Yeah i got it. He did mean a yellow in ANY two games is a match ban, which is why I found it so ridiculous. 5 games sounds like a fair amount.
Too bad they're not broadcasting this carling cup match. I'm listening to it and they're saying the big difference is that bolton is just out muscling us in the midfield, even though we are more technical. Oh, some guy just missed an easy goal from 6 yards out by hitting it over. Its not sounding good. 1-0 bolton still.
Hey FF, why havent there been any new footballistically arsenal podcasts since this spring.
EDIT: A couple of minutes later they just said Arshavin just had a great run at the defenders with some great dribbling and finishing it with a quick toe poke into the goal! 1-1. Pure instinctual talent. Damn I would have loved to see that goal but the game isnt recorded
. They are saying that Arshavin is playing in some different role? They said he was playing "in the hole", in the Fagregas role centrally in behind the strikers. which i think is good because that position is best utilized by your most creative players. OHH Now Arshavin to Park to score his first goal! 2-1 Arsenal! They're saying Park doesnt always time his runs too well and goes offside so Arshavin has had to wait a bit to make sure he gets back on.
74' Ryo comes on for Oxlade. They're saying he didnt have a good night. It just wasnt his game and hopefully it doesnt affect his confidence much.
EDIT: This article is saying that Bosingwa can play against Arsenal on Sunday. why??
http://soccernet.espn.go.com/news/st...wa-red?cc=5739
Game over. Arsenal won 2-1. Also Arshavin looked comfortable and effective in his native role that some have been calling for (including myself).
Btw, I think the commentary pair were from Arsenal Player. Who are they? They were excellent!
EDIT: well apparently they showed the replay after it was live and the game went alright. Our defense looked suspect too many times. I didnt think Vermaelen played very well and am actually worried about starting him on sunday over kos and mertesacker. However, a good option was playing vermaelen and mertesacker, and Koscienly at right back, where he has been trained before.Last edited by DINAMO788; 10-25-2011 at 23:50.

Fabianski made some good saves tonight, but then tipped one away (that looked a bit half-arsed) and it just went over the top. It was quite agonizing to watch!
Throughout the game, Arshavin just seemed his average self. But for the goal, he ran at a few defenders then poked it in the far bottom corner for a lovely goal. After that he seemed more clinical with his movements and came into the game more.
Park's goal was brilliant! It was like a goal out of FIFA with the Finesse motion. It was a great curling finish into the far-side of the net.
Oxlade-Chamberlain was somewhat quite, but made some good movements and passes throughout the game. Benayoun also had a decent outing. But Vermaelen was solid at the back. I was mighty glad to see him play a good game in the flesh.

And I think Vermaelen should start against Chelsea he's the best defender we've had in years. Whether we should take the risk since he hasn't played much is the question but it's a risk I think we should be willing to take.

no one is going to give arshavin credit for holding for him to get back offsides and distracting the defenders long enough to move closer and slot a clean ball to park's right foot?

I say get those "businessmen" out and get Usmanov in. I'd welcome a hostile takeover.

Does everyone have access to Arsenal Player videos? If you guys don't PM me, great new videos on Martin Keown story, a feature on Chuks Aneke, Edu visiting the Emirates, and Wenger's interview before the Chelsea game are all up.
You can't say for sure if Usmanov would be a good owner or not (I would hate to have owners like the ones at Chelsea and City) but anyone is better than Kroneke.. all this other sports franchises here in North America are all "profitable" mid-table teams. My idea owner for a long time was John W. Henry but he went for Liverpool.Last edited by Firefox; 10-28-2011 at 19:29.

It feels so good.
I was almost tearing my hair out after Mata's wondergoal (FU ref. Lukaku blocked Santos 100% foul) I just thought it was gonna be another one of those games which we played well but succumbed to a long shot (Dortmund away comes to mind)
Although Terry's slip was lucky for us, I thought we deserved all the points
Loved the celebrations and how much it meant for the boys!

I was running around like a mad thing, great game, best of the season so far and there's been a couple corkers already. We could have scored 8 or 9 really, Chelsea's defence is just as bad as ours is lol
It feels 10 times better because all the decisions were going against us, literally every 50/50 but we just got up and got on with it and won the game. Fuck yeah!

Brilliant work by Ramsey today, absolutely bossed midfield and was one of the best players on the pitch. This game was so incredible, the celebrations, seeing Wenger so happy, Van Persie saved us again but it was totally a team effort. He was incredible classy in his post match interview as well (down below)
Alan Davies on the Tuesday Club made a great point last week, we may not be as technically talented in midfield this season but we more than make up for it with work ethic and team spirit that just wasn't as apparent last season. Especially when Wilshere comes back, Ramsey+Wilshere will be just a sight to watch.
Relive Theo's sublime goal: Yes we often blame him for being invisible in a lot of matches but we need him in the starting line up because he can provide moments like this.

sorry im late to the party but yeah probably the best arsenal game i've seen in recent memory after their UCL win over barca. Walcott, Santos(especially in the 2nd), and Ramsey were just amazing. Everyone payed well actually. Except for mertesacker. he still sucks and I blame the first two goals solely on him. also wojciech makes sure we never have a dull game by randomly charging out of goal at the worst possible time. fortunate he didnt get a red.
I never though I'd say this but I think I liked Kroenke more when he was silent stan. the only real public statement i've heard him make (short of the mandatory AGM) and its about coming to the rescue of his american counter, the Glazers.I knew ManU fans hated the Glazers but I never knew why. When I heard they were taking money out of the club and putting it into the buccaneers, I can fully sympathize with them. That is not how things done on that side of the atlantic and the fans there are not like the fans here. They have a strong personal investment in the club, even if its not financial and when you take from the club, it probably feels like you are taking from the fans as well. Apparently Stan seems to think this is ok because it is common in the US. I am a big Us sports fan and I've never heard word about it. Luckily, most of my favorite sports teams have great owners and I dont have to worry about things like this but if Mike Illich was depriving the red wings of needed funds to subsidize the tigers, I would have a problem with that.Arsenal majority shareholder Stan Kroenke has told Manchester United fans to lay off the Glazers and start thanking them for the success they have delivered since their takeover.
Malcom Glazer and his family have come under intense criticism from United supporters since they completed their leveraged takeover of the Old Trafford club in 2005.
The American family, who also own NFL club the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, have been criticised for the way that they have financed their purchase of the club with loans partly secured against the club's assets.
Ticket prices at Old Trafford have soared since the Americans took over - a move which has caused the birth of a widespread protest movement against the family, who they want to see out of the club.
In Kroenke, however, the Glazers have a big fan. The American businessman, who became Arsenal's majority shareholder in May this year, thinks there is a big difference in how sports clubs are run either side of the Atlantic.
The 64-year-old maintains he has no plans to secure loans against Arsenal in the way that Glazer has done at United, but admits he is baffled at the way United fans have taken a severe dislike towards his compatriot given that United have lifted four league titles since they took over six years ago while also boosting revenue at the club.
Kroenke said: "Since they took over they have won and they have increased revenues by a huge amount. If I was a fan of that club, I would go there and go 'Wow!' because how could you do it any better?
"We have a whole different philosophy I think in the States, maybe, but I think it's time maybe for everybody to think a little bit. I think they ought to think about who invests in these clubs.
"He (Glazer) took money out of the club. So what? (LA Lakers owner) Jerry Buss takes money out of his club. A lot of owners in the US do. No-one ever says anything about it. Did the Lakers win anything? Well, yeah. They did. How big's their revenue? Pretty darn good.''
Kroenke has been criticised for his lack of public appearances at Arsenal since he took over the club in May.
The American, branded in some quarters as 'Silent Stan' has made a point of boosting his profile in London recently, however. Kroenke addressed the club's AGM last week, watched his first Arsenal match of the season last weekend - when the Gunners beat Chelsea 5-3 at Stamford Bridge - and he also visited the club's training ground on Monday.
There, Kroenke addressed the first team in the company of Arsene Wenger before re-iterating his support for the Gunners boss to the media.
As well as being a big fan of the Frenchman, Kroenke is also an admirer of the self-sustaining financial model the north London club have chosen while the likes of Manchester City have instead chosen to throw hundreds of millions of pounds at their club.
In what could be construed as a dig at City, Kroenke admitted making a club's survival dependent on one person or one company is not his idea of how to run a successful business.
He said: "I think you can have people who spend a lot, they will do it for a little while and they might have some success, but then the person everyone is relying on maybe gets tired of it or has a financial reversal.
"What you are doing is that you are putting the focus on one person, one resource and is that really in the interests of a long-term situation for a great club that many people identify with and rely on?
"I would be much more proud if all our leagues were developed with the idea that you are competing on the basis of intellect and work and effort instead of just simply 'I am going to throw dollars against the wall'. I am proud of the fact that Arsenal has had this sustainable business model.''
Kroenke, who also owns NBA side Denver Nuggets, NHL club Colorado Avalanche and St. Louis Rams of the NFL, will watch the Gunners take on Marseille at the Emirates Stadium tonight before heading back to his Missouri home.
Stan says he's a fan just like us. He's only been to one arsenal game and it was at chelsea this past weekend. His attitude and demeanor hardly convinces me that he is a fan like firefox, cyn, molo, the boy..., and the other fans i've seen here (didnt mean to miss anyone). I honestly dont even feel that Kroenke understands the game of Football; London, not St. Louis.
oh and just one last thing, I really want to kick the person who negotiates Arsenal's TV rights in the face because they are not broadcasting the Marseilles game tomorrow but I can watch Valencia v Leverkusen on literally 7 channels. FFFFFFUUUUUUUUUUUU!Last edited by DINAMO788; 11-01-2011 at 08:03.
