All across MF, in his only pre-season came he played in the AM role. Basically our Cesc replacement a year late . Last year we depended on Ramsey and Rosicky in that role

I'd imagine he'll play on the left or right wing at some stage this season as well, as we all know Arsenal's injury record isn't so great

And yeah he really wanted to go to a club that would win. Of course you can cite City will something, Chelsea may win something, and Man U may win something. Something about him wanting to join a club with history is what made you guys the outstanding destination

Edit. Btw, the traitors thing isn't so much the actual indivuduals. Well, it is, but it's a comibination of that as well as slimey agents like Darren Dein, and how a culture of players just leaving as if it's nothing has developed over the years. It's like a domino affect and I suppose only winning trophies and getting players to actually commit will rid this culture

Nice! I bet Wenger has done it again with him, and we share your pain with injuries we need to sack our medical teams I hope they are doing a good job tonight. Your midfield is looking really strong, Ramsey, Wilshire, Carzorla, Rosicky, Artetea, Song. That's an awesome pool to pick from, you might even start playing a 3 man midfield (Or did you play that anyway )

This is the last main thing i'll post about RVP. This sums up a lot of my feelings and feel it's a good piece. I agree that I wont wish him luck, but I will say thanks for everything (at least in last season)

    http://arseblog.com/2012/08/no-shock...-what-a-shame/

Another thing to note about Cazorla, he is tiny. shorter than Arshavin. But he is also two footed which can be sooo useful in picking out the right pass in that #10 role.

Yeah Wilshere got the number 10 today as well. Yeah our midfield is prety strong this year, and seeing as we put a lot of pressure onto our MF with the way we play that's only a good thing. Hopefully Song stays but it's looking doubtful now ;(

We play a 4-3-3 or a 4-2-3-1. So yeah we've always had 3 in the middle xD

Your not even a rival no more!! how can you be a rival to us!!!!

I do think RVP genuinely did and still does love you guys, if he had joined city then yes he is a cunt
But trophies and the chance to win things talks............

On paper, you don't really have a better team than us and with signings you made and jack to come back, you lot should be challenging for the title this year regardless. its not all doom and gloom.

You muggged us off for a 29 year old who has ONE great full season, you should be laughing
Nothing against you but this is a real pet peeve of mine; when people go into rival threads /forums etc just to stir shit up.

No one is saying you can't do as you please, but you clearly know this is a rival page and continue on to argue.

Again, I'm not telling you what you can and can't do. I just don't see the point in it.

RVP Leaving after the signings we've made this summer especially to United is unforgivable and the statement against the club was unprofessional. You cannot say he loved the club after such a disrespectful statement against the club, and Wenger. I believe Wenger sold him because of his attitude. After Wenger took a chance with him signing him when no one wanted him, and supported him when he was always injured.

So much misinformation in this thread. The BBC reported his fee, Manchester United or any other team will never be bigger rivals than Tottenham but any team in the Top 4 are our rivals naturally what's with the comments putting Arsenal down by saying "you can never be our rivals"! Arrogance too high.

    @YMF
You guys seem to have a lot of "traitors" Nasri, Fabregas, Toure, RVP, Clichy, Viera, Henry. (More?) Maybe you guys should do some research into players characters before signing them? If you guys keep signing "traitors" that is.
Only Nasri and RVP in that list we have a problem with. How can you label Henry a traitor.. seriously? Toure left when the time was right and we still like him, Clichy we are indifferent/don't care, Vieira was no longer needed and we have no ill feelings towards Fabregas. Wish he could have left 3 years later but Barcelona are a persistent bunch emotionally tapping him up.

I didnt think his letter was disrespectful. He basically just said he has irreconcilable differences on how AFC should much forward and they could not come to a mutual agreement. He wasn't being disrespectful in the letter. You mean think they should have been more loyal, a lot of us do, including myself, but it was not disrespectful. He didnt leave because he fell out of love with the club per say, he left because he did not believe in the way the club was moving forward. And thats his right.
As far as moving to ManU, the board and wenger wanted to sell him. There were no other buyers. So he accepted and the board accepted. If he had another option then maybe, but PSG and City werent buying. I dont know why Chelsea didnt go after him though. They could use a proven striker and have too many mids.

Also, I think three3 was being cheeky when he said that, not necessarily insulting. and it'll be all the better when we beat united and rub it in his face.

Anyway as I have said before, don't mind Arsenal, am sorry we have to take a player from you to have a good player, wish we could both have one. Think it's a lil harsh just to label RVP a money grabber, you got to imagine that City would have offered the nicest kitty of cash, surely? But I understand maybe it's a natural defense mechanism.
The only place I have seen £15m quoted is on twitter from apparent "United in the knows" and Man U fan sites, who are probably also quoting people off twitter. All or at least most of the independent sources like the beeb, broadsheets and Sky are quoting correct figure. And you must have very little understanding of the way the Arsenal board, and Wenger himself operate if you think they'd talk up the price.

Merely calling the traitors what they are. But you have included rather too many there, although you forgot Cashley Cole and Adebayor, the worst. Vieira isn't, although he did try to become one more than once. Nor is Henry, Toure, Clichy or Fabregas. Most of those left by mutual consent, Fabregas was a special case, upsetting but understandable. The rest all ran down their contracts and forced moves, to clubs in the same league.

I do however take your point. There comes a time when you have to accept what football is these days. Players are just employees and it's not good to get emotionally attached to them, especially at a club like Arsenal

Not many people are calling RVP a money grabber. I know why he's leaving, he's 29 and has won fuck all in his career. He wants a few medals before he hangs up his boots. The current Arsenal is not the place to do that. Sure he is earning more at United than we would have given him, but not that much more. I am fairly certain we wouldn't have had much trouble paying him around £180k p/w.

He deserves ample criticism for the way he went about it though, it was shameful and not actions I expected from him. Nasri, sure. But not RVP. He was here 8 years, was the club captain, actually grew up a gooner and professed his love for the club every couple of months. He is as much a traitor as Ashley Cole is.

Fair enough. My apologies to three.

Still, it is annoying when that does happen though - no need for it.

On topic: I remember the pics with RVP as an arsenal fan in his bedroom etc,. and all the comments. And how he wanted to be like Bergkamp (no chance of that now!).

I know it's the modern era. But most fans will understand that teams of any pro sport can't hang to all their players for their entire career - but it is dissappointing when the athletes are misleading you to thinking that they want to be part of the club forever, and then stab you in the back.

They don't know the history of their own club. Before Sky came along they were basically the north west version of Newcastle United or Aston Villa. No offence to the barcodes btw, I like them lot. Liverpool went from winning the league every season and now they haven't won it in over 20 years. Things can change very fast in football. We can never be their rivals? They're lucky to be mentioned in the same breath as the mighty Arsenal.

Back to all things red & white, Wenger could make it all better by just going out and buying a few quality players. He can do that as well as anyone when he wants to. But he won't and that is why he deserves all the criticism he gets. You can shuffle along with a broken leg but you sure as fuck can't run on it. Stop trying to do things this way you stubborn old goat.

Ridiculous comment. Do you live your entire life based on stereotypes?

And it was Sir Alex that made Manchester United great again in the modern era not SKY.

Like I said earlier - that wasn't my point or what I was trying to say.

More often than not, it's to instigate and argue (and usually a futile exercise at trying to change minds). Nothing about infringing on internet liberties.

And you don't think saying United fans don't know the history of their club is not going to start an argument?

Plenty of people in the United thread on a more regular basis trying to "stir shit up"

I have no problem with fans arguing as long as it doesnt get out of hand.

I have more of a problem with fans of rival teams getting along. Can't we all just argue and yell at each other in peace?

I'm sure there are many things that people on x360 forums say shit about Sony/Playstation; but the fact that I don't visit them; it doesn't bother me. And if Id id, because I'm well within my rights to do so; I would understand the context of it because of what the forum (thread/post/etc) is about.

Like I said, it would be a waste of time for me to try and go to "their" forum, just to try to 'correct' them because it may have annoyed me.

    And no, it isn't excusable.

But I can only speak for myself and that if I do go to a thread/forum etc, I try to be respectable in that context. Since I'm fallible, it doesn't always end that way. but that's the mindset I try to have.

This is fair too. I just don't see the point in it.

I'm all for rivalries, I just prefer the more respectable side of it (i.e. still "hating" the other team but still understanding and respecting their positives - should any exist!).

Not that I'm trying to allude that santi has been disrespectful - I was actually just being tongue in cheek that a Utd fan has graced the thread - merely pointing it out.

    Nothing more.

    Carry on.

I'm not trying to correct anyone, nor do I want to change their opinions, I was responding to a comment about United fans. It's called discussion and it's what happens in a forum. There wouldn't be much point being here if it was always going to be United fans talking with United fans, Arsenal fans talking with Arsenal fans and City fan talking to himself. The opinions from rival fans always make this sports section far more interesting.

I comment on the United thread a lot, I never troll there but saying United fans coming in here and saying that we can never be your rivals.. that's a bit arrogant and why people in this thread criticized you.

edit: If we can get Sahin permanently by selling Song, then I'd rather sell Song who appears to have his heart set on Barcelona. Sahin is simply phenomenal.

    How Vermaelen took the news.

Also in reply to dinamo, his letter was disrespectful. Publicly saying it (to teammates, every football player/average person around the world) that you personally don't agree with how Arsene Wenger and the club are running things. Disrespectful.

So the only reason it was disrespectful wasnt because of the content of the letter, but because he made it public? Or do you also find his opinion disrespectful?

I find the opinion disrespectful but making it public like that made it even worse. What does that say to his current teammates, to fans? Lame excuse, and to slag off a manager and club who had supported him for so long and took a chance with him when they signed him when no one wanted him.. classless.
