Please no more rumor threads...

Can the mod team on this forum do something about these threads? They pop up almost every hour of the day and hold no wait or value and for most of the part just turn into a flame fest without any facts.

It's starting to get quite annoying...

There's a lot of things that get annoying on this forum. If we banned them all there'd be nothing to talk about anymore :/

Like

• weekly PSN "what is it this week threads"
• Monthly NDP threads
• PR quote threads that get taken out of context in every way imaginable
• Reading so far in-between the lines with said PR quote threads so said member can actually believe what they're saying
• Comparison threads
• TV size threads
• "How many games you have" threads
• "How often do you xxxx" threads
• "Should I buy X or Y?" threads?
• Hype train threads
• "Wishful thinking" threads
• "PS3 has won!" threads
• "PS3 will win!" threads
• "How long until PS dominates again?" threads
• "MS is satan because xxxx" threads
• Threads full of so much speculation it's hard to even tell what the topic is really about.

Well I guess my point is that some people like them. We might as well be able to post rumors here rather than having members randomly post them like fact and having to cite every other post when disagreeing over who's e-penis stretched out over the cold plastic that is their savior console is bigger.

What do you propose we ban. Anything that hasn't been officially confirmed by the devs?

If that's all we talked about this might as well just be the article comments on IGN or something.

Rumors are half the reason people come here. A good rumor beats a boring fact any day.

If we suppress rumours, we are gloryfying confirmed news.

The problem with that is that what is presented as news around here is often laced with opinion.

Rumours offer alternative theorys, as well as red herrings and lies.
So long as people understand this, rumours should be allowed.

Well I think I made a point now. Rumors bring news here especially on dry spell days. News is news, no matter how ridiculous it is.

If they turn out to be true, everyone can remove the rumor stated in the thread title. If not, change it to a debunked thread title if this is a hoax of a rumor. Simple right?

I really don't see the problem with threads about rumors. At least it's something to discuss.
