The next next generation already exists because deep in the minds of Ken Kutaragi and Bill Gates is the birth of an ultimate game console after the high
definition gen. I subscribed to electronic gaming and I already have the feburary issue, and in it there was an interview with Peter Moore. There was one question that EG asked Peter Moore and it was when will microsoft start working on the successor to xbox 360?, Peter Moore said that the platform development team is taking a rest but they will be back. Don't anybody realize whats happening? The top game companies are already looking toward the successors of the new generation of gaming now that hasn't even gotton established yet. Kutaragi is already looking towards to creating ps4, and who knows what nintendo is thinking. But as for ps3 news in EG, there really was no news but speculation on the ps3 price.

What makes it annoying? Am I intentionally trying to annoy you, no, why don't you look at those other threads that talk about ibm, sony, and toshiba, working on the ps4 chip.

Well, in my opinion, it's good that they are already thinking ahead. I only hope they don't forget about PS3, Xbox 360 and Revolution. I can't wait for PS3 but I can wait for PS4!!!

I bet that sony is already working on concepts for the new system and I also bet that MS will start soon too. It takes many years to go from concept to design. and wait isn't this the PS3 forums? Why are we even speculating on PS4 and Xbox?(720/3)?

Thank God for the FutureShop Card = PS3 Funds Unlimited

How about we wait until the PS3 comes out, then maybe start talking about the PS4/XBOX720

Thanks to NoUseMercenary for the sig. Great work!

five or six years can be the difference between being a burger-flipper at McDonalds or a Network Operator.. Technology doesn't stand still, either. Conceptualization and innovation are the lifeblood of gaming and entertainment in general.

I have one question why does everyone keep calling the next next xbox console xbox 720? What does that mean? Does that mean thats the resolution it will have as a standard again? I mean 360 for xbox 360, doesn't that mean that everyone is always connected, personalized, and in high def? All people are doing is multiplying it by 2. Was xbox called xbox 180? There is 180 degrees in a line and a triangle and the first xbox didn't have those shapes. But anyway, what I like about sony is that they stick with tradition, I mean the playstation series is consecutive numerically in terms of the predecessor and the successor.
Conceptualization and innovation is what gives those companies a profit.I never said I was comparing Ken and Peter, its just that Peter was asked a question relating to the future.
The xbox 360 is not shaped like a circle, it has something to do with the xbox successor 's name being on par with the ps3.

i cant see how theyre even thinking about the ps4, from what i heard its not even mass manufactured, and first they have to make money from the ps3. what if its a commercial flop? I highly doubt so for the ps3 but the other consoles im not sure about, the revolution will either be awesome or a piece of crap depending on its innovative controller and third and first party games.

Re: The next next generation already exists..............
Wow, shock, horror...development companies are looking ahead to the future! Of course they are. Do you think snooker players get to the position they are by playing one shot at a time? No, they are three, four, even five shots ahead. What they develop now can have a direct impact on what they develop next, so while they might not be physically developing the next-next-generation, it will almost certainly be in their mindset.

i had discussing the Playstation 4. You guys really need to stop it, its unhealthy. The PS3 isnt here yet and you lot are tlalking about the ps4. Wait for about 3 years and im sure there will be a forum like this, but only for the PS4. So slow down and just enjoyy waiting for the PS3. The PS4 will be here soon enough.

Is good to think ahead but they must not forget where their priorities are PS3 , if they blink for a moment Microsoft will take the advantage

I personally think M$ is taking a break because they need one. They have no idea how to realistically counter the PS3 let alone beat the PS4.
I see a few options for M$ to make a competitive Xbox(next).
1. Keep the Same CPU but shrink it and make it cheap to manufacture and speed up a little. Have Ageia help them design a moderate resource PPU which talks well with the CPU and has some of it's own dedicated memory. Convert GPU memory controller to GPU productive transistors and have dedicated GPU memory as well as increasing GPU eDRAM memory. Refreash the GPU with modern technology. Have ATI design a high speed external memory controller which guides all memory function. Dedicated GPU, CPU and PPU memory. Or have IBM help design on chip CPU memory controller to add to CPU.
2. Go to AMD and say lets design a new cell beating chip for our new console and for desktop gaming PC's. We know you want to do it and we are going to flip the R&D bill as long as you beat or are as fast as Sony's cell. The CPU will have one x86 core one PPU core and four or more SPE like sub cores. If possible an on board memory controller will be nice. But part of the chip designed to talk to our old CPU for extra horspower and backwards compatability of old games. Or we could do business like we usually do and forget about our loyal gamers. We will dispense with the old CPU to make our console cheaper as long as the new CPU beats Sony's cell and is easy to program for.
3. We will wait for the PC industry to catch up or surpass the cell technology and then we will take that and make a cheap console to pounce on Sony and the PS(x).
No wait, that might be too expensive so we better think about doing idea 1 or 2 or 4.
4. OK guys, we really have to beat Sony this time so what we are going to do is make a console to work with a M$ operating system beowolf cluster. OK, this is really good guys because then we can con every gamer into buying more PC's and our new OS which will have to be installed on every PC they network with the console. Ya, Ya, this is the ticket and really less expensive because we don't need a new console at all. Only more really good M$ software that can break up the game microcode into little pieces and send it out to get processed on the beowolf cluster. We won't need to do it in real time because we can do it in "M$ time" which is better than real time.
