My first Blu-ray movie experince

Yes, except a composite is already HD and can output 1080p if your TV supports it...
I guess you mean you were using RCA cables? the yellow red and white with only 1 plugged into a video connection?
if you just have the basic cable that comes with the PS3, then def. yes, get HDMI, it's the cheapest way to upgrade, just don't spend more than $15 bucks on a cable, or you are getting ripped off...Nos Locos kick your ***, Nos Locos kick your face, Nos Locos kick your balls into outer space!

480i is not even experiencing the true Blu ray experience, at the minimum you should be using Component cables to get a High Definition picture. Got out now and get either a set of Component cables or an HDMI cable, you will be blown away by the picture.

???
Composite IS red / white / yellow....
You must be referring to Component cables, cos no way is Composite going to output HD.
Since the OP stated he's using Composite, I'd say an upgrade to HDMI would be a huge difference, especially when your TV is Full-HD. If HDMI is proving hard to find, the next best alternative would be Component (those Red/Green/Blue for Video and Red/White for Audio) cables - don't confuse them with Composite.

BD Movies: PotC: 1 & 2 | Harry Potter 1, 2, 3 & 4 | Spiderman Trilogy | Black Hawk Down | 300 | Underworld | Alien vs Predator | Fantastic Four: RotSS | House of Flying Daggers | The Departed | Bladerunner | Appleseed: Ex Machina | A Knight's Tale | Resident Evil Trilogy | Full Metal Jacket | Unforgiven

yes go HDMI, but make sure your tv supports it. I have a 53" HDTV from Hitachi but it was made in like 2000 so it doesn't do HDMI, so I got component cables and I can get 720p and 1080i, the difference will blow you away.
I also would recomend monoprice.com because I just got a optical cable ($6.90 for cable and shipping) from them within the last two weeks so I could do surround sound through my receiver. Cable works great. Dude, if you don't use component or HDMI, you aren't getting high definition. Period. So yes, you should most certainly get an HD cable. I would get HDMI, since it will be able to pass 1080p no problems. Some TVs will accept 1080p through component, but it's best to just get HDMI. Besides that, you can get them for stupid cheap!

If you are really using composite (red/white/yellow) and not component (red/green/blue) then the answer is hell yes. Using composite and watching at 480i you will be getting the same image quality out of your Blu Ray as you would get from a DVD - what a waste
Get HDMI or component somehow - whatever it takes...

If your TV has HDMI buy a HDMI cable . If it doesn't butt has component (three cables for video) buy the PS2/PS3 component cable. If it doesn't have that you're left with the NTSC 480i options (S-video and composite) The PS2/PS3 S-video cable will look better than composite.
All these options should be less than $20 and are worth it. Funny how the HDMI cable ($5 off ebay) will be the cheapest butt best.

How does one even watch an 50' HDTV at 480i? Seriously... It would be an awful picture and more importantly, it would insult the HD Gods... watch for lightening bolts until you pick up an HDMI cable.
Numbers can be made to lie... they're weak willed and easily manipulated!

If you're watching Blu-Ray movies using composite cables, you're wasting your money renting and buying Blu-Ray movies. You need HDMI cables to get HD resolution from Blu-Ray movies.
And component cables won't cut it. The movies won't output HD resolution without HDMI. Something about the security and HDCP.

Actually, he didn't even get progressive... LoL How bad is that. They look pretty good on my 27" CRT, but come on man, a 480i signal stretched out that much (Blu-ray or not) would just be horrid. Blech.
You can get cables for something like $2.50 on monoprice.com. You should get them there.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
