there are like a billion other threads with practically the same topic, lol.
do we really need another one? ;c
haven't studios already been hinting at seeing both companies hardware, EA specifically?
and that both sucker punch and Guerilla games are solely focused on next gen?
these were the last rumours i've heard so im a bit out of the loop :snicker
I think we all have a good idea of who he is referring to and you aint one of em
LOL, I think a song may have been written about you. 'You're so vane, I bet you think this song is about you.'
That said, back on subject, well kind of on subject - I doubt if Sony goes this route this generation.
As for what to expect/hope for graphics. Game play graphic quality that rivals this generations top end cut scene image quality. Steady frame rates, no tearing, native resolution of game development done at 1080p so no up scaling artifacts, ...
I hope the gfx are over 9000.
I hope its 16-bit..:snicker
Only thing that next gen can do that would make me happy is heavily improved lighting and shadows on consoles.
64bit color depth :-o
Stay on-topic, please. No more posts about proper english.
lets hope its a huge leap from the PS3..and all game must be in 1080P
Considering there have been two generations of software APIs in the mix and many generations of graphics cards since the PS3s release, I don't see why people are worrying about there being a major leap with PS4. Integrated chipsets from 2010 would be a huge leap forward from what we saw this generation. Hell, just making a console that is relevant to game developers dictate that the next gen of systems will make 360 and PS3 look pretty pathetic.
personally I think in raw power, it'll be 2-2.5X the theoretical max. of the ps3. Probably slightly (30-35%) more powerful than the competition (but every company will love to tell you that they've made the most powerful console). A hell of a lot more dev friendly, so guys like EA, Activision, 2k, Ubisoft - basically all 3rd party devs - will be able to get a lot more out of the system. Will be able to output 4k2k, but in the same way that the ps3 does 1080p (usually upscaled from MUCH lower resolutions), regular (read: Most if not all) will probably be 1080p. This is just a wish, but I hope that next gen is the death of 30 fps and the reign of 60fps. Shadows will hopefully be a proper res next gen, not the low pixelated crap on current consoles.
4k is irrelevant until we have capable displays, and even then it is irrelevant - for the same reason that your 60fps wish is unlikely. Why waste resources when a product can function perfectly but look much better at a lower Rez? This is a question devs will ask themselves in each project, and short of a few more racing and fps games getting the 60FPS treatment I can't see any significant change in frame rates or a massive jump in resolution. it just won't make sense. Just look at the 720p footage in the target render thread to see why
