Well, I'd assume most XBox 360 owners wouldn't say their machine is "strictly a gaming machine" either. I mean, there's the whole downloadable video content going on there, right?
My PS2 was strictly a gaming machine, because... well, I couldn't do anything else with it (okay, when I was in Japan, it was also working as a DVD player, so even there it wasn't strictly a gaming machine.) My SNES though, that was strictly for games!

I don't even have my ps3 yet (4 more days) and I have 4 BD movies, ordered 2 more (from amazon), and the gf mailed away to get me 5 free with the "buy a BD player and get 5 free movies" deal. I'll be watching movies on it for sure.

Wish i can go the future and see which format won.
I only have one blu ray and one hddvd and im not spending anymore until its a definite win for whatever side. I rather spend money on gaming then the uncertain.

I rarely use my PS3 to watch blu-ray. I am not a huge movie-fan so i would prefer to just stick to my online gaming
however, i have watched the odd movie which comes up quite crisp on a HDTV

All Blu-Ray here. 100%. We probably have close to 20 movies so far. And I was more of a renter before. Just showing my support. Is it sad that it's as important to me who wins the format war as it is who get elected president next year?

But the people you get on internet forums are never going to be most people. We're all nuts, whether we're PS3 fans, Wii fans, Xbox 360 fans, or... well, anything else.
Most people playing games probably don't go online to discuss the console. They might mention it in passing while they're talking about games, but I don't think they're going to come to ps3forums to chat about the PS3...

if you have a PS3, and a HDTV there is really no reason NOT to use it as a Blu-ray player...upscaled DVD cannot hold a candle to blu-ray and even if HD-DVD were to win the format war any movies you have on blu-ray will still be High Def movies that you could watch on your PS3 even if they were to stop making movies on blu-ray TODAY....anyone with an HDTV and a PS3 that is waiting and still using standard DVD's is just plain missing out....

I only have 4 blu-ray movies, but I don't have any way of buy them where I am right now. I live in a remote part of canada and frankly I don't trust the mail around here (things have gone missing before). So I watch the 4 I have from time to time. I will however be getting a couple this week when I return home for 2 weeks.

for the simple fact that it CAN play blu-ray movies, i don't see why anyone wouldn't use their ps3 for that function. if u own a ps3 it would seem logical that ur playing it on some sort of hi-def screen. why spend 400+ on a machine meant for hi-def gaming if ur not playing on a hi-def tv....and if u got a hi-def tv, why not watch hi-def movies? once u see the difference of blu-ray it will ruin regular dvds for u. i nearly have 20 blu-rays myslef....just my opinion tho

I definitely use the PS3 to watch movies. Sony added the blu-ray feature for us so why not use it.

I care about the HD war, and I watch Blu-Ray when I can. Just recently I bought Casino Royal and Planet Earth just to support Sony. (plus the HD on those is awesome)
Although right now Its mainly used for DVD's, but like I said, when I can watch blu-ray I do. I really hope Blu goes the victor in this war, because that means the blu-ray drives in our PS3's wont have gone to waste.

I tend to rent the majority of my Blu-Ray discs
I just don't have the money to spend on buying
I think a good amount of those that don't use their Blu-Ray player may eventually

Why so many options. Can't you just cut it down to: -Yes, I use it as a Blu-ray player a lot. -I've watched one or a couple of blurays on it. -No, i just do gaming.
And multi-options seemed a little superfluous.
I answered: 3. "My ps3 is strictly a gaming machine." and 4. "I use my Ps3 to watch Blu-ray all the time"
"Do I contradict myself? Very well. Then I do contradict myself"
