    Best place to buy?

Okay, so I'm getting a PS3 very soon, and I'm wondering: where is the best place to buy one?
I've heard different places have different return policies, like when your PS3 is defective, some places will let you swap it out.
And what places offer the cheapest extended warranties, etc.

I'm so freakin anxious to get it, I feel like a little child waiting for xmas day.

    Any advice would be appreciated.

gamestop has a year warranty through them. its about 30 extra, but worth it. anything goes wrong with your system.. you don't have to deal with SONY and sending it in, take your product replacement plan reciept and your system to gamestop, and they'll do a swap right there.

Do you have a credit card that doubles the manufacturer's warranty? It's one of those card perk things. That will get you a free extra year of Sony warranty, so you don't have to buy those extended warranties from the store.

Bestbuy/CircuitCity I'm pretty sure give you 30days to return in store if it's dead. I'm sure the extended warranty from them require them to ship it off too, even if you drop it off in store.

If you do decided to buy the extended warranty, look to make sure it includes the disc drive. It seems that's the problem most people have had, if they have any problems.

thanks man, $30 extra isn't that bad to be able to walk into the store and swap for a new one.

Wait till next weekend. The weekend before x-mas = big sales. There are going to be some neat packaged deals from the big retailers, like Walmart's extra 10 blu ray movies on top of the 5 you get by mail, or Best Buy and/or Circuit City offering extra games and controllers. You're this close, being patient could really pay off. Worst case senario is you pay the same price you would this weekend.

Very good idea indeed. If he can wait then it just might pay off for him.

oh yeah i guess i could have mentioned.
i'm going to get the 80GB. originally wanted the 60GB, but i have since convinced myself that there really isn't much of a difference. I've check BC of all the ps2 games i plan on keeping, and they all work with the 80GB. I found a whole pile of 60gb at my local sam's club, but they're $550 with no game, whereas the 80GB is $499, with a game. is the EE worth an extra $50 and lack of game to me? not really.

The coupon for CC will not work for the PS3. The 10% off at best buy will. The sales rep said it would fall under Home theater section as a Blu ray player.

but the coupon expires in a few days.
i'm just going to tell my gf to go ahead and buy it with the coupon. but keep an eye on their deals so she can return it if they have a better deal.

edit: haha, you beat me to it ^^

They have that 2 week price match guarantee, but it's a pain in the butt to use. It's not valid for prices online, even on their own website, or those computers inside Bestbuy (the Intranet). And then I've been in stores where they won't pricematch unless the other store has it in stock (they call them to check). At that point it's easier to just tell the customer service people: "here's my receipt, return it, then I want to rebuy THE SAME SYSTEM." They'll look at you like you're from Mars but then do it.

I know because I did that with NGS and the summer of games promotion. I bought the game within the time period, but I didn't register first. BB Reward Zone wouldn't credit me the points, but the tech guy said "Oh I don't see why you couldn't just return it and buy it again to have the points apply." Then why can't you just put the points on my account?
