Sting vs. The Undertaker would be wrestling gold. But it could never happen for one sole reason...
You could not, and I repeat could not have either one of them job. Even a double KO would be an injustice. Stinger splash vs. The Taker splash. Scorpion Deathlock vs. The Tombstone? These PG piss-ants don't deserve such a marque match on a Mania card!
Some interesting news
.. It's all over the place and I am not holding my breath on it though
Word is that there is a big push within WWE to make the current product edgier. While not Vince McMahon's idea, he is said to be on-board with listening to ideas as he recognizes numbers are down across the board.
With ratings down, the goal is to give the audience something different compared to what they've been seeing over the last couple years. According to several WWE sources, fans can expect to see a more wrestling heavy programming going forward.
We'll keep you posted as we hear more.
Anyway, wtf is goin gon with Flair? I keep hearing BIG rumours that he is gonna be the next GM and nothing happens......i thought the TNA thing had expired now?
This is the new we've been waiting to hear for f*cking years! I just hope they do go ahead with this idea. It's what we've all been craving for a very long time now!
has I say, holding my breath
Because Vince wants it is now and for it not to change. But if Vince knows this will pay millions and the ratings are going up steadily
Then he will jump at the chance... His fear is that his old school would not work today, so a tweak to it and a role for the kiddy aspect
He wants a balance for both and yet wants one to be bigger than the other and for each to make hell of a lot of money
It's a two era situation, one kiddy and one edgier and how to strike a balance with out losing a fan base
We need to go back to 1998. That is when things were at their peak.
Lmao, it's the way it goes mate
I guess once triple h is in full charge things will move along with him
But until then, kiddy crap
I am not sure if HHH alone will move things to a more PG-13 oriented program. I think it all comes down to the lucrative contracts the WWE signed with toy manufactures looking for their return. Simply put, the more kids who watch and buy into the crap that is today's WWE product the more cash the toy makers haul in.
I am no Einstein, but it is the adults who have the cash. I remember quite vividly almost every male between the ages of 14-30 wearing Austin T-Shirts in the late 90's, nWo, D-X, and the list goes on.
Cookies for you mate...
How they go with this new path, is up to them
But it's still all hopes and dreams for the fans that cry out for edgier t.v
they can get edgier but what are they going to do with talent that no one gives a shit about?
Aww snaps WWE talking edgier and now
BULLSHIT!!!!!! Vince will do what he does best and mess up the edgier thing. itll be great for a while then will just suck again(I am still dumb founded how BADLY they messed up The Nexus!!)
nexus had so much potential! We'll see not expecting much anyways
Yep and so did the WWE lmao
I love how we are giving this thread so much love lately!
The Nexus angle was the best thing to happen in the WWE in a long time. For the first time in ages (after it happened) I was excited and couldn't wait to see what happened the following week. I instantly became a huge Barrett fan and supporter, but sadly for whatever reason the WWE went down the wrong path with this group and destroyed something that could of been HUGE.
Same goes for CM Punk and his EPIC promo. That one promo could of launched into superstardom, and he could of became the biggest rebel since Stone Cold. However, the angle was dropped and instead CM Punk became the hardest working guy in the company. Instead of running his mouth on office politics, poor execution, company numbers, and so on, he tucked his feelings in his pocket and just starting walking through the entire locker room. I love CM Punk, but if played right (at the time) he could be much bigger than he currently is. The fans are crying for a rebellious superstar, as deep down we all want to be THAT guy.
Message me when all the pg crap is gone. When was the contract up? did they resign? FUCK YOU PG
Many years ago the WWE signed a huge contract with toy manufacturers, but the only way the toy companies would commit is if the WWE toned down their product to make it more appealing to children (or in other words the main consumers the toy companies target). I have no idea what the duration on these contracts would be, but I would assume (given normal duration standards) it would be no longer than 10 years.
Sure the viewer ship is down, PPV buy rates are down, but at the end of the day the WWE is still profitable and largely in part to these contracts. Once they are done I am totally on the fence as to what they will do, will they renew? Or will they go with a more adult oriented product? Time will tell, but for me (from a business standpoint) I would go with what is most profitable.
Money talks, Vince listened and fans fucked
Basically yes. As long as there is huge profit to be made it may stay PG forever.
Well it's better to keep an eye on this to see what happens, I will be
If and when they start to lose profit or ratings take the most drastic decline in years, we may finally see a shift into the tediously sought after direction the more mature audience is craving. But as it stands now there isn't any plans for things to change in the immediate future, and it is driving me crazy.
It seems I should have not posted that info then lmao
But as we have stated way way back in this thread... Kids of all ages were watching the attitude era, so it shows an old thing should never be renewed unless it needs to
And the WWE didn't need to renew the company... But it's in the creative team and vinces hands
Keep in mind Vince WAS involved with most of the Attitude Era (endless Stone Cold feud), so it only makes sense that these contracts were the deciding factor for the WWE to take a different direction. I mean if anything what else could of made them change their product so drastically?
