I will definitely be getting this. I certainly hope that it's more like Demon's Souls than Dark Souls though. Demons souls was scarier. It may not have been harder, but there was something around every corner. In Dark souls, certain parts were harder in combat, but nothing just jumped out at you really. Most of everything in Dark Souls was telegraphed from a mile away, especially the enemies. The game just didn't have the same magic as Demon's Souls. I much more preferred the landscapes in Dark souls though. Not just dark, dingy colors.
And my two cents on the power of magic in the games: It's never affected me. I've never used magic except for the very rare times where an ability, like falling from a greater height, would help. I've played a Katana/longsword/scmitar/falchion with a Bow Wanderer in both games. With relatively no magic used (and when I did, my magic was too low for it to be effective). I enjoy playing these games using hand to hand combat. In Demon's Souls, at least, I felt that it was a bit more rewarding than the spell casting route, which from what I saw, seemed a bit overpowered.
I could fill up a page with fixes i'd like to see to the balance of the game for pvp but my main wish is improve Faith. In Dark Souls it has one overpowered miracle that everyone uses, a couple good buffs but with only one use each and everything else is below par.
Here is a question.
Would you care if they just took magic for players out of the game so it was weapons only? It would make it harder because enemies could still use it.
pew pew, zapp magic, no. But I'd care if they removed weapon buffs, I use those a lot. One of my favourite things about the souls games.

Not interested. I would literally sacrifice a pinkie finger to get a new Demon's Souls, but the laser focus on multiplayer ruined Dark Souls for me.
In Demons Souls it was too easy to spam health and mana items so to fix that in Dark Souls they gave you a limited number of uses until you went to a bonfire which made things worse imo. Its a easy fix imo that i dont think they considered and just put a new system in place. My fix would be have same system as Demons Souls but instead of being able to spam items for health and mana regen those items have a cooldown so you still can have the large amount of those items to help you but you must use them at the right times because of the cooldown.
They have confirmed the online player count is the same. Bit disappointed with that, some of my fondest pvp memories were 2v2's and free for all brawls with multi-coloured phantoms, would have been cool to do 4v4 for example or an 8 way scrap.
Still at the same time, ganking would get worse. Every cloud lol
