I apologize if this question has been asked before but I just wanted to know if anyone has any information on what may be the best quality and largest sized HDD available for the PS3? Links to the HDD would help lots. Thanks guys ;)

I searched the other day for 2.5 SATA HDD's and the largest I found on the couple websites I went on was 250GB :p

There's 320GB ones out there, maybe even 500 now. Though, they spin at 7200 I believe.

well if you really want, you can have a 1 tb hdd...check out newegg.com for what brands are available for it. mind you if you go this route it would have to be an "external"/"internal" way. meaning you have to get the 2.5 hdd out of your ps3 and go with the 3.5 hdd. you would then need an inclosure and SATA cables(female to male type). sounds kinda complicated, but its really easy to do actually. i got all the info to do mine from this forum...just do a search on "my 500gb ps3" or something like that. i got my self a 500 gb hdd hooked up and so far im still dowloading my anime stuff. once you hooked it all up...BAM, you got yourself a ps3 with 1 tb of hdd space to download all that porn...if your into that kinda stuff...

If you want to replace your hard drive and you have data stored in the old one, how do you back it up?
I'm guessing you need a external hard drive to back it up to?
So if you change it out, reboot the new drive, how do you reload the date from your back up?
Also I heard that the new drive has to be FAT32... How do you change the entire 250 space to FAT32?
I thinking of upgrade to 250gb. 500 would be nice but don't want to wait... Is 500gb coming out soon?
Thanks.

You can change from NTFS to FAT32 format.

people have been saying if you have a 7200rpm in your ps3,it will run hotter because the cooling system is for 5400rpm and it might get to hot and shutdown or damage your files just put the right spec in the ps3 its not a pc if you dont want any problems.its your choice.

Biggest commercially available drive you can get at present is 250gb.

The technology for 320gb-500gb exists, but they haven't released this to the public yet :)
