Assassin's Creed III Confirmed, Scheduled For October 30th Release

Giant Bomb reports that Assassin's Creed III was confirmed on the latest Ubisoft investor call, and it's scheduled for release on October 30th, 2012. There have been rumors for months that the next AC game will take place in modern New York (Revelations end-game cinematic), and involve the American Civil War, or even China (Assassin's Creed Embers), but at the moment Ubisoft is remaining pretty tight lipped. What we know for sure is Desmond will still be around, but there's no word yet on if Shao Jun from Embers will replace Ezio or if there will even be a replacement at all.
It appears as if Ubisoft's top dog Yves Guillemot is quite pumped about ACIII, as he reportedly declared during the call that it's going to be the true next generation of the AC brand and interactive entertainment / storytelling in general, and that the company plans on it being the biggest launch in Ubisoft history.

I don't know about you guys, but I'm pumped. I'm going to miss Ezio for sure, but I've really got to know what the whole first civilization conspiracy is all about, and what Desmond's role is in everything.

I haven't beaten II or Brotherhood yet and still need to get Revelations. I have so much catching up to do.

I still need to play Revelations. I need a new location "and some minor platforming in modern-day New York isn't too bad wither)

I'd love to see a Japanese AC, or a modern AC. Surprise us Ubisoft!

A modern day assassins creed won't feel anything like an assassins creed game. It would basically have to turn into splinter cell almost. Lots of stealth and whatnot.

I hope its not in the american revolution as per the rumors...Japan would be perfect.

Phew AC3?
The series is too fast for me, i just can't keep up with the releases.
I played AC and ACII but stopped once they included all the MP stuff.

Should i try to catch up or just wave goodbye... i don't know :\

By the time its released Revelations should have hit the £5 sweet spot on Ebay, annual releases are tiresome.

I would love to see an Asian or other ethnicity main character. Ezio was cool, but it's time for something different imo.

How's that supposted to work when Desmond is the descendant of them all?
I thought he's the ultimate Assassin now that he "learned" all the techniques through the animus?
Will we play as him in AC3?

I'm a little bit confused (keep in mind i stoped after AC:II) :lol:

I would like to see AC3 in America, that'd be cool to see how it ties in.

A japan, or modern one would be cool too.

Still need to complete Revelations yet but i'm looking forward to seeing how they plan on concluding Desmond's story

Same with me, Im feel I have played them all but only played 1 and 2. Maybe a next gen AC I would buy.

Assassin's Creed is definitely moving too fast for me without enough change. Assassin's Creed 2 was the only significant change out of them all. Please give me something outside of Masayaf and Italy! And no, the American Revolution is not an acceptable answer.

A modern AC would be meh. I still need to pick up Revelations though.

I'm confused was the third and fourth? AC's not AC 3 and 4? Or were they spin offs? Aah the whole thing confuses me.

Well "canon-wise" AC:Brotherhood and AC:Revelations belong to ACII (Ezio's Story).
ACIII will have a new character... the question is will they take Desmond and finish the series (unlikely) or will they just introduce another ancestor?!

Imo they should find a suitable end for the series, the story is convoluted enough as it is.

How does moving it into a Japanese setting turn it into a JRPG?
Its not a 'anything' based series. Its science-fiction. When the first one came out no one would have said it would move to Italy.

Wow, been in development for 3 years. Should be good - I'm a big AC fan :D

Never understood the argument that i'm seeing in here that games coming out in consecutive years are too much. I'm happy with a yearly AC game as long as they keep to the same quality and so far, for me, they have. I haven't played much of AC:R yet (< 1 hour) but as far as AC2 and AC:B both of those games were nothing short of fantastic with alot of content inside of them.

For the record, i'm the type of person that if they moved to a monthly release i'd still get them as long as they are fun. With the Team behind AC3 said to be have working on the game for 3 years i can honestly say i am really excited about this instalment.

Yeah if anything the quality of the games have improved with each release, most people I've talked to have said that Revelations is the best yet.
I was worried that the multiplayer in brotherhood would be half-assed but it was brilliant fun, can be pretty challenging at times too. Definitely different to a lot of other online multiplayers around.

I havent played Revelations yet but I've really enjoyed the story so far, if they do an Assassins Creed 3 my only wish is that they keep the story on par with the previous titles.

Super stoked for the next installment! I'm actually really interested in seeing it set during the American Revolution. My only concern is, was there enough stuff to climb? Trees maybe...

Also, to the people saying it should be set in modern times... Isn't AC all about being in the past? I can't see it being in present time at all, just would'nt be an AC game.

Yearly releases don't exactly build anticipation. The sequel just becomes another game in the series and overall loses its value. The minor improvements haven't justified another game.

I doubt it'll be a big jump, but i am hoping for it.
