A co worker of mine told me this morning that he had bought himself a 46" 1080p Sony Bravia and a "blu ray" dvd player....
First thing came out of my mouth was:
You do know that the Sony PS3 plays games aswell as Blu Ray dvds for alot cheaper than standard Blu ray dvd players?
All he says is: Yes, but i dont know how to work it......
Morale of the story: Learn to read directions.
Is that rumor true about 99% of men do NOT read directions?
Just thought this was funny

A little story

So I take it your coworker doesn't play video games? If he doesn't, then it doesn't matter that he didn't buy a PS3, methinks.

instructions are only used as a last resort

finding things out on your own is much more funDisclaimer: I may or may not know what I'm talking about.

So true, and as in most things in life it is better to learn and understand than to be told and not understand.
Back to the topic though, why would anyone buy a BR player over a PS3. It is very high quality, inexpensive in comparison to most and is very upgradeable. Unless you are looking to spend a lot of money to get the highest possible video/audio quality then PS3 is the clear decision.

you could always tell him to buy a mad catz remote for the ps3 if all he does is play bluray movies. BTW what are typical good quality bluray playbit bitrate. I get anywhere from 12-20Mbps in the movie Stealth.

Well, ignorance runs deep with almost every consumer.
But he probably made a fine choice, there are Blu-ray players out there now that are easily better than the PS3 for Blu-ray playback and audio features.

So for all you smart people. Since you know what PS3 can do, list them all here. I bet you can't do it the first try.
Love the sig, but it was too big.

You mean list all the things it can do with Blu-ray playback? Pretty simple really. This isn't an issue about knowing everything, rather its about knowing what you need to for your own situation. As I always say "you need to do your home work".

That isn't what we are talking about at all. I was more than well informed when I got what I bought, and when I bought all my equipment. If someone doesn't know every nuance of their unit or equipment doesn't mean they weren't informed enough to make a proper choice.
No one ever said they know everything.

Most 40+ generation technology scares the eartha kit out of them. its a case of "i dont understand and if i press the wrong button it will break"
My dad is the same he is 54.
He is on PC something pops up with lets say windows updated and it asks you to restart what do u want to do. .... restart YES/NO
Everything stops and he thinks it broken blah blah and no matter how many times i tell him it just doesnt sink in.

Wow.. When you get the remote with the PS3, you just need to press the familiar buttons (play, stop etc.) that are just the same on all (DVD) remotes, so how hard can that be...
