No AC would be complete without hay carts!
Do you need to play the other Assassin's Creed games to play IV or can you just play it?
It's a prequel as far asi know but it does help knowing the story.
I'm seriously considering getting this on amazon since it's -$12 right now.
For me this wasn't a proper AC, It felt like a prologue turned into a full game, but due to it's timeline, the avenues it could go were limited.
It's also unhelpful that I hate games that use filler side quests and "collect-a-thon" kleptomania as a way of making the game unnecessarily longer.
His personality explains much about Haythem in AC3 as well
I loved this game but make no mistakes if you dont like open world hunt and seek and many many sneak missions you will not like this game. Truth be told as well The main Character is not a likeable guy. He is a pirate for crying out loud!
Like Lethal said, its the same for me, this is the first AC game since AC2 and AC2:Brotherhood that i actually wanted to finish, as it is a lot of fun. I want to explore every section of the game, go everywhere, see and do everything. I dont care about the multiplayer if there is multiplayer, seeing as im not much of a multiplayer gamer.
The actual combat against enemies is broken. It doesnt work. Like ive said, when i board other ships for their goods, i hold off and try and pick people off with the swivel guns and my pistols, because countering is pointless when theres 3 people attacking you at once. If im in a hurry for plunder, ill usually just sink a whole bunch of ships in a row rather than board each one. Its half the loot, but if youre in a spot where theres 5 ships, its just faster, especially when youve upgraded your cannons and armor to a certain point. right now, i just need a whole ton of money and ill have fully upgraded my broadside cannons, and my armor.
On that note, i would've liked it a little more if you could not only upgrade your ship, but hijack and upgrade other ships youve sent to your fleet instead of just being resigned to using the same ship the entire game. That wouldve added another layer of personalization that i really think this series is lacking.
I must admit the melee combat is not that great, 1 on 1 is easy enough but if there is more than 2 it's hard to kill one of them because the other 3 are stabbing you in the back and breaking your combo, but for me it's such a minor thing it doesn't spoil the game!
