dc89 invited me to repost this thread due to the original one getting severely derailed. So lets see if we can stick to the actual topic this time. Thanks.
I didn't know there was a return to glory. Sony's been on top since 1994 in my book and that's where they'll stay.
Glory? How is this decided?
TO me, as long as they make games, they're glorious enough.
Who gives a F#%$ what some armchair wannabe CEOs here think! :snicker
The #1 thing this generation taught me.
Sales decide quality.
Don't worry about it, this is a common misconception, with good reason!

I never thought Playstation left Glory. It's doing great. Pumping out sales and games.
Well, there is permanent competition now. With Nintendo, Sony and Microsoft now sharing the consumer base, it's something they all need to get used to. On average they all have about 75 million consoles each. Competition is a good thing. First place will most likely be a separation of a couple million units on average.
This is the best time for gamers. More games, more consoles, more competition and more choices.
I just want to know what the measuring stick for glory is. PS2 sales? Half of the PS2's sales? I mean if we're going to say the PS3 isn't a real success because it's not doing PS2 numbers than we might as well call every console from here on out a failure.
Nothing is ever going to match the PS2's sales. That was a right place, right time type of thing. The PS2 was great but there was a lack of competition. Microsoft wasn't established yet. Nintendo was falling off the radar a bit and we all know what happened with Sega. All the cards fell into place for Sony last generation.
Yeah the 'podium' placements idea is stupid. As long as there's competition it's fine.
the only reason XBOX360 has sold more units is they released the console as soon as they could to sell it before the PS3, they knew perfectly it was not tested enough and it could have some parts overheat but having this headstart was so important screwing the customers was of no importance (and of course having so many people buy a second and third console just added more sales)
Next gen is going to be a sluggfest between sony and Ms....someone is getting knocked the fack out lol
Either that or the number differences will end up marginal. Both the Xbox and PS brands are strong now so the competition is alot more intense than last gen. I do think that if Sony prices the PS4 competitively and properly markets it they will be back on top. But I dont think we'll ever see a PS2 level domination again. Whoever leads next gen propably wont by much unless the other company really drops the ball in a major way.
Snes Vs Genesis part 2! Lol
Every mentions sony coming out the box with an expensive console but don't rule out MS doing the same thing this next gen? It could happen.
