Watch any of the Toronto match? Suso, Sterling, Shelvey all very impressive. Hoping Morgan is the next scouse superstar haha.
Can't wait for Wednesday. Euro players should be in training today.

A few reports that we've agreed a fee for Joe Allen.
Also some talk that we've signed a 15 year old brazilian kid William Oliveira Souza, nicknamed William McLaren for his pace, dubbed the 'new Neymar'.
-

Yeah, £13.5 mil! :/
It is from Goal.com tho so would take that with a pinch of salt.
Woop new Neymar.... Is he going to be as good as all the hundreds of new Messi's that have been coming thru for the past 4 years?

Taking it with a mound of salt lol. No other sources seem to be calling it yet.
Meh, we'll see. I'd prefer the young players we have now to fulfill their potential, namely Shelvey, Sterling, Suso.
16 year old striker Jerome Sinclair has scored 5 goals in the last two games for our U18s (which is comprised mainly of last years U16s), the first game he came on as a sub to score 3. He could be the next young star to look forward to.

I dont rate Shelvey one little bit, but we have plenty to look forward to with Sterling and Suso. They should be blooded this upcoming season, probably in the Europa League/ Carling Cup.

Last season we did a terrible job giving players chances anyway. Kenny, although gave a lot of youth and fringe players chances in his interim spell, played favorites last season, instead of playing on-form and better players.
What I like about Shelvey is his confidence. Henderson has all the technical ability in the world but he's too afraid to try things, seemingly always resorting to the safer option (which is okay, you need those players too, and he's still young anyway), but Shelvey has the balls to try to make things happen.
I think you just don't like the name Jonjo
. I don't blame you haha.
KICK OFF IN 5 HOURS!!!
EDIT: apparently Spurs want Allen now too

You couldn't make this shit up.

Another great performance from, you guessed it, your boy Jonjo lol.
He's really making me give even less than the zero fucks I already gave about losing Sigurdsson. He'll probably also convince Rodgers that he doesn't need to go and splash the cash on Allen as we're stock full of midfielders, and instead spend big money on some quality wingers.

Good game, Jonjo showed why he must be kept and makes me wonder why we got Hendo...
For a b team to perform like that against what is still an experienced roma team, not bad. Hope to see the regulars start on Saturday.

Well we need quality depth. I'd sooner question why we bought Adam, not Henderson.
Lucas, Gerrard, Aquilani, Henderson, Adam, Shelvey, Suso, Spearing
I'd say, at most we need 7 senior midfielders in the 4-3-3 setup. Currently we have 7 senior + 1 youth (Suso). If we will look to add another midfielder (Allen), then somebody will be sold. Either Spearing because he's not quite good enough, Aquilani because of wages, or Adam because he might not really fit the style.
For the Spurs match, picking only from the players that featured in the first two preseason games, I'd like to see this 11 start the match.
Jones
McLaughlin Skrtel Agger Robinson
Lucas
Shelvey --- Suso
Cole ---------------- Sterling
Pacheco

Andy Carroll on loan... what exactly is the point of loaning him out?

Denied. I think if he's leaving it will only be for a permanent deal. And we apparently won't take less than 20m. So a good chance that he doesn't go anywhere.

Yeah he does. Look up some of his skills videos from his time at Sunderland's youth. He's great technically, just lacks the confidence to really put it to use. Hopefully that will come with experience.
Shelvey on the other hand, isn't as good technically, but has all the confidence in the world. Combined, they would make a hell of a player lol.

Well we didn't deserve that at all, but I'll take an undeserved win over the countless undeserved losses and draws from last season. Let's just not make a habit of the undeserving part.
Great strike from Downing

It was more to do with Gerrard I think. In this system the advanced midfielder role is vital, yet Gerrard refuses to trust the other midfielders to let him roam forward. He trusts Lucas so he was more advanced when he came on.
I mean, I wouldn't really trust Spearing either, but you win and lose as a team, and Gerrard doesn't really help anything when he goes and tries to do everything.

http://www.liverpoolfc.com/news/late...s-new-contractLuis Suarez has signed a new long-term contract with the club.
The Uruguay forward committed his future to the Reds by putting pen to paper on the deal on Tuesday afternoon after returning to Melwood following the Olympics earlier this week.
Moments after signing the deal, Suarez told Liverpoolfc.com: "To sign a new contract with Liverpool is unbelievable for me because I am so happy here at both the club and also in the city.
"That is important for me and I am very happy with my new contract.
"When you are a kid, everybody wants to play for Liverpool. I am here now and it is a dream for me, and now I am a Liverpool fan.
"I am happy off the pitch because the people of Liverpool are good with me and my family. I try my best on the pitch and when you are happy off the pitch, you are happy on the pitch.
"I want to say thank-you to the fans because they are our 12th player. The supporters of Liverpool are unbelievable.
"Five or six years ago I watched on TV the stadium and the club, and now I play here and the supporters have helped me. That's very important for me."
Suarez has established himself as a Kop favourite at Anfield since his transfer from Ajax in January 2011.
The No.7 has scored 21 goals and created countless assists for his teammates in 52 appearances for Liverpool.
Manager Brendan Rodgers added: "I'm delighted. When you have the opportunity to work with world-class players it's fantastic.
"There were certainly a few clubs who were interested in him but over the off-season he and I communicated well - and he's committed himself for the long term here now.
"He's really looking forward to playing in this way of working. As a manager and for the supporters, I'm delighted because I know how important he is for them."
Stay tuned to Liverpoolfc.com throughout the night for more exclusive reaction to the deal from Suarez and Rodgers.

Tomorrow's Times saying we've triggered Joe Allen's £15m release clause and that we've rejected a £20m bid for Agger.
Can't help but think we're overpaying for British talent AGAIN, but gotta trust that Rodgers knows what the player is worth, having worked with him for 2 years. He does look an exceptional talent.
