    Blu-ray/HD DVD UK cases?

I just got a few imports, mostly French ones from (duh!) France.... and a Japanese one, but the British ones (1 HD DVD and 1 Blu-ray) are as thick as DVD cases. I had heard this is the case for almost all the releases there on these formats. Is that true?

Thats strange.... well it feels strange after being so used to the thin ones.

Ewwww, that sort of takes away from the fanciness and special feeling of getting a movie on the new format. I pitty you my friend

Well the UK Import cases are the same height, the only difference is the thickness of the case.... if you put it on a shelf beside a DVD case it would be shorter, but as thick as the DVD case.

It doesn't ruin the look of my collection though. I have a few thick ones, and some seasons of stuff and a few box sets.

It's the same here in OZ ~ they are thick as regular DVD cases, but as short as the Blu-ray/HD DVD cases from the U.S.

The skinnier ones are better for storage, that's for sure (especially if you've got heaps to display!)

Yeah.... the thick cases are a bit weird to see in person. I wonder why they chose to have them the same thickness?

Yeah thats weird. I guess its how its done in the UK, but pretty much the rest of the world uses much thinner cases..... seems strange the UK ones aren't thin as well.

I like the thick cases we get in the UK, as they are the same as the PS3 case. I got a few US imports too with the slimmer cases, but the NIN BD I got from the USA is slightly taller than the others.

I kind of like the thinner shorter cases, it makes them standout for the regular dvd cases when on the shelf.

the casino roayle disc they sent me was thinner than the normal stuff I have bought. TBH i prefer the regular DVD thickness cases, they feel more substantial. The thinner one I think feels a little cheap and flimsy.
I thought it was just thinner because it was the free one Sony sent me, and they were trying to save a few £s

I much prefer slimmer cases, a bit like how US DS game cases are thinner and better too.

They are identical to PS3 cases, and more durable
I've got a few US imports & I don't like the fact that the cases can be bent
they still look the same & are smaller then DVD cases

Hmmmm... I don't mind the thick UK ones... but they really look strange..... I prefer the thin ones. Neater looking in my opinion.

    But it is strange.....

Well the only reason its strange is because I'm just used to PS3 cases being thick, but short. And Blu-ray and HD DVD cases being slim and short.... not fat. Hehe.

I own only one blu ray film at the moment and that 300 which looks absolutely stunning on the Sony HDTV

I must admit I wasn't fazed when it turned up in the same size box as the PS3 games. In fact it's quite nice that they have the same feel to them.

anyway as long as the film is good and looks stunning who cares what size box they come in eh!!

I've seen both thin and thick here, but thick is definitely the norm. Must admit that I prefer the thin cases if given a choice.

My UK version of Click which i got free with my PS3 is a DCD-thickness case. Casino Royale though (which i got from the PSN registration) is a thin one.

    Here are 3 Photos.

On their side, right side up and from the front. As you can see (and probably guessed) there are differences in packaging, its quite different actually how the lay out of the design is for France cases and booklets/covers and UK, and North America... I could post more differences if you guys want, the backs are quite different indeed!
