Not bad man. I personally like the blackout lights the best though but that's just my opinion. Anyways, it looks good.

I would first have to know what they look like before modification, but they do look really nice.

I can't wait until I get my new car.
I've looked through Cobalts (as you obviously know) but I just couldn't help but feel like a douche if I bought one. I don't mean to offend, but they just seem too cheesy to be taken seriously as a performance car to me..
I still like looking at the site to see how they fare against other cars, but I couldn't justify buying one myself. They just aren't sports carish enough for me. I don't believe in modding cars into sports cars that weren't intended to be sports cars in the first place.
Everybody has their own tastes and opinions though. A lot of people consider the car I plan on buying holy while others say it sucks arse, lol.

I actually like those. I haven't been a fan of painted headlights since the Corvette started using them and I hated the look.

Thanks for the compliments, guys.

Nice to see someone not changing to the blacked out lights.. I think they are ugly. You going to do the same to the tails? What other mods have you done?
-
01-10-2008 #9
This is the first major visual mod I'm going to have done to the car. I'm going to change out the tails and 3rd brake light for LEDs soon after. I've already got a few performance mods, though nothing major. Just a swapped S/C pulley, intake, engine torque dampener, short throw shifter, intake, and tires. I've got some bigger injectors and a tune coming by the end of the month, and I'll be getting an exhaust by summertime.
Oh, and the guy sold me the headlights because he's buying stockers to black out.

i like it!
i used to have a 2006 red cobalt SS / SC. that car was great fun to drive. mine was straight factory tho...no tune ups.

Haha what a ricer! Did you do all the mods yourself or have a shop do it? I got a car and I want to throw some mods into it and I've got zero experience besides the regular fluid/brake changes, but I'm looking to get some grease on my hands. I'm planning on new tires, intake, and bov in the spring w/ exhaust following hopefully by mid summer.

I don't have the tools/patience to mod the car myself, so I figure it's worth the money to take it to my buddy's shop. He doesn't charge me much, and he's the best that I know.
And I'm no ricer... it's not like the first and only thing I did was put a coffee can on my car. >_> Hopefully I can make about 250 WHP when I'm done with everything- I'll see when I'm on the dyno getting my tune done.

I haven't been able to find a pic of "blacked out" cobalt lights anywhere, could you show them to compare?
Besides that, you haven't even gone stage 2? Shame on you..
-

Git 'r' done!
Ugh.

Is it that easy to tell?
D Thanks for the compliments!
I'll see if I can find a pic, though it'll be hard. The one site that has all the Cobalt pictures one can handle has been online for seemingly only a couple of hours a day, like I said above.
As far as Stage 2 is concerned, that'll be child's play when I'm done by the end of the month. I'll be running a smaller pulley, bigger injectors, and a much better tune than GMs silly little stage kit.

OK, so I put the lights in and... I dunno. While the look of the painted lights is definitely a huge improvement, whoever painted the lights could have done a better job. There's a lot of silicon that was sloppily applied to seal the lights back together, which wasn't a big deal- a razor blade took care of that. But the d*** things fog up in the cold. I left the stock headlights at the shop because my buddy thinks he can do a better job, and after what he did with my calipers I believe it. The corner of one of the headlights is chipped off, too.

He also gave me the Magnaflow muffler he used to have on his Honda Prelude, and he put that on there for me. Sounds a lot nicer than the stock muffler, the restrictive piece of crap that it is. And he did it all for the low, low price of my old PS2 with memory card and two controllers. Dead serious.
Overall, I left the place feeling really good- that muffler's gonna do an awesome job pissing off the neighbors.
And where else would I get my work done?

Wow, very nice headlights

Here are a couple suggestions.
1 - ditch the headlights and purchase an ebay set of projectors. They are much better in terms of looks and light pattern.
2 - Should you choose to keep your current ones, put them in the oven at around 140º for a little less than 10 minutes. Then pry them apart, clean the edges, and reseal with silicone. It goes without saying that you should make sure there isn't any fog when you seal them back up.
3 - If the guy went through all the trouble to take the capsules apart to paint, why didn't he just remove the side reflector instead of painting it black? It looks tacky.

I'm going to paint my stock headlights just because that chip in the corner of the one headlight bugs me more and more every day. And I like the black reflector.
