing sales numbers, hardware news and the like.
