By my old school console calculations PS4 should be a 512-bit console lol
or is it 1024-bit since this generation lasted so long?

looks pricey
I think where some people in these types of threads go wrong, is when they think that corporate entities are on the same playing fields as the consumers. You have to understand that corporate entities such as MS, Sony, etc have access or can gain access to technologies that the consumer won't see for years. So when you guys look at these specs and say well, how can they have this and that and its not even out yet? Stop and think about what you are saying.
Sometimes, yes.
I dont really understand the specs and I dont know if its really worth going too much into it. Speculation is good but I want to see official specs sometime soon. I like my PS3 but Ive had it since 2006, Im so ready for PS4.
You do know that APUs support Dual Graphics right? AMD Richland + 1.84 Tflops? Richland itself is aiming for 1.0+ Tflops I am thinking 1.1-1.3 Tflops. It will be using AMD 8000 series IGP. So we could see somewhere between 2.84-3.4 Tflops.
One good thing to note is that every product used in a console gets a new version on the market right after console launch at its full scale so this could be where this APU comes from. It has TSV, and HSA tech in it. Which was a key point of Sony engineer talk awhile ago. Also its at 28nm.
Well it could be AMD 7970M From the Pitcarin brand. It runs at 2.1 Tflops. Scaling it back just a little wouldn't be impossible and TDP is under 100.
Not if 1.84 Tflops was running under 100 TDP. Like say it was based on AMD Pitcarin 7970M Which is 2.1 Tflops. It wouldn't be hard to scale that back to 1.84 Tflops. You know its possible they could squeeze a little more performance out of it before they launch or say scale it back for first kits and test how far it can go so later kits we could see 2.1 Tflops from it. TDP alone without them scaling back is 75. They probably want something around 50-65 TDP. Although I believe 75 TDP is possible.
What this all probably amounts to is better graphics for PS4 and nextbox games that look very close and comparable, while a PC will probably give you the best visual experiance. Status quo unchanged and obvious.
