Beta is available for download in the Aus store. I gave it a quick whirl last night and have to say I enjoyed it. I've never really been a fan of GOW, or any button mashing action game for that matter, but the gameplay in this was surprisingly pleasing for me.

It seems there's only one battle ground available in the beta, but presumably there will be plenty more in the real thing. You can choose to worship/follow/whatever 5 (I think) different gods: Zeus, Ares, Poisedeon, Hades, and I think 1 more. Each god provides different stats, benefits, and abilities, which offers some scope for various playing styles and strategies.

There is also new weapons and armour, and skills and spells available to be unlocked for each god, which gives it some sense of progression and personalisation.

I still doubt I'll buy the actual game, but it seems multiplayer can actually work in GOW after all.
