Good luck its easier than it looks, the only problem you'll probably have is the Kanji, so just learning the Hiragana, Katakana and words is enough at first really then you can speak it and read quite a bit of it too.

Hiragana is the main Japanese alphabet, Katakana is used for foreign words and Kanji is used for words. You can write the entire language in Hiragana but newspapers, posters etc. use Kanji so its kinda a necessity. Hiragana is mainly used for verbs and 'connecting' words. So basically all 3 are used often which is why you should learn all 3 but tbh just learning Hiragana and Katakana is enough, then learn Japanese words, then learn Kannji. Its a long road but just do Hiragana and Katana first and you'll be able to pick up a good bit just from those characters.
