Of course the letter was disrespectful, it was just plain wrong. Even Alan Sugar the spurs fan called RvP on publicly slating the club like that, saying who the fuck does he think he is to question the ambition of such a club, and so publicly too. Honestly, if we had signed Messi RvP would still have left lol. He just wanted out.
We've been our busiest this window in terms of quality incomings yet apparently we have no ambition. What we have is little soul among our best players. Hopefully him and Song are the last of that breed and we can move on.
Not sure about that to be honest. Us Arsenal fans have decent enough discussions in here without any other fans for the longest time. Think it's pretty decent. I don't think any Arsenal fans have ever gone into the Utd thread to stir shit up, maybe with the exception of Cyn? Not sure, but seems like you lot don't 'get along'. Or more likely, you're referring to the Liverpool fans, which makes sense. If there was a Spurs thread here I'd dump in it every so often
Anyway, often the opinion from rival fans are clouded by tinted glasses, and it doesn't really lead to anything worthwhile to be honest. Might as well not bother lol. Objective discussions however, is something that is fully encouraged but unlikely to get when emotions are so high in football
Desperation?

Edit: The look on Verm's face when the guy tells him is horrible >.<. Poor guy - would have thought his 'mate' would have let him know what's going on before an interviewer

Yep, apparently he's called all our incoming transfers, Van Persie going, and Wilshere getting the number 10 before they were all officially announced.
Wenger's said himself that we have a lot of central midfielders, and that Oxlade-Chamberlain has been playing centrally in pre-season, so I doubt we'll sign anyone to replace Song.
Apparently he's been big-headed, which is a bit rich, considering how shite he was when we first signed him.

Replace Gervinho with Walcott, and swap Arteta/Diaby and I am with you.

I think Walcott will definitely play. We got some nice options up front even without whatshisface

Anyway guys, seems the arrival of Nuri Sahin is imminent.
We need a proper DM though, I would class Sahin as a CM. I suppose we have Frimpong and Coq but I think we need a player of higher quality to be starting our games. Especially in a position that soaks up so much pressure in our formation
Rumor is £15-20m for Song. Not sure how I feel about that but that should be enough to get in a proper DM. New DM + Sahin and we're set
Congratulations to TV5 on getting Captaincy
, it was a no brainer as far as I'm concerned, and my man Arteta getting Vice.

God only couple weeks till the window closes. Hope we can get rid of Bendtner, Chamakh, et al. Rather promote players from within like Afobe to replace clowns like that. At least they'll wanna prove something on the pitch.

I think Walcott is vital with players like Giroud and Podolski in the box. Gervinho a super sub.

Podolski must be playing as the central striker. I think he'll do well there. Great for me and my fantasy team haha.

Mertesacker is pure garbage. Anyone else see him pass the ball clear out of bounds? and then right to the opposition. People talk about his defensive positionings strengths. Its one of his worst features. That McClean throughball was on his watch

Disappointing result.
Cazorla, Gervinho and Arteta were the standouts from this game.
Also, the cleansheet.
Everyone else was meh.
Podolski, Jenkinson and Walcott were utter sh!t.
Giroud should've buried that in the final moments.
If only Arsene read this thread and saw my line up.
Credit to Sunderland and their bunkering. It was a success.
Song has officially been sold to Barthelona.
After seeing Liverpool today, I hope Sahin now knows what club he wants to join.

I'd say re-watch the Giroud chance and you'll see it wasn't just Cazorla who created the chance, it was mostly Giroud's movements. He looked like he thought he didn't have much time.
Either way it was very encouraging. I hope after this he still has confidence in his weak foot.

He still should've buried it and your boy Theo was real vital today.

You still think Gervinho is a supersub?
Sahin needs to make up his mind immediately.

FireFox, Giroud's 'amazing' movement was completely cancelled out by that epic miss. it wasnt even a close shot. It was a shit game from Podolski and Giroud. thats a fact. But im not dumb enough to write them off after one game. Especially Giroud. I didn't like Podolski's body language though on some of the plays, notable the one where he missed the through ball and let up and the defender got tripped up a bit. If he didnt let up and hustled back for the ball, he would've gotten it back.
Anyway, my main point. I've accepted that Arsenal is now a selling club. But for all the talk about our business savvy, I think we dont do nearly well enough when it comes to selling. We give too much power to the players and handcuff ourselves. Song leaving for 15M is wayyy too low imo, esp for a player just entering into his prime and who has so much time left on his contract. This whole if a player wants to leave let him leave gives the buyer all the power and we get taken for a deal. Aside from the RVP sale, most of the other ones were too low in the opinion. We got absolutely bent up by Barca on Fabregas (and even more insulted when they admitted he was worth a lot more like a week after the move). 15M is too little for song. 7M is too little for Clichy who is a starter for city. We paid 8m for mertesacker who is awful. people like to reiterate the notion that he has great defensive position and reads the game well? he cant read shit. most of the through balls played on us go through him. awful.
Anyway, another poor start. Hopefully we can get more comfortable with each other and start gelling. I never want to see a mid running up springing the attack and watching podolski just standing there letting them run past him..you game? http://www.ps3forums.com/showthread.php?t=55990

Wenger's BBC Post-Match Interview was very revealing, his sad face when the recent transfers out were brought up and his Smile and confirmation when Sahin was mentioned.
edit: BBC "Arsenal close to completing Sahin deal. Season-long loan with view to permanent. Confirmation likely early next week."
Apparently Sahin rejected Liverpool even when Alonso and Mourinho were both telling him to go there. Wenger's comments about him when he was young must have made the difference.
If we can get Sahin Permanently that would be fantastic! But that's something to think about next summer.

From what I read it was all but done to us, then Wenger called him personally to try to change his mind. I guess it worked.

Sahin 1) Is an absolutely brilliant player, 2) Has rejected a transfer to Sp*rs as part of the Modric deal, 3) Has praised Wenger for many years, and 4) Fought against everything and everyone to try to come to Arsenal.
Can't blame me for being excited.
