http://dicesummit.org/content/pdf/Li...008%20_FNL.pdfCALABASAS, Calif. - November 26, 2007 - The Academy of Interactive Arts & Sciences® (AIAS), has named Honorary Chairman and former President and CEO of Sony Computer Entertainment Inc., Ken Kutaragi, the recipient of the coveted 2008 Lifetime Achievement Award which will be bestowed at this year’s Interactive Achievement Awards® (IAA) ceremony on February 7 at Red Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas in conjunction with the annual D.I.C.E. Summit 2008.
Recognized internationally as the “Father of PlayStation®,” Kutaragi will be honored for revolutionizing the global in-home entertainment market with the creation and monstrous success of the PlayStation® computer entertainment systems. The launch of the original PlayStation® which was launched in 1994 and the PlayStation® 2 which launched in 2000 went on to become the most popular gaming system of the era, resulting in combined shipments of more than 230 million units worldwide.
“Ken Kutaragi’s passion, innovative thinking and business savvy sparked a monumental movement that was unstoppable,” said Joseph Olin, president, AIAS. “If it wasn’t for Ken and his concept of the original PlayStation®, there wouldn’t be the billion dollar industry there is today. His contributions have clearly set new standards for developers, publishers and consumers worldwide.”

Wow.....Ken is one crazy S.O.B. I will miss those ballsy statements that dude would throw around....Krazy Ken and his Kutaragi-isms will forever be remembered by Sony fans that have lived through his tenure.

this man is a true legend...he should be the CEO of sony without a doubt, Howard Stringer is good and all but he just didn't single-handedly destroy the competition.
Really hope he stays to work on future projects despite his "retirement".
good luck in whatever you do next in you're life Ken, you deserve it.**Britain's Most Successful Club**

There is a fine line between genius and insanity and Ken always seems to be on the crazy side, but as time passes you realize just how right he is on things.

What a guy. There should be a special edition controller, with Kens face,
molded on the analogue stick.
On a serious note, he's a pioneer, truly deserving of this award.

He really deserves it. He changed the whole gaming industry with the PS series. Without him, gaming will be a total failure.

Props to the K-man himself. Thanks for all the memories engineered from your vision. Something every gamer should be thankful for.
Ken, is right up there with all those who pioneered gaming.
*standing applause*
As much as I love games, I could never spend the same amount of time in a place where I hate/look down on, and continue to post and participate.

Craziness?
You mean the poorly translated or flat out made up crap that fanboys of other console like to spout?
Feel free to give an example of anything 'crazy' Kutagari has ever actually said.

Good one Ken, your a legend in your own right.
Krazy Ken literally brought video game consoles to the masses. Before the Playstation X, 1, One video games were look apon as toys or for kids, Ken changed that mind set and now SONY can sell 120+million consoles!
I think he called the X-box 360 an X-box 1.5
~~ PlayStation to out sell Xbox, 4:1~~

I don't see why everyone praises him.
It's his fault that the PS is in its current position (last).
His attitude towards consoles after the PS2 nearly killed Sony's console division (We are Sony, you will buy Us no matter what we put out and price).
Someone somewhere along the line needed to reign him in during the development of the PS3.

What a guy, an engineering genius IMO. He deserves it, and I think he should do one last project before kicking back in (a very wealthy) retirement. Cheers Ken!
