I just think they need to chill out and let people just talk. I agree with the swearing, but sometimes you guys go way too over the top. if people want to go off on someone why not let them?

people going off on other members makes the forums more interesting. without this its just boring.

Having disagreements and mild disputes is one thing. We encourage intelligent conversation/debating. Blatantly flaming other members is something else entirely and will not be tolerated, as outlined by our Forum Rules and policies. They are there for a reason, and people become surprised when we act on something that's already written in the first place. People seem to be too lazy to take a gander at the Rules we have set here.

and yeah, to be honest I never read rules when it comes to anything on the internet. I think about 95% of everyone who signs up does the same thing and just clicks yes they read it

In an effort to keep these forums at the level of quality we have all grown to love, we are implementing a couple of additional guidelines to posting.

After a few days, we will wrap these up into the Rules & Guidelines thread already in this forum.

1)

When posting, refrain from including any lingo which is commonly used on forums to degrade others who are fans of opposing systems.

Example of these include the following, but are in no way limited to the following.

Fanboy
Cow
Hermit
Sheep
Lemming

Rather than calling someone any of the above, just counter their argument in a respectful manner. Point out the flaws in their opinion and back it up with information from previous posts or links to relevent information.


2)

Completely type out your sentences. While it may be popular to use 1337 speak in general on the internet, in a forum style environment, it can make reading your messages extremely difficult.

All we ask is that you take the few seconds needed to type out the words completely.

If we see you use 1337 speak, in any shape or form, we may at our descretion, correct it and send you a PM.

If an entire thread is nothing but 1337 speak, or if you have repeated offenses, expect to see your posts start disappearing along with points gained from making the posts and some additional as a penalty.


3)

Me too posts. We have had a recent surge in the quantity of me too posts. These are posts that are nothing more than one or too lines that amounts too

Please refrain from making posts like the above or similiar. These do nothing but clutter up the forum and conversation at hand. As such, we will delete these posts and repeated offenses will likely result in a point penalty.

If a post needs to be locked, the mods will take care of it. There is no need to post in a thread the following

When posting articles written by other people, quote tags are required. This is because recently some members (who I won't name) have been posting articles/cheats in order to gain skill points; thus abusing the system. The skill point mechanism was installed to reward posters for their own contribution to the threads, not for copying and pasting articles. This rule will enforced by the staff, and those found breaking it will get a warning before further, more serious, penalties are dished out.



I can not emphasize enough that we are doing this to help keep the quality of these boards as high as possible.

Last but not least, the mods will be watching the forums. Please do not take enforcement of these rules into your own hands. Doing so will only lead to flame wars and further cluttering of the forums.

Honestly, if you want to see a bunch of flaming and arguing, I could supply you with a list of over 20 forums that would most likely love to have you.

There are enough forums out there that allow and in some cases encourge this kind of behaviour, we don't need another one.

Well said both of you. We do not want innane chatter, flamming, fanboys or anything of that nature at PS3 Forums. We are doing are best to maintain a community that rises above all of that. Swearing of any kind, or adult imagery are not allowed becuase this forum is for all ages. Like PBM said, I suggest you read the rules. I also gave your thread a more appropriate title.

Just my 2 cents...

I think that this board has (I'm not exaggerating) THE BEST moderators that I have ever seen. They are very active, very attentive to the posts to make sure that nothing bad or negative is posted, and if it is, they immidiately take appropriate action amongst the member.

I (personally) would rather have mods who "go way over the top" than mods that don't do anything at all. If the mods lightened up and said, "Hey, let the members do whatever the h--- they want," then the board would be chaotic and nothing would be straightened out and I guarantee you that a handful of people would take advantage of the situation.

Just a fun fact, about Mid January, myself and PBM did lighten up for about 2 weeks. Just to kinda see how things happened.

It took us the next 3 weeks to get things back in order, and we are still having to deal with a couple reprecussions.

PSM is such a good magazine it's such a shame about there forums being filled with fanboys*sigh* and as for the moderating this is the first forum and only forum I have ever posted regularly in(I still don't know why I stay I don't really have much to say hence why I am still veteran even though I have been here for almsot a year) I think the moderating has been good. I admit I didn't agree with the PBM and Siren being moderators at first, I thought we had people who could do a better job but they both seemed to have proved me wrong multiple times. as for epsilon we just have to wait and see

I think I know that time Siren is talking about when he said "PBM and I did lighten up for about two weeks" during that time I was thinking about PM Morph to ask him whats with the all the fanboys. I actually thought the forum was going down the drain. I will close my post with this I believe all the moderators are doing a good job even though I do miss Blake so good work and keep it up. By the way I vote The_one for next moderator

And in response to the first post, if you don't like the way things are here, leave. The whole reason mods are so tough is due to people like you who don't mind a spam post here or there. If we were all (myself included) more mature, posted more informatively, and spammed less, then there wouldn't be a need for moderators and admins to go out setting order.
