hey I didn't know that I had this message, so sorry I haven't responded earlier. At this point i'm not sure if I would recommend installing YDL or not, the ps3 operating system, xmb, and other features are getting robust enough that you almost don't need it.
However it depends on what you're trying to do. You can think of YDL as any desktop computer, Windows XP, Mac OS X, etc... YDL is simply a Linux operating system. It's not a cross over, from xmb to YDL, you have to shut down the ps3 and startup YDL just like any other computer, there's a shortcut to do this in the xmb, however it is not like starting up a game because the ps3 OS has to shut down first. It does not affect the ps3 side of things in any way except for to use some of your hard drive space up.
as far as linking your ps3's together to run as one - i have no idea what your'e describing here.
Hope this helps - let me know if you have any other questions

Hello. I just read your post about the YDL. I have recently been looking into this and your post was very insiteful. Thank you for the information and would you care to answer just a few more of my own. To be perfectly honest would you recommend installing this or any OS onto the PS3?Preferrably YDL ofcourse. What does it look like after installation? Is the cross over to the XMB and YDL confusing? Does it really down grade the performance of PS3 games that you noticed? And lastly, How to I link both of my PS3's together to make them run as one? Does the YDL make it possible?
