Its November 22nd, 2007. The Xbox 360 launched November 22nd, 2005.
That was a fast 2 years. I remember waiting in line at Bestbuy for the "relaunch" and not getting one (There were 25 systems, I was number 36 in line) and I went home, angry, and splurged about 675 bucks on ebay for one. Needless to say I was happy as it was delivered 2 days before xmas, so I had time to play it. I remember my second day with the console I went to Target to get an extra controller and PGR3 and the clerk was like : " Whoah, you have a 360?? How much was it? Is it good? Whered you find it?" and stuff.
Then in Feb. 2006 I got an Xbox Live account. I first played PDZ, as my first online experience, and I was blown away. From then on I fell in love with the little white console that has a DVD drive as loud as a foghorn.
To be honest, Xbox 360 is the best console Ive ever had. Ive had so many memories with it, starting with PDZ, than Chromehounds, GRAW, and Halo 2 and 3.
So, happy birthday Xbox 360!

Was not much of a gamer before. Used to play a lot of PC FPS in the 90's but stopped once the mouse controls took over and started playing Tomb raiders and sports games. Infact got the 360 only after playing the tomb raider legend demo on my PC. Bought it with 3 games(Legend, fifa RTWC 06 and top spin 2) a little over a year ago.
Then i met Gears of War. Now i have 25 games and play whenever i could find time. Only had a PS1 before and played my brothers PS2 when on vacation, but the 360 is easily my fav electronic gadget.

My X360 as I type this is on it's way to RROD heaven
video pixels appear and freezing, has issues starting up also...
I purchased it on March 31 2006 (launch Week in Australia) loved every minute of it until yesterday when this all started.
Glad I got a PS3 and Wii (PC also). My Setup | Youtube Videos

If by any chance MS tells you to send it to Regents Park Estate in NSW, expect a quick return.

@Carsonal,
Thanks for the heads up, I will ask if they could let me send it there for repairs (hopefully new sink and x-clamp), thanks again mate, I'd hate to go by the holiday period without my X360.My Setup | Youtube Videos

Try and send it on a Monday, to reduce the chance of having to wait through the weekend when shipping halts.

I haven't yet got the actual red rings, just the symptoms, as in the freezing and the pixels (which has all but vanished wtf?) but reading through other posts these were the early signs, do I have to wait for it to actually produce the red rings?

The 360 is the best console I've ever owned. I've loved it since I bought it. Had no hardware problems, more than enough software selection and the things the console can do are exactly what I need.
Long live the 360!

I love the 360, I have the best buy warentee so i treat it like crap, put drinks on top of it when its off, (it has some ice tea stain circles lol and some ash marks on it,but they dont care f it lol) I got 2 free HDD's from bestbuy when i returned my red ringed system 4 times. Get a good warentee i guess is the moral to any hardware problems

Some thoughts on the 360s birthday.
Personally I thought XBox 1 was crap. Still do. I loved my PS2 first, then my Gamecube. XBox was lame, Full of PC port shooters, Halo heads, generic western RPGs and lame fanboys. XBox had been dumped by microsoft after 2 years and these guys kept coming back for more punishment like a beaten wife. XBox was for graphics whores, wouldn't know a great game if it fell on them. Too busy looking for jaggies.
I had zero enthusiasm when I picked up my 360 on Kiwi launch day. Didn't expect to like it, thought I'd give it a quick go then flog the Halo Box 2 on ebay.
What can I tell ya it won me over with great games. First one was Comdemned. Loved that, it was a little like Seven the video game. I even liked Quake 4. I thought Kameo was a great N64 style platformer, and then Geometry Wars topped it off. COD2 was cool as hell. 360 had a killer launch lineup, has to be one of the greatest launch lineups in history.
The great games continued. When Graw came out it blew me away, then Gears of War arrived and 360 had earned it's place. Not only was this no Halo box, it didn't even need Halo.
November 2006 rolled by, Wii came out, there was no chance this was going to be my second banana console like Gamecube was. Nintendo were after the casual gamers, not me. Games heavy on gimmick, light on gameplay, story and graphics. Nintendo had refocussed the company away from the hardcore kids who bought NES and SNES. Wii was a very different beast. More power to the Wii for getting more gamers into the market but it wasn't my thing.
I got my beloved new Playstation and erm.... I don't think PS3 blew away 360 at all. I think of 360 and PS3 as equals. PS3 and 360 are different but equal in my eyes.
After Gears 360 got into it's second year with Lost Planet, and Crackdown. Fine games but nothing special I thought. My interest in 360 waned and PS3 got played more. Motorstorm, Resistance and Virtua Fighter 5 got played more than anything on 360.
As the holiday season came 360 came alive. With great exclusives like Mass Effect, Blue Dragon, Bioshock and Halo 3. The best versions of Stranglehold, Assassin's Creed, OrangeBox and Guitar Hero 3. 360 has had a much better christmas 07 than 08. My 360 got played as much or even more than my PS3. Microsoft delivered the goods this Christmas. I think PS3 had a great lineup with Ratchet and Clank, Uncharted, Folklore and the rest, but 360 was better this year. I'll still be playing 360s great christmas line up well into 2008.
360 is getting into it's third year. I expect it to pan out like this year with PS3 grabbing my attention with MGS4 and Killzone 2 at the start of the year then 360 pulling my attention back. I think 08 will be a great year for 360 games. I'm expecting perhaps a Gears of War 2, a great platformer from Rare, a killer exclusive jRPG from Mistwalker, Alan Wake and more.
I think 100% PS360 is the way to go. PS3 hate is like a religion on 360 forums so I steer clear of those and just enjoy the great 360 games. There's also 360 hate on PS3 boards but it's less hardcore, less organized. There isn't the Deadmeats and Doc Rocks in the PS3 world. It's OK to like both PS3 and 360. Nothing bad will happen to you. Now we mention it, you can also enjoy both HD DVD and Blu Ray. Guys who hate on 360, you don't know what you're missing.
Also it is worth pointing out that my console is 18 months old and refuses to break down. What's up with that?
Currently playing: Final Fantasy 9 - PS1/PS3
Verdict: Aged very well

Xbox 360 is on its second year and the great games will keep coming. I wonder how the Xbox library and the Xbox 360 compare by now

Well my story went like this. I reserved my Xbox360 at Gamestop and I was 20 in line for the premium. Knowing that I was guarenteed a Xbox 360 the day of launched I went ahead and stood in line at Walmart for 2 hours and bought another premium. I sold one of my Xbox360s on Ebay for 900.00 and kept the other which later ended up back in Walmart due to the RROD for an even exchange in May2006, an unofficial even exchange that is. The May06 Xbox360 died and I traded that one back for another unofficial even exchange. After a intermitted RROD episode I decided to pack it up and sell it with some games and an extra controller I bought the greatest black console on the market today IMO. Ill let you guys figure out what it was...hehe

Wow hadn't realized it'd been so long. I got mine 7 months ago and it broke down for it's birthday. LOL Oh well at least repairs are free. Got the box yesterday and will be mailing it tomorrow. I've got 15 360 titles which is more than half the total titles I have on the original. I could never really get into the original but I have gotten into the 360 in a big way. PGR3 and 4, along with Ridge Racer 6 and Tomb Raider Legend are some of my favorites. ^_^

Happy birthday Xbox 360. I owe you countless hours of good times both online and offline.
It's amazing how fast 2 years have gone by, in a few months I'll be here for 3 years already, and to think it all started with J Allard and a quite modest 2005 E3.
