And that was the original comment I typed up as a reply to your inital post below! Sorry for it being a bit long, but I just wanted to address every aspect of what you said. Again regarding the length, each comment below represents a separate paragraph of the same comment, so just imagine them all together as one post to form a single, long-winded "essay"; I just hope it's not too confusing. Please reply when you get the chance to read it, I'd like to see what you think of it. Now I'm going to read through it myself because, as I said, I haven't read this for weeks, so I can't even remember what I said and it'll be just as new to me as it is to you...
"Again, apologies for being rude, but I found a lot of what you said rather annoying. Thank you for addressing me. I did find your initial comment about "Fallout being the only game where you can shoot someone's foot and their head explodes" rather amusing, yet didn't feel I should bring it up..."
"Fallout 3 isn't a brilliant game - I myself aren't a massive fan - even I had my frustrations with it, but it truly is a masterpiece, so I felt I should stand up for its criticisms in some way.
"The game isn't comical, but can be criticised for this by those that would like to take it incredibly seriously. I don't find it comical at all, and I don't know why anyone would feel it is - although before playing it, my friend told me that he got bored of it after he found it too "childish" - yet it's a genuinely enthralling adventure.
"The games are entirely different, and their respective themes cannot be compared, as they're entirely different scenarios under entirely different situations and circumstances. The atmosphere which the developers have chosen to engage the player with vary because the developers had different intentions when considering appealing to different audiences: not every likes the same sort of game! If you don't like a particular colour scheme of Fallout 3, that's your preference, but you can't complain about a game that excels so well in its intentions - it's like saying Uncharted has terrible graphics! The fact of the matter is, Bethesda chose this style to fit in with their depictions of such a world, and it was intended for those that enjoy marvelling at another's virtual atmosphere, like myself, to appreciate.
"As with the colour, although it's a matter of opinion, the theme was undeniably effective. The Fallout universe is a post-apocalytic wasteland! It's supposed to look dull and drab, with a sense of despair; it sets the perfect atmosphere for the theme, and although it may appear boring and bland to some, it unarguably does what it's intended to do: set the theme. Resistance is an alien invasion, not a wasteland, and therefore chooses a vibrant and attractive colour-scheme, that's engaging and grasps a gamer's attention - you can't have a dull FPS! - thus it does not require the dull theme that Fallout has utilised so incredibly well; BioShock isn't supposed to be a world of despair - it's a world of discovery. You're supposed to explore it with intrigue, not suspicion.
"But regardless, even if you did "accidentally" get the game, why did you Platinum it just for the Trophies; if you don't like a game, don't play it! I mainly get annoyed at Trophy *****s because, due to a very stressful career, gaming is one of the easiest ways to relax, and I myself enjoy collecting Trophies - but when people, including friends and yourself, play games solely for the Trophies, it's only natural that I get annoyed; it takes the fun out of them. I enjoy competing with friends and showing of my Trophy Collection. But when there are people that achieve Trophies just for the sake of having a Trophy rather than for their traditional purposes, it takes a lot of the enjoyment out of collecting them, and they seem to lose all the value and satisfaction that they were previously associated with!
The message is split up into paragraphs, with each paragraph occupying a separate post so as not to break up the structure into illogical chunks, and is as follows:"Ah, OK. Apologies for my comment on the Borderlands article, I may have gone very over the top there, and see that I was rather rude and insulting. It's good to see that you responded with a good tone on the matter!
Sorry about the delay. My computer's not been working for a while, so I haven't been on PSU recently. I haven't checked back on the articles that I originally posted on as they've been lost amongst the myriad or articles that no longer inhabit the first page. I've had the reply saved on my computer for a while now, so it may seem old/out-dated as I haven't read, checked or edited it since I first typed it up with intentions to send it to you, so it'll be just as new to me as it is to you; It was so long ago that I can't even remember what I said, so I'll be reading it aswell... just bear in mind that this was typed up a while ago after you initially left a message on my Profile, and that it's particularly long, so it'll cover a few posts. This is the post, which I typed up as a reply to your original post below when I first read it:
anybody home? I said lay it at me man I wanna hear what you have to say. I got plat on both games, that makes me an expert on both. I've done everything there is to do in each. Borderlands rapes fallout 3.
