Can't believe I forgot to mention it before but Vertonghen now plays for Sp*rs. My 3 year man crush and dreams of him playing for us and constantly linking his videos in this thread are now over.
Nuri Sahin would be a steal if we can pick him up even on loan.. (maybe he'll sign permanently if we ever do get him on loan) I've wanted him to join Arsenal for ages and would easily make up for losing Fabregas. He was brilliant with Dortmund.

Says I have to download Microsoft silverlight or something, plus my net is being quite troublesome atm :/ Soz
Rumors on the Sahin loan are gathering momentum. Hopefully they are true because he'd be a solid addition to our squad !

I know
I never watched it.
And nah, I didn't go. I could easily have gone, but after the gym yesterday, and just a minor personal issue, I decided not to. I kind of regretted it after watching the video posted on the Arsenal website, but after seeing one of my work colleagues in the video, cheesily smiling, it was cringe-worthy. You can see my work place (Fenwick) in the background at one point, which is actually the floor I work on too.
It would have been great to meet Keown though.
I'm working tomorrow. I'll probably have a wander through the store on my break.

The way Wenger denied the Sahin loan move makes me think it's been fabricated by the spanish press. Usually when he denies something that is true it's obvious when he's lying by that stupid grin he can't hide. This time he was genuinely like, sigh, no. Hope Sahin isn't Spurs-bound
FF I thought the opening ceremony was equally cool and facepalm weirdness. But at least nothing as humiliating as that fucking red bus and Boris Johnson waving the flag

Ohh, totally forgot about the new Arsenal shop at Brent Cross. I will pay it a visit some time soon! It would be cool if they could get squad members to come and do signings and shit frequently
Firefox, I enjoyed the opening ceremony - it was quite amazing in fact, and yeah Cyn the less Boris the better
I don't think Sahin would end up at Spurs for a year, BUT, with Modric going the other way perhaps it could end up being a bargaining tool. Apparently Wenger flipped today post City game because of all the Van Persie questions he was getting. Can't say I blame him..Last edited by Nitey; 07-28-2012 at 01:16.

so kinda shocking that we are trying to get both cazorla and sahin in for the season? wenger needs to be careful or we might start looking like a club with ambition! haha these rumours are getting me really excited for the start of the season. Any chance Wenger has finally realised that it isnt the £35mill signings the fans want its these type of signings we want that significantly strengthen our team at the right price?! im definatly excited about the next week as an arsenal fan!

So Wenger just announced that our new signings, Podo and Giroud wont be fit for the start of the season. So no Podoloski, Giroud, Sagna, Wilshere, or Roskicky. We cant even get healthy before we start playing....
Out of all of these guys, I have no clue how Giroud isn't fit. He barely even played in Euros and if Walcott and Ox can play preseason, why can't he?you game? http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=55990
Ventrilo guys. It's good stuff http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=28989

Apparently Mertesacker won't even be fit. Didn't he go with the German national team to the Euros? He didn't get injured again, did he?

I thought Mertesacker was ready for the beginning of next season? He seems to be fine here...

Yeah I wasn't too pleased when I read that today. I wonder when they will be fit? With RvP future uncertain we could be starting the next season how we approached these warm up games... with Maroane Chamakh leading our attack. God help us.
Edit: That vid..
That's how they get injured! =p

Bloody A for effort for that video. A lot of it made me upset and I didn't think it was going to pick up!
I liked the part when it said "Only rats desert a sinking ship"
Good stuff though. Thanks for posting.
Made my first purchase in the new Arsenal shop today: £2 on an Arsenal Oyster card holder! Sad thing is is that it has Van Persie on it

Haha! Nah man, I wouldn't have you do that. Seems a bit excessive for an Oyster card holder, I just want some Arsenal swag when I pull out my Oyster card on the tube
. I'll grab one whenever I'm at the store, plan to go there with my bro soon

Lol, fair enough.
I'll post up a picture of the one I got. As far as I could see they only had the one I got, and a dark one of the stadium at night. I like dark colours better but it looked a bit dull. The one I got has the badge on it as well, so I love that.
**EDIT**
Oyster card holder:

And this happened the other day:

Mint holder, I think I'll get a darker one
!
I saw that live, what a lucky girl
. Check her smile - she loved it!
The Cazorla transfer has gained a LOT of steam today. SSN are reporting he's due to fly up to London this week and other sources are claiming he's days away from signing!! Not sure about the price but 20mEUROS is what's being rumoured...Honestly, that would be a bargain. He's something we've missed for a long time, and is widely considered the best player in the Spanish league outside of RM/Barcelona. He also turned down RM to stay at Villareal few seasons back.
Him in the middle with Arteta and Song
. That's where I'd play him anyways
Not going to get ahead of myself, as the situation was similar to the Mata transfer last year and M'Villa was "about to sign" a month or two back, so until it's on Arsenal.com I'm staying firmly grounded
So fingers crossed this gets wrapped up and then move on to Sahin! Even if it's a year long deal with no option to buy I'd take him, 100%
~dreamland~
Giroud
Podolski
Cazorla
Sahin
We'd be a VERY good team overnight.
Edit:
Bunch of new training photos below

It does feel a lot like Mata last season, so I'm just keeping my hopes at a low until we get something concrete. I think he's a better player than Mata is though, albeit older, and I'd be much happier with him. We would finally have a player who can take good set pieces too (with both feet I might add!). For Villareal he was awesome as a wide player and I hope Wenger is considering a return to good old 442
lol defence
Chambo/Gerv-Arteta-Song-Cazorla
Giroud-Podolski
I have heard a lot of people saying that €20m would be a bargain for us but I don't agree. Malaga paid less than that last year when they hijacked our transfer and now he's a year older and they need to sell. If we got him on the customary 4 year contract he would have very little resale value afterwards. I think €20m is about as much as they could really expect to get, and obviously it would be our transfer record too
I agree Nitey that would be the basis for a very good squad but I still see big issues in there and if we really want to compete not even that is enough, such is the amount we have fallen behind in recent years.
-Would still need a decent back up keeper to keep Chesney honest
- Full-back is still a bit of a mess, one right back and two left wing backs who can't defend
- Still really need another holding player, especially as Song is off to the ACN & there's a good chance he will leave next summer just like Nasri last and RVP this
-Even after buying two strikers (both new to the PL), if RVP leaves that still isn't really enough, you need at least 3 good strikers in a squad that is going to compete. Chamakh is a joke. Afobe doesn't look ready to step up any time soon and we don't have any other young strikers coming through really. We are so stocked with young midfielders but have very little promising youth at either end of the pitch. Maybe we are still on the trail of that french kid who trialled with us?
So really on top of Giroud, Podolski and the two we may be signing soon, I think we need to sign at least 3 and probably 4 more to be a truly quality side. And OF COURSE get rid of the dross we have allowed to ferment at London Colney. Yes, Squillaci and Chamakh are still here
